Food Costs are skyrocketing! Up over 50% for me anyway.
We go to Costco monthly to feed a family of 4 and have for several years.

Over the last year, we have spent between $422-$465 per visit. We buy very similar items each time.

My wife and I play a little game guessing how much the total will be to pass time while they are ringing us up.

Last visit, she guessed 435 and I guessed 475.

OUR BILL WAS $769 bucks!

I blew a gasket.

Things we bought but don't normally buy-

Batteries- 1 pack each AA AAA D- $45 bucks

Everything else was similar. The highest increases were for beef.

I just got back. I just told my husband everything is much higher but batteries were on sale so didn't see that. That big box of king crab legs is usually $275 it was $375 today. Heavy cream usually $6.99, today $9.99. I didn't get much and spent $360.

Get used to it.... the left and the right ,,, no difference everyone will be paying these high prices from now on.

They dont want to raise interest rates to slow this economy down plus Obiden wants to pass a multi trillion dollar budget.

Got to be careful with what we are buying now. We do NOT buy beef much other than hamburger. We can keep the cost similar. If something is high, not buying it. But it seems you have been consistent and its a good litmus test to how fucked they are making everything. If money is not a problem, just keep on doin what you are doin. If its tight, then absolutely, start cutting things out.

Costco is the only place I trust for ground beef. Everywhere else seems to sell what could only be considered as pink slime.

Here's a tip:

I buy about $40 worth of hamburger (apx. 10 lbs.) then fry it up with onion, pepper and celery. The veggies add bulk. Then I package recipe-sized servings in freezer bags.

It's amazing how many meals I can make from 10 pounds of burger. Casseroles, spaghetti, etc. And usually, there are left-overs from each recipe to boot!
