I've had this happen countless times. So bad one time that I would hit the floor screaming while trying to get out of bed.

Never once seen a Dr and it always heals.

I just rest and hang from a pull up bar as much as I can daily. I bet those inversion tables help too.

Depending on how bad it is it could take several months.

btw, when you're back "goes out" you've simply been flip flopping between two or more incorrect alignments and the pain is the muscles getting used to their new tone and positions. there also may be a lack of muscle in certain positions which allows the joints to go beyond their intended placement or movement, which causes a sharp pain.

ultimately, you're going to need to fix the root cause, something influential is still out of place.

remember every bones alignment is connected. a misaligned jaw will misalign your foot. which will misalign your hip and so on.

going to the chiropractor is about randomly guessing the right order of clicking your back to get it in the right place. its an art or a skill and it can't be calculated.

sometimes a lumbar adjustment has to happen before a cervical adjustment and if you get the order wrong, you have to have another go on another day, because you don't get to click the every place multiple times a day.

Get your Vit D levels checked. Had back trouble for YEARS, went to ortho, they said it's just arthritis go get PT. Went the Chiro, no relief.

Later on my PCP finds that my Vit D was really low! I had to take a HUGE amount of supplements to get it back up, and it took months.....BUT.....about 2 months in, magically my back pain went away. Later, so did all the sciatica and some other things. Turns out it wasn't arthritis causing all this, it was a big Vit D deficiency.

Just my .02

POLL: HELP! My back went out a few weeks ago - do I keep going to the chiropractor, or stop seeing him and do exercises?

This poll may help anyone down the road whose back goes out.

I was lifting some heavier things, probably incorrectly about 2.5 weeks ago, and the next day my back went out when tying my shoes.

I went to the chiropractor and believe he helped the first time I saw him or maybe two, but after that it seems seeing him 3 times a week for a few months is over the top and maybe even detrimental.

Anyone have any advice on getting a functional back, after the back goes out?

 Quoting: Butch DeFeo

Nurse it back to health with plenty of rest and focus on straight spinal posture when sleeping side or back.

Do not overextend, especially until it heals.

For laces use the sit-in-a-chair and rest foot that needs to be tied on front thigh, then same for the other. Or from standing put your foot up on a chair to tie, so you don't need to over-extend.

Watch out for sneezes, they can throw out your back instantly.

Never turn only the top half of your body, like if your doing something and look to the side. Always have your feet pointed towards where your head is facing.

When lifting, always lift squarely, both hands under the load. Never one hand high, one hand low. Spine works much better on vertical lifts, doesn't like sideways pressure.

Do a couple full cat-style stretches when you wake up, a couple when you go to bed. Really helps.

This list is just damage control methods for bad back.

I marked other, many years going to a chiro, and I would stop if I were you.

I would take it very easy if injured, not try to exercise for awhile to let the inflammation calm down.

But the key advice I would give is to take Dr. Christopher's Tissue and Bone capsules 3x a day with each meal, and use Dr. Christopher's Tissue and Bone Ointment on the affected area at least twice a day, especially before bed.

You can order it on Amazon.

It's miraculous.

Most people don’t realize all you need to do to CURE back issues is drink water and use an inversion table for 5 min once a day every other day for a week. It will never come back. Adults don’t hang upside down anymore and your vertebrae don’t separate to hydrate. This cause multiple issues all fixed with an inversion table. Some people’s vertebrae haven’t been hydrated for a decade or more. One inversion cycle will last 5 years or more.

The Therapist will help speed healing by keeping things aligned.

There is no healing without exercise. The muscles and

connective tissue needs to be stressed in order to heal and just maintain itself.

Find a good Osteopath. They fix backs, not just adjust, so you don't have to keep going back, again and again.

