No kidding, I may be the only one left to work in my Dept at grocery store tomorrow, the meat mgr took off to Jackson Ms( his wife works for FEMA and put them in a hotel) our store mgr said he might not make it tomorrow cause no gas. All meat Dept employees are low on fuel aswell as other store employees, I might be lone wolf tomorrow.

Hurricane Larry is headed into the north Atlantic

But there is something brewing off the coast of Nicaragua and forecasted to head into the GOM.

Some models have it coming my way to the Tampa area.

This is bound to be a huge problem. People being told to report to work is going to put more of a strain on the gas supplies and traffic on the road. Yet, if people don't report, no one will have access to necessary services.

Not sure how long this will last.

Hurricane Ida destroyed the bridge, according to WDSU, so firefighters are fighting the blaze by boat and with flood pumps.

This is so true.

I can't believe how much has changed in the 16 years since Katrina. Many people don't seem to have prepared ahead of the storm at all. The grocery stores were cleaned out pre storm. Was there just not enough available for everyone? Or were people too broke to do any preps?

I do know that a lot of people have freezers full of seafood and meat. They don't want to lose those supplies so they want to keep their generators going. Back during Katrina, generators weren't running the whole house though. You just used them to run a few things at a time. I don't like being in the heat either, but sometimes you do have to suffer a little bit. Life isn't fair at all, and we all face difficulties from time to time. When I think of those people who have lost everything in the storm, it feels a bit selfish to complain about a lack of power and/or fuel. Human nature though to complain.

You could tell people were absolutely stunned last night by what Ida did

As of right now I got the death toll from Ida as 27 adding the family of 5 found dead in a home. This death toll is very preliminary and will continue to climb possibly for the next 2 months as missing persons are eventually found deceased.

Expecting the final death toll to be well over 100 by time it's all said & done. And with the tornado & flood damage that happened over night I wouldn't be surprised if Ida takes the #3 spot for most costliest hurricane right behind Katrina and Harvey.

This thread needs to be pinned again to note the continued devastation of the North East.

I good with calling it climate change but Chuck Schumer was just on tv saying global warming. I seen deep south Texas get a record breaking hard freeze just 7 months ago.
