If you have to go to the chiropractor more than twice, for the same problem, you are going to the wrong chiropractor. Sure some people like to go once a month & that’s ok but unless you are making a living playing football or something where your body takes heavy blows you don’t need to go more than that. If making your pocket book lighter makes your back feel better then go every day! |

My back went out a few weeks ago - do I keep going to the chiropractor, or stop seeing him and do exercises? Quoting: Butch DeFeo This poll may help anyone down the road whose back goes out. I was lifting some heavier things, probably incorrectly about 2.5 weeks ago, and the next day my back went out when tying my shoes. I went to the chiropractor and believe he helped the first time I saw him or maybe two, but after that it seems seeing him 3 times a week for a few months is over the top and maybe even detrimental. Anyone have any advice on getting a functional back, after the back goes out? :DOOMTOTAL: :CATAFFE: :REDPB: Voted Other. I have serious back issues, arthritis that's bad. Not to mentioned I fractured my hip and seriously injured l4 and l5 during a mishap fall when I was in my 20s. Been taking this stuff and it works. Period. Takes about 1 week to notice improvements. About 6 weeks to be able to do shit 1/2 way normal. [link to omaxhealth.com (secure)] |

I (140lb) have to help him up out of the chair (285lb) on occasion and its been killing my back. Get a back support weight belt for support and go swimming if you can. The belt really helped with the pain and recovery and prevents from further injury. |

My back went out a few weeks ago - do I keep going to the chiropractor, or stop seeing him and do exercises? Some chiros have the gift from God. Some are not that good, some, are quacks. Sorry to hear you are hurting. I would consider another chiro. I had a problem with my siatic sp. It took months ! It got to the point of zero improvement that my Dr. took x-rays. There are some new tricks they have and there's a chiro that actually has a machine that stretches the spine ? It is not uncommon for me to go and have it worse . Like,it starts to get better and then you get an adjustment from hell. Good luck o.p. ,respect, for your unwavering anti vax and born free attitude. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80474317 Thanks! I think the chiropractors can do no more, and it's time to exercise core strength. I believe the chirprogractor helped a lot on that first or second day, though. They are good for that first adjustment / correction. But after that, I think you have to work at it via exercise and proper posture, etc. :DOCSRBAFFLED::redblueLED::DONTBEAPANDEMICS: Only you can stop the fake pandemic for yourself, no one will ever tell you the pandemic is over. My back went out a few weeks ago - do I keep going to the chiropractor, or stop seeing him and do exercises? What's wrong with your back? Have you gone to a doctor to have it checked out? I do exercises for mine, but that's because I was examined by a doctor who told me it was a muscle problem. I know of someone who injured her back and went to a chiropractor instead of a physician. When the chiropractor couldn't help her, she then went to a doctor. She needed back surgery, but since she waited so long before seeing a doctor, they didn't dare operate due to all of the scar tissue that had built up. She suffered with back pain for the rest of her life! |

You may feel good for one day IMHO. I am waiting on my second surgery disc disease. I was always told one you go to a chiropractor, you will always "need" to go to a chiropractor. Cold and heat along with pain reliever for now... |

My back went out a few weeks ago - do I keep going to the chiropractor, or stop seeing him and do exercises? Grab a Pilates Reformer from thrift if you see one. It will make your abs strong, but more importantly, stretch your backbone. I got 3/4" taller with regular use. You can learn floor pilates, too, for free, from internet vids. Pilates was developed for those with injuries to begin with. Stretches are VERY valuable for recuperation - vids online; and use those legs when picking things up, while keeping abs tight so back doesn't take all the strain. |

Sleep like this for a couple days and start stretching. Ab workouts etc. been there, done that. Sorry brother |

The very area that he is working on is the "weak link". You need treatment on the areas above and below that. Of course you expect pain relief but treating the symptoms each time is never addressing the cause. I cant go into the philosophy or mechanical principles here. I can only speak in generisations but go see someone that will treat you for longer and less frequently that will actually work toward the cause. you should have also been given exercsies and lifting advice. As with any profession there are the exception but these chiros they just manipulate away with little regard to proper integration and that is where they get a bad reputation. anyway good luck mate |

If you are in pain ,I wouldn't think an exercise would fix it The pain is a pinched nerve and then the muscles are binding you up and protecting the back and trying to prevent pinching. Don't give up and some times it might take a week of laying around until it works itself out. |

Don't accept anything at face value. Be sure you're making healthy decisions, getting adequate rest and spending proper time reflecting on things. |

He would push the out of place bone back in place and gave me excercises to do. It took a month or two but worked. In the future keep your stomach muscles tight, keep in shape. It's your stomach muscles that mostly keep your spine straight and in good shape, not you back muscles. |
