I'll just throw this out there in case it helps.

Have you had any of the COVID vaccination shots?

I say this because I just watched this really intense
interview with one of the famous virologists who is
explaining some of the "fixes" they are finding effective
for people having "issues" with any of the VAX's.

Dr. Judy DOES mention that there is evidence that the
VAX causes an "inflammation storm" in the body--probably
from the Spike Proteins--which can "take residence" in any
part of the body (since it gets into the blood.) You
could very well have an inflammation of the spinal chord
from a VAX reaction--which means a chiropractor would
probably make it WORSE with invasive adjustments.

Listen to this video if you think it may be the VAX
(You don't need to disclose whether or not you have
had any of the VAX shots in the thread if it'll derail
the topic...but she mentions certain homeopathic treatments
that will "turn down the flame" of the inflammation.
It's an important video to watch anyways right now.

[link to academyofdk.com (secure)]

Hope that helps if it turns out to be a VAX reaction.
It is "fixable" so you don't need to be overly concerned.

Hope you get well, kiddo. I have had back issues and
it's no fun.

cheers

What's wrong with your back? Have you gone to a doctor to have it checked out?

I do exercises for mine, but that's because I was examined by a doctor who told me it was a muscle problem.

I know of someone who injured her back and went to a chiropractor instead of a physician. When the chiropractor couldn't help her, she then went to a doctor. She needed back surgery, but since she waited so long before seeing a doctor, they didn't dare operate due to all of the scar tissue that had built up. She suffered with back pain for the rest of her life!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76288549

There is one problem - I've got a very minimal lowest disc in my back. So that's the weak link. I need a bionic disc installed.

Been there done that several times. The best chiro I ever had I did both. He would push the out of place bone back in place and gave me excercises to do. It took a month or two but worked.

In the future keep your stomach muscles tight, keep in shape. It's your stomach muscles that mostly keep your spine straight and in good shape, not you back muscles.

what do you mean "went out"?
Muscle spasms? - exercises.
I'd say, lifting, causing no immediate sudden pain, something "happens" the next day- exercises.

Re: POLL: HELP! My back went out a few weeks ago - do I keep going to the chiropractor, or stop seeing him and do exercises?
I voted,"other" so here's my additional words.

I used to have a problem with lower back. It was mainly having to do with not using my stomach muscles to "gird my loins" whenever I bent over to pick up something. When you bend over without first engaging your core or six pack stomach muscles, you are pinching your spinal discs, which often bulge out toward the rear, interfering with all the nerves that radiate out from there. Engaging the stomach first requires re learning how to use your body and that takes a while.
Think of it this way: your gut, or viscera are contained in a sac that is constrained by very thin but tough muscle layer. (If you have ever field dressed a deer, you know how tough that membrane is. It is only easily sliced by a very sharp small hook knife.)
Think of this as a bean bag held tightly to your stomach. Bending over with that bean bag pulled in tight makes your spine stretch, rather than be compressed. Hope this makes sense, it sure helped me. I lift really heavy stuff in my line of work and am now quite old and have few episodes of back problems now. Tough old bastard, in more ways than one.
The spine has several curves. The lumbar region is curved inward toward the front and so a correct adjustment is through the gut toward the rear. Adjusting in any other direction will pop, but makes it worse.
I lay down and hook the foot on the side affected behind the other knee, which slackens the deep layer muscles of this side. Then I make a fist under my stomach and put a bit of upward tension into it. Then, with the other hand, I gently, but forcefully apply traction, usually with the belt I have on my pants. You will feel it when you get it right. Take a deep breath and give it a little nudge and it just pops back.
Often the problem is not the disc, but the facet joints on the back.

I think it was improper lifting one day, and bending over to tie shoes the next day and....BAM! lightning rod pain!

And I guess it's muscles that are sprained or something that makes the spine go out of align.

Yeah probably exercises to address core strength are needed.

When your back went out did you hear a "Pop"?

Ice for the first 72 hours (Off and on)

I have been through this numerous times.

I agree with getting a Tens Unit and Inversion table. (I like my "Teeter").

Does your Chiropractor do the Ultrasound, Massage, adjustment, then Pads or stim routine?? (If not find one that does)
Green Roads CBD 150 Mg Cooling Roll on works wonders. (Don't pay more than $18.99 though)

Once the pain is gone Heat is your friend. Talk to your chiropractor or a Physical therapist about stretches and exercises to do to build you back up. (There are good YouTube vids about this also) You should consider a working routine to do for the rest of your life.

Do you Run?? If so quit and do a low impact workout instead.
Are you Fat?? If so time to get into shape or risk reoccurrence..

If you have room find a good used Bowflex and start using it routinely.

Pain killers and muscle relaxers can be used for the first week to help with the acute pain. (Good luck getting good stuff in todays anti painkiller climate)

Make sure the pain has subsided before you start the rehab..You don't want a Flair up.

I crushed my back in a military accident 15 years ago. Back from l4 to s1 is fused in a cage system with multiple titanium bars screws etc. I went to chiro only a handful of times and they always made me worse. I have issues in my l3 completely pulling out of the socket, my waist legs go numb when this happens and pain level 9 out of ten. The mri looks nasty when this happens like worst cast scoliosis. I find that physical therapy works much better than a chiropractor and there are great YouTube therapist to guide in proper exercise.
