That's what the forecast models were saying. It didn't take the eastward jog till yesterday morning. By then it was too late to do anything. They had to hunker down in place. You never really know with a hurricane. That's right, they got the track wrong. We thought it was coming up my way. Everyone here was out getting supplies and preparing, it was a zoo here. But, then it took a turn east and that was it. Too late for those people to leave. It takes a long time to prepare to evacuate, especially if you have kids, pets, elderly, etc. It's not as easy as people think. Right but anyone with a brain would understand that a storm this big is unpredictable and plan accordingly. I am empathetic but also a realist. If you were anywhere on the west coast of Florida you should have made some type of movement. Don't assume the track they predict is legit. Assume they know jack shit and do what you need to do. It wasn't supposed to be that big. They were telling everyone it would be a cat 1 and it blew up over night. Evacuating at the last minute isn't easy for some people. daughteroftheking8 |

Quoting: Zell Xan I had dreams I was with them and we were climbing into vehicles and amusement park rides and getting tossed around and actually getting dislodged form our seats or going up and down impossibly twisting roads. Likely a lot of damaged cell towers, so you may hear from the soon. I was balling my eyes out with worry and just now finally heard from older sis who has a house in Naples but she is in Michigan. How did they get it wrong? Because the hurricane lied to them and then double crossed them... I mean really...what a stupid fucking question... Its a god damn hurricane and unpredicable... But hey MSM and don lemmon got it right...its climate change...and they are milking it while people die. LOL...fucking stupid cunts. |

That's what the forecast models were saying. It didn't take the eastward jog till yesterday morning. By then it was too late to do anything. They had to hunker down in place. You never really know with a hurricane. Yep, ya never know. At one point they thought it would weaken before it hit land. I experienced Michael as a Cat 2 and was well inland. As I heard the winds increasing, all I could think of was Jesus asking the apostles why were they afraid while on a boat in the storm. So I tried to keep faith and not be afraid. My yard was covered with debris from the trees. I lost some big limbs but no trees. The power was out for 5 days. Along one highway the poles for the power lines had just snapped for about a mile. My friend lost 2 big, old oaks. One fell on the back of her house. Her husband slept through it. She had to wake him up when the tree fell on the house. In Florida the flooding has just started. It will be over a week in some places for it to go back to normal. Thexwater that is. For some people, it could be months. |

Alot of northern transplants may have never experienced a storm like this. Its simple, if your getting hit directly then GTFO. There was no reason for them to even be concerned in the area. We’re you watching CNN? [link to www.floridadisaster.org (secure)] They are telling the truth. Tampa was evacuated and not Fort Meyers. Lee County residents were told at the last minute that the storm had turned South of Tampa. |

There was no reason for them to even be concerned in the area. Can confirm. In-laws near Tampa moved everything to second story 3 days ago and evacuated. Friends in Ft. Meyers hunkered down for a Cat 2 since the track was north of there. We only got ONE text. "Worst I have ever seen" We haven't heard anything else from anyone. We can only assume elderly relatives are OK. None of them are "rich". I went through Harvey in Houston, and many Hurricanes before that. Y'all have no idea what people in FLA went through. Go to a shelter with a 100 other people for a week and sleep on a cot? Get on a interstate with the trafic packed and crawling at 20 mph? If you get to a hotel it is at least 75 a night and then you can't get back home for several days to a week until they get the roads cleared from trees and power lines. If Hurricane 3+ is projected within 100 miles of you and you are 20 miles or less from coast you should leave no matter what weather guys say. Either that or you can get to a shelter designed to save you from all storm effects including flooding and storm surge. User ID: 78116487 United States 09/29/2022 08:44 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This ( below) was posted last night by Happy in Nature, page 52 on the long thread. Just found out my niece and her husband decided to stay on Sanibel where they live, despite the mandatory evacuation. Probably by then the roads would have been clogged to a standstill anyway. Nice guy, he used to own the ice cream shop in town. They aren't right on the beach, but 14 feet surge, well, the whole island is max 5 feet, so they must have been in an attic. I hope they have some water. Everybody is still waiting to hear, no cell service. from page 52.......Re: Hurricane Ian Info From Gateway Pundit comment: "For those of you who have ever visited us on Sanibel Island please say a prayer for us. Our little island paradise is utterly destroyed. We evacuated but a few folks we know did not. We haven’t heard from them since 3pm high tide. Our famous 120 year old lighthouse is gone. Almost every hotel on the beach is destroyed. Even my home that is elevated 11 feet , 500 yards from the shore and built to the highest code saw a 14 ft surge hit. Right now people are on roofs and in attics and nobody can go help them until tomorrow. This was a devastating storm. I’ve been through 4 hurricanes including Charlie. I’ve seen damage from Katrina, Ike, Mathew ect. None compare to the devastation you will start to see tomorrow on tv." [link to www.thegatewaypundit.com (secure)] |
