User ID: 80265344 United States 05/08/2021 08:13 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I am technically retired, but I would love a part time job. But if I have to mask up I am not working. I can't see or breathe wearing a mask. I wonder how many others are in this same position. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80290938 You have a good point! I wonder how much of the staff shortage is due to the “mask debacle?” |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 78310900 United States 05/08/2021 08:13 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's that way here in N. Georgia, too, with rolling closings due to no staff. So now we all know what effect Universal Income would have on people and the local economies. Young adults don't see a reason to work if they get high unemployment for being off. High school kids are mostly too lazy to work. That leaves a lot of older people trying to supplement their pitiful $1000 monthly Social Security checks. However, until you are over full retirement age, you can only make something like $18,000 a year before they take away your Social Security. So the stores are trying to get these older people to work 50 hour weeks, and then they, too, have to quit. They could alleviate much of this by taking out the $18,000 rule for people in their 60s who are still able to work long hours, take away the Unemployment from people who have been out of work for over 6 months, and stop the rent/house payment moratorium. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73888412 Some of the restaurants are having to close on the weekends because they dont have workers. I have never seen this before. And, it isnt like it is something that gradually started to happen. It started happening all at once. Same in Harrisburg Pa. Been like this 2 months now. WOW Ok this is happening in Norfolk Nebraska area too. I thought it was just happening here. The group sales facebook page for Norfolk now has updates on places closing for the day since they have no one to work. Its happening more and more. Can't find people that want to work. Crazy. |

Do you think they are lacking for employees? Quoting: Anonymous Retrocity 70207709 Fucking hamburgers oh yeah, like, did your family really need to sit down inside wendy's? Fuck no, you just got addicted to eating in a social setting like the brady bunch all sat down together. We destroyed the brady bunch era, they wanted the opposite of goodness, so you miss your wendy's atmosphere, but it never meant shit. Drive thru, heh, driving itself lacks any life when the vehicles they make, have no soul. I'd rather drive a VW bus from the old days than any fuckin car made today. I think of those poor bastards inside factories making kindles, fucking nets on the roof so they can't kill themselves. "Employers". No one wants a return to polluting cars and the Vietnam war friend. Stop idealizing the old days. The generation of Woodstock started all this Marxism shit and the Neo Cons are just as bad. |

They are hazard. Thats how you fight this corporate greed. Taco Bell no longers gets my money as they locked the doors up to even order inside- you hear that you franchise basdards. Fuck em all. I will gladly cook my meals rather than wait in fricking drive through line for 30 minutes. Wasting gas at 3-4 bucks a gallon is stupid as fuck to get shit food. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 79790939 United States 05/08/2021 08:20 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | That is awesome that they close. Stop eating corporate process food. Try eating a home cook meal or from a small business restaurant since they tend to pay their employees a livable wage. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78145330 Agree cook your own food as long as there is food. As for small businesses many restaurants have been put out of business by government mandates or no longer have staff either because of unemployment. Eat at small restaurants that face the threat of closure by Marxists demanding $15 an hour. You don't get it. |

He said to me, can’t wait till we don’t have to wear these masks anymore. (I wasn’t wearing one and he was envious). I said,”I know I feel for you.” He continued to say, I wear one all day at school then I come here and I have to wear it more. It dawned on me why maybe places can’t find help. Who wants to wear a MASK ALL SUCK-ING DAY!!! Im in FL and still some employers make people wear masks. I would imagine many high schoolers can’t handle more mask wearing to get job. Any thoughts? User ID: 80284682 United States 05/08/2021 08:24 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | As a professional musician, I always had to work shit jobs to survive. Music does not pay unless you make it big. The musicians in the bars do it because they love music, and they have shit jobs to support themselves. Those jobs never paid enough to survive, but I don't mind being poor. If you wanted to pay rent, buy food, AND pay utilities, you needed two shit jobs, but the thing is, my shit job at Shoprite as a cashier would change my schedule weekly so I couldn't get another shit job, and they wouldn't give anyone more than 30 hours so they didn't have to pay full health care. If you got the whole 30 hours, you were lucky. These jobs keep you desperate and poor and you work yourself to death on cement floors that ruin your hips and knees. And you wonder why they don't want to go back to work? Give people 40 hours at Walmart. I know they play that same game of giving less than 30 hours so they don't have to pay the higher level of health care. They also give shifts that change so you can't get a second job. These jobs do a good job keeping people hopeless, tired, and poor. The answer is definitely not for the government to pay us to stay home. How about paying a living wage in the area where you live? How about giving a person more hours if they need them instead of firing old employees and hiring new ones at entry level to keep overhead low. I know the games they play and now the people are sick of it. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 9373932 United States 05/08/2021 08:25 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The Southern slaveman would rather go out of business than pay $15/hr. Hold the line... diamond hands. Quoting: Uncle Gintel Yup. Real businesses that treat employees with dignity, respect and liveable pay have no shortage in labor. It is only the corporate slavemarts that cannot get people to sign up for a minimum wage job offering 20 hours a week which you have to keep your calendar open for because you will have no set schedule, you will be strangled in a face diaper all day and be required to submit to having your brain punctured by an invasive medical procedure at the whim of the manager. They will not find people willing to work under their new slave labor market conditions with invasive medical procedures. And in the states where unemployment has been cut off in hopes of forcing people to take the slave jobs they will be sorely disappointed as well. I am in one of those states. Here is what everyone is doing - "establishing residency" to get pua in a new state. It is simple for alot of us. I personally will be going to stay with my daughter and continue to collect full PUA from my new residence. Others are using PO Boxes. The remainder of people who are not as bright are going to be left in your cities and towns looking for the next victim and home invasion they can commit. Before the convid - 50 grand a year. Then they stole my job and now think they can force me to work at mccdonalds? LOL Its not gonna happen. Not going to work with me or anyone else. They want people to come back to work? Then they have to knock it off with the convid shit and pay decently. Otherwise they will continue to be without workers. Which I applaud, boycott the corporations that brought this clusterfuck upon us. Dont work for them, shop there, or service them with YOUR business in any way shape or form. Let them starve out and die. LOL |
