Organic Apple Juice cost me $6.49 today

Philadelphia Cream Cheese- $3.99

Pita Chips- Small bag $2.99

Cat food- $8.99

With Tax today over $24.00
 Quoting: christian

Yes, dry cat food is very expensive so I buy the biggest bags they have so that it is cheaper per oz. I feed a lot of ferals/strays. The wet food is too expensive.
 Quoting: FightForGod!

I feed my ferals rice + canned tuna. Buy tuna @ 50cents a can when on sale. They LOVE it !

I live in the desert, anybody know the best way to trap rattlesnakes? I hear they taste like chicken. Rattlesnake tacos or burritos sounds good.
 Quoting: Mr.Sunshine

I've eaten fried rattlesnake and it was a horrible chewy mess. Almost flavorless I'd never eat it again.

Try Aldi for food, and for durables like batteries, order online after comparing prices on ebay.com, walmart.com, and amazon.com.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77286513

Here I can help on the batteries:

Tenergy at Amazon. 100 count AAA for $19.99! These are what I use.

T-bone steaks with a big loin for $2.99/lb. here at Sav-A-Lot. Gotta get there early for the marked down meat & to get the best choice (ones with no browning or smell). I marinated them immediately in Worcestershire + fresh garlic. Grilled for a great lunch. Buy smart & prosper!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75394950

That's where I buy my discount meats. If you freeze them immediately then the close expiration date does not matter. Also, remember that the most tender beef is AGED. Think about what that really means. :)

Well golly, maybe it's time to cut back the number of mouths to feed. I mean, seriously, how many does anyone really need? One mouth should be enough to do all the cooking, cleaning, laundry, and yardwork. Any more than that is just wasteful.

I scored a 29 ounce rotisserie chicken from the large supercenter place this evening. Normally $4.50, discounted 40% because it'd been sitting there for a few hours.

So I got 114g of protein (with no antibiotics, ever) for $2.80 + tax. Probably not a free range chicken. Oh, well. Moist and tasty, and probably more protein than I've been exposed to all year.

Overall, I don't think the hated supercenter's prices have jumped much. On the other hand, the large Cincinnati-based grocer has raised quite a few prices on the oder of 15-25%. But they have weekly sales, as long as you have their dumb Plus! card. I pretty much shop sale items, period. And if they review my shopping history, they can see this. I wouldn't be surprised if they baned me, since they lose money (razor-thin profit margins, you know /sarc) every time I enter their store.

I was forced to adjust to a much more vegan-leaning diet, due to developing a form of osteoarthritis. It worked, and it also made me have to buy way less meat. I realise now that this type of eating is going to be the only way to afford food, doesn't it seem to be by design?

Just made seasoned rice with mixed vegetables in the pressure cooker, and then added can of white chicken that only cost $2 and some lemon - something to keep in the fridge to fill hungry tummies. Eggs are also still affordable, lots of options, and tuna. Summarise with frozen peas and then top it with a warm can of tuna. Drizzle with butter and lemon juice, really good. Or tuna on a nice salad, or in tuna rice casserole.

I also loaded the freezer with uncured ham that was on clearance at the discount market because it was about to expire. Filled my freezer, as pork is also skyrocketing. I have all different kinds of legumes and beans that I can add the pork to, to make various soups... a little carrot and celery and onion powder, and you have a meal.

I have also taught myself how to make a halfway decent veggie burger, those taste pretty good with barbecue sauce on them. I make them with things like sweet potato, cooked millet, brown rice, nutritional yeast, sunflower seeds, egg, chia, seasonings, et cetera. And if I don't have time to make them, they are only about a $1.50 each at the discount grocery. I fry those up in a pan with some sliced, seasoned zucchini, makes for a nice meal.

I have managed to get my body used to the less meat diet (vitamins must be taken) and now sometimes I only eat meat about once A-day, and my other meals, as stated are more plant based. Sometimes I also lightly fry/brown some cubed, non-GMO tofu up in a pan, and eat that with whatever I have. It adjusts to pretty much anything you put it with, and if you top it with some Braggs aminos while you are cooking it, really tasty.

Food costs have barely budged in east TN. Maybe a little in the meat dept. Gas increased but that was by design(Colonial false flag hack by FBI).

Costco is the only place I trust for ground beef. Everywhere else seems to sell what could only be considered as pink slime.

Here's a tip:

I buy about $40 worth of hamburger (apx. 10 lbs.) then fry it up with onion, pepper and celery. The veggies add bulk. Then I package recipe-sized servings in freezer bags.

It's amazing how many meals I can make from 10 pounds of burger. Casseroles, spaghetti, etc. And usually, there are left-overs from each recipe to boot!

Do NOT buy beef in a chub. You cannot see what you are getting, and it will be an odd texture and color.
 Quoting: FightForGod!

I buy it all the time. The key is to make sure it states both "fine ground" and is declared to be "ground chuck". I get mine from either Restaurant Depot or Sam's Club. Restaurant Depot is angus beef. Their pure tube meat tastes better than what I can get at local grocery stores these days. I gave up.

Just had a friend send me a text about some ribs she bought for $20 a few days ago were almost $50 now.

I picked up a few packs of bacon day before yesterday and when I went into the store yesterday they had jumped in price almost $2.

It's going to get worse, the inflation hasn't even gotten started yet and it's not just food, it's going to be everything.
