My Local Walmart, Arby's, Wendy's, Subway all Closed: No Staff!

All the businesses in my area, even Walmart are having rolling closures due to staff not coming to work or not being able to find employees.

Some of the restaurants are having to close on the weekends because they dont have workers.

I have never seen this before. And, it isnt like it is something that gradually started to happen. It started happening all at once.

It's not BLM, it's not taking guns away. I fell for that jazz for too long.


It a lack of common sense workers rights in this country. A business should have to have a certain amount of staff per money made or customers servered. They understaff to save money and then nobody can take a day off when their kid is sick bc there is nobody to cover.

That is not living in a great nation. Our grandfathers didn't fight in WW2 so we could be treated like Chinese slaves.

It's been building up to this... maybe a living wage doesn't sound so bad to you guys anymore?

The whole minimum wage sector has burn out. If you don't force the people to pay a living wage... this is what happens.

Tierd of see good people working 2 - 3 jobs to pay for the same nessecities... as the rest of the world... I see them.

I know most of GLP was against the living wage, due to the egoic competitive nature of the insecurity they feel inside... but maybe people will start realizing... $15/hr would get a lot of these people back up on their OWN feet instead of unemployment.

It would, it's only $300 week man for the federal help.

That is awesome that they close. Stop eating corporate process food. Try eating a home cook meal or from a small business restaurant since they tend to pay their employees a livable wage.

It's that way here in N. Georgia, too, with rolling closings due to no staff. So now we all know what effect Universal Income would have on people and the local economies.

Young adults don't see a reason to work if they get high unemployment for being off. High school kids are mostly too lazy to work. That leaves a lot of older people trying to supplement their pitiful $1000 monthly Social Security checks. However, until you are over full retirement age, you can only make something like $18,000 a year before they take away your Social Security. So the stores are trying to get these older people to work 50 hour weeks, and then they, too, have to quit.

They could alleviate much of this by taking out the $18,000 rule for people in their 60s who are still able to work long hours, take away the Unemployment from people who have been out of work for over 6 months, and stop the rent/house payment moratorium.
