And I put one of those plastic bar dividers on the belt to bag those separately. So the cashier stops ringing and I tell her it's all included. And she says "Oh, I usually stop at the bar". And I say "sounds like my husband, he usually stops at the bar all the time too". |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77936235 Most everything but produce in my cart was up .10-.30 cents. Produce is down. Good, ill continue to eat produce and be healthy. Ill leave the over priced meats with vaccines, hormones and antibiotics to others who dont mind eating frankenstein foods. You may think you are eating a cow or pig that is eating healthy but i can tell you from my farm magazine subscritions that these animals are eating gluten and chicken crap for fillers..... Thanks, I don't think the prices will come down. I can't even imagine when unemployment runs out. We've never had a real famine in the United States... in my lifetime. No way....Prices WILL NOT come down! Lumber and groceries blasts are here to stay. I know a person who works in a big chain grocery store....last week they had over 2000 Price increases! And things that aren't going up in price, are getting smaller in volume! |

Quoting: Stumpknocker Over the last year, we have spent between $422-$465 per visit. We buy very similar items each time. My wife and I play a little game guessing how much the total will be to pass time while they are ringing us up. Last visit, she guessed 435 and I guessed 475. OUR BILL WAS $769 bucks! I blew a gasket. Things we bought but don't normally buy- Batteries- 1 pack each AA AAA D- $45 bucks Everything else was similar. The highest increases were for beef. I stopped shopping at costco when they went full commie over masks last year. Haven't been back since, and I've saved more money than I ever thought possible. I'll never go back! Anyone who pays to shop in someones store just not using their brain.....the ole sayin about a fool and his money comes to mind.... At Winn Dixied they are selling cut up watermelon in a little plastic tub for 8 bucks now...i turned around and walked back out....no thank you. I went on down the road to Aldi and got what i need. |

If you cook from scratch and avoid processed convenience foods, you can still do ok. It's worth it to buy quality meat even if it costs more and cook it up with rice, beans, or pasta and some vegetables. |

User ID: 80454739 United States 06/07/2021 06:27 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Important question. As prices rise, demand tapers. Supply will want to rise to snag a piece of the high margin market (that isn't much of a market, 'cause most people won't pay that juicy price). Things will find a new equilibrium, probably higher than they were "before", but a seeming bargain compared to now. A 2x4 (not food, but a good example) might drop to a ridiculous $5. Hey, better than $10. When it's all stabilized, some sectors will have carved a slightly larger wedge of the big pie. Some will have lost a fraction. A scarier question: what happens when prices start reacting to the rise in other prices, and someone decides they need to add another 20% to their price? And then another? I could see it happening. And the gubbermit would insist that their "marketbasket" was rising at a 3.8% annual rate. |

Quoting: Elisa Unfortunately things are only going to get worse. For the vast majority of Conservatives who own assets the inflationary spiral will be great. I recall a great man saying, "Democrat Governments are great for business." No, I don't agree with much that he’s said since he started his 2016 presidential campaign, and recent revelations have rightly drawn opprobrium. But since I’m also an agreeable old southerner, I’ll give credit where credit is due. Donald was absolutely right when he told Wolf Blitzer in 2004: “I’ve been around for a long time and it just seems that the economy does better under the Democrats than the Republicans.” [link to www.forbes.com (secure)] |
