We can't find anyone to hire to replace some workers we lost over the last year, and we have had to close on one of the days of the week. Where did all that laid off labor go? It's like there's no unemployment in the whole of Milwaukee. 230 here, but 0 there. |

The reason I decided to post (even though this has been going on for about 2 weeks) is because we went to Subway last night and their new hours close at 8pm...8pm on a Fri night. I feel bad for restaurants that have to close during prime hours like weekends and busy times of the day. Walmart, Subway, Arby's are no big loss. Wendy's is though. I hope they stay closed and lose some of the billons they made of the rona. |

I haven't seen this here yet but I applied EVERYWHERE this fall and NO BUSINESS would call me but one wendys and they didn't hire me. Wow. Quoting: Conservative_B I posted about it saying I think the job listings were fake. There were other similar reports here. I still think this is all fake economy killing. Also funny they are closing during the times that were "senior hour" or "disinfectant hour" last year. So they have this built into their budget already. Directive from head office in the US - NO WHITIES, we were supposed to focus on hiring blacks, but none applied, probably because it's an industry that doesn't attract many black people. We got 250 applications from white people several of them with passion and experience in the industry, 20 hispanics, 20 asians and a girl from Russia. The only people I saw as qualified were some of the white people including the Russian girl and one of the hispanics, but we ended up hiring 2 hispanics, 1 asian and we hired one of the white people (we expect to get berated over this from up the chain of command). I don't think they get diversity kick backs from the Canadian government, but word on the street is that they do get a kick back in the US for every diversity hire. Initially, I looked inward, I must be a shitty interview, I don't have the skills, etc. In the past month however, I had 2 hiring managers tell me, I would love to bring you on but my diversity team has encouraged me to hold off on bringing on Caucasians. Previously, worked for myself, 2019 found that contracts were going overseas or to minorities in the US. At this point, I hope it all burns down. Why do businesses even have such a thing? Is it required by the fed for larger businesses, do businesses get tax breaks for hiring "minorities"? My Dad owns a few small independent businesses and he hires mostly Whites and said he never heard of or looked into getting tax breaks for hiring minorities. He said he just hires who he wants. Was it a computer/IT based job? Nope. Winter sports. Blacks and browns usually aren’t into winter sports. Actually, wealthy Latin Americans spend lots of money on yearly winter vacations and activities. Blacks not so much. Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak. |
