Catastrophic Destruction Leaving Hundreds Dead In Florida Hurricane Aftermath | |

They were the ones who hyped up storms past few years that turned out to be nothing burgers. boy who cried wolf too many times, so when the real one came many people didn't take it seriously. plus fort meyer people were told up until 24 hours before strike that tampa, not fort meyer, would be hit. too late really by then to get out so they hunkered down (and died). Forum Administrator 09/29/2022 09:51 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This storm was a record breaker in size. It was one of the 4 largest to ever hit the state in the last 100 years. Actually, most DID evacuate. Sadly, the storm was of such a magnitude that people were literally stuck in traffic on the 408 as that thing hit. I live here. I was in the orange "voluntary" evacuation zone, but that's a judgement call based on your property and shelter. Most of us DON'T all just run for the hills because there is a definite MANDATORY evacuation in the strike zone. The rest of us who are not in the red usually batten down rather than join the millions who have to leave. Even with days in advance, did you know that jobs do NOT give you time off to prep? They don't. So we all basically have the 2 or 3 days to get out. Did you know the highways can't accomodate that many people trying to leave at once? They can't, and the WORST thing to do is to get stuck in traffic and get hit while in your car. I'm willing to bet a good many deaths are people who were in the process of evacuating, NOT people who chose to batten down and stay. Floridians are well versed in hurricane prep, but we have currently hundrends of thousands of people who came here to live due to economy/vaccine mandates, etc....who had no idea what a hurricane even really was....and that's another area where you will see fatalities. People who had no idea. I take no chances with the storms. A couple years ago, I think it was Laura, heading for the Texas coast. We left the beach house and came home here to an exurb north of Houston metro. Laura ended up smacking Port Arthur and west Louisiana, but better safe than sorry. I rode out a Cat 1 by myself once, when Mr. LJS had to fly a jet to safety (no kids yet, so I hunkered down). Even a Cat 1 will teach you to always respect Mother nature. We lived in Pensacola, I was there for Opal and Ivan, we lived right on the beach also. A couple people in our neighborhood didn’t evacuate for opal it was only cat 3, and suffered the consequences. We also went up to Georgia and stayed with my aunt. I’ll never understand the people that stay, you have so many advanced warnings and yet people sit in their houses thinking they can weather 150 plus winds with storm surge for the coastal neighborhoods. Just fucking leave. Last Edited by H. Rorschach on 09/29/2022 10:13 AM “When you’re dead you’re dead, but you’re not quite so dead if you contribute something” -John Dunsworth |

So they took their chances and stayed home. Joe Biden has blood on his hands. I only pray it was mostly Biden voters that died but I know that can’t be the case. Winter is Coming. |

User ID: 82185873 United States 09/29/2022 10:24 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Most thought the storm was going to hit Tampa directly. That's what the forecast models were saying. It didn't take the eastward jog till yesterday morning. By then it was too late to do anything. They had to hunker down in place. You never really know with a hurricane. That's right, they got the track wrong. We thought it was coming up my way. Everyone here was out getting supplies and preparing, it was a zoo here. But, then it took a turn east and that was it. Too late for those people to leave. It takes a long time to prepare to evacuate, especially if you have kids, pets, elderly, etc. It's not as easy as people think. Right but anyone with a brain would understand that a storm this big is unpredictable and plan accordingly. I am empathetic but also a realist. If you were anywhere on the west coast of Florida you should have made some type of movement. Don't assume the track they predict is legit. Assume they know jack shit and do what you need to do. If everyone tried to evacuate no one could have. You people don't understand logistics. 1. “You can’t fire a cannon, from a canoe!” 2. “Strength is gained in the range it is trained.” 3. “If it doesn’t swim, run, or fly, or isn’t green and grow in the ground, don’t eat it.” 4. “Know that you have complete control over what you put in your mouth. No one ever ate anything by accident.” |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 80700725 United States 09/29/2022 10:31 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This storm was not caused by "climate change", which is unfortunately, a political tool used daily by the left. The storm was caused by weather manipulation, available to both sides of the aisle. I watched the congressional panel (can't remember for what) when a member asked Bill Cohen of Maine directly if we can control the weather. He answered clearly, "Yes." This I believe was in the 70s. It explains why so many aspects of the weather just don't make sense. Throw in the fact that Santos has become very popular with his no-nonsense, truth telling style, and here we are today, fine tuning the direction of a storm, for the most impact, for the benefit of ... Bribery and blackmail are also very powerful tools to insure predictable results. And since Obama, there's no consequence for lying. The media couldn't be happier with that development. I believe all these factors worked together to formulate this tragic event. |