I had a 25-year back problem (caused by a jammed vertebrae) resolve spontanteously during a craniasacral therapy session. Seemingly around half the people who try it find it near miraculous, while half don't think it does much. The difference is probably in finding a good practitioner. I went to someone trained by the Upledger Institute. There are many different styles calling themselves "cranialsacral therapy, but I like Upledger's training (so much that I learned it myself). It's definitely one to try.

Another great modality is called Zero Balancing. Again, the key is in finding a good practitioner, but I have found it to be effective for back, shoulder, and hip issues.

Lastly, learn some good internal chinese martial arts, like tai chi, bague, or xing yi. All of there will strengthen your back. Easiest of all would be to find some quality qigong exercises.

Good luck. Back pain can be brutal. I couldn't barely move enough to breath when my used to go out. But it hasn't gone out since that cranialsacral session a few years ago.

My son has had rheumatoid arthritis since the age of 28. Suddenly, his feet were in a frightening condition - the toes were swollen and purple - they were called "purple sausages". The disease started attacking his whole body.

When the biologics came out, he was put on Embrel which completely eliminated his symptoms.

It was found that, in his case,he produced too many anti-tumor necrotic factors which are part of the immune system and are produced to search for and destroy abnormal cells. When your body makes too many of them they begin to attack normal tissues also and cause the red swollen tragic loss of joint function.

He is now 58 yrs old and he recently began cutting back on the Embrel because he worried about getting lymphoma which is listed as a warning to takers of Embrel. The disease is holding off with the self-dosing of omega-3 capsules, which are working well so far.

Slipped disc between the shoulder blades. Chiropractor put it back in, instant relief.

She kept me coming back for a while on and off but I eventually quit going.

I learned how she did it so whenever it goes out, I can get it back in with my wife's help.

I can tell you anything others havent already said here

I first pulled a muscle or whatever in my back late 2019, went to the chiro one time and she didnt do much of anything, but whatever she did, by the time i got home 5 mins later i couldnt even get out of my car or walk and was down like that for 4 days.

Finally got a bit better through stretching. I dont like taking pills or any meds.

But its come back a couple times since, most recently around the first of march, and the shit is still bothering me. Its not bad, but just makes it feel like i have to be very careful cause one wrong move will send it back to how it was.

I dont know what the official "cure" is or if there even is one, but hip stretching with a foam roller, hip thrusts/ab crunches seem to help mine the most since i dont believe mine is a vertebrae problem, its more muscle/sciatica ,

Re: POLL: HELP! My back went out a few weeks ago - do I keep going to the chiropractor, or stop seeing him and do exercises?
Ok this might sound nutty and odd but it works. It's also safe.

Go to Walmart or order online a 6 inch plasma globe. It's marketed as a fun device, you plug it in, turn it on, and it makes plasma inside which looks like lightning strikes.

Place the outside of the globe against the painful area on your back. It might be a bit hard to maneuver as even simply putting an arm in back can hurt.

But place the thing maybe between the back of a chair or sofa and your back. Have it on, and keep it there around 4 minutes. Do this several times a day, 3 to 5 if you can stand it. It just needs to be against the skin not pressing in hard or anything.

This shortens the healing/pain time from like 3 weeks to 4 or 5 days at the longest.

They are good for burns too. If you burn yourself (simple burn) place against plasma globe for 5 minutes, 30 minutes later it will be like nothing happened. They use it at burn clinics in Germany.

This is cold plasma, rather than blood plasma, a completely different thing.

Cold plasma is said by some to be the 4th state of matter after solid, liquid, gas...then plasma.

It's like God's perfect light and corrects what it comes into contact with.

It will be the future of medical technology and have many applications.

here is another thing to remember most back pain is in the brain.

ie it's imaginary. which is why it feels so weird and not like real pain from an immediate injury.

the more you focus on and are afraid of the pain, the more it will consume you.

seriously, check it out. studies have been done that it's more of a protective feature, like shrugging the shoulders than it is actual pain. i think there even lacks the appropriate nerves in the back to feel the pain. i should look for the study.
