Just said it was a woman that was shot and killed.

Deputy responded to some type of disturbance and shot and killed a woman per WWL live.

Sounds like it was pretty rough. She was trying to run over one deputy? I think that's what I heard. And maybe the disturbance was with some Parish workers?

That's insane.

I just don't remember the lines being that long post Katrina.

I do remember that part of the planning after Katrina was that every gas station would have generators to allow them to continue providing service when out of power.

This seems like a much bigger issue.

This annoys people here so much for a couple of reasons:

1. If NOLA had been hit, we would have had coverage 24/7 and people would be aware. Unfortunately for us, NOLA got slightly hit so bye bye news coverage.

2. Our region produces so much of the oil and gas for the whole country yet when a disaster strikes, we get the finger. People in our area waited in line 4 hours today to get gasoline. The guy from FEMA was interviewed and he said the state has to ask or generators for businesses which is effed up. Why can't local officials who know what's going on have the ability to ask for help? We, as a whole, did not support Dumb bel Edwards for governor. Is he being vindictive? Wouldn't be the first politician to withhold help for political reasons.

According to officials, deputies were called to the scene after the unidentified woman allegedly yelled racial slurs at parish workers. Sheriff Joseph Lopinto said that police tried to de-escalate the situation, but the woman started driving, dragging a deputy alongside her car until she got stuck in traffic.

Lopinto said deputies followed her and surrounded the vehicle. She then allegedly hit the gas again and struck a JPSO deputy before another deputy opened fire, killing her.

Since 7am we got 5.5 inches here on the Florida coast.

I know a poster earlier in the thread was talking about the potential for flooding moving up the country. I hate to think about the devastation that Ida is bringing to more people.

So many great things in that update.

I do love Louisiana people. Those lineman are going to be eating some good food.
