I am glad to see interest in the thread today. It is really overdue, and almost too late, to do anything. I got so depressed after the roundup last year, deeply sad about the loss of life when those horses saved me in so many ways.

I ran into an interesting case as well. "Louisiana Army Base Infested With Plague of 700 Wild Horses." Those horses had been on that base for decades and then all of a sudden "headlines" like that and then it all kinda went silent. Very odd.

Do you know of that case? It was the first time I had heard of it. I am with my mother now, oddly enough, and she and I were both taken aback about why there seemed to be like some mad rush to move those horses after they had been there so long. Much less the type of language that was being used about them, i.e. "plague."

There have been a lot of shenanigans with the Ft. Polk horses, if they are one of the same as the ones in LA you are referring to. They will be removing them all shortly.

The govt is decimating the horse herds at a fevered pace. I think it is the big cash in for slaughter while they can get away with it. Lots going missing.

I was blessed with lots of beautiful pictures of those wild horses before they were rounded up, as if the Universe wanted me up there for the whole thing. For years I never ventured up there, why, well - life I guess, but when I rediscovered the area I was in heaven, I had found heaven, and the horses welcomed me and made me one of their family. I spent every day off I had up there and then there was an emergency roundup and they were all taken away. It was devastating. But the pictures that I got and the experiences I had speak to the magic of the moments I had with them.

Yes, Lumminessa, the nature of the magic of moments.

This is a film about a man and a fish
This is a film about dramatic relationship between man and fish
The man stands between life and death
The man thinks
The horse thinks
The sheep thinks
The cow thinks
The dog thinks
The fish doesn't think
The fish is mute, expressionless
The fish doesn't think because the fish knows everything
The fish knows everything

An update by George Knapp, and another to follow this evening. Great new stuff being uncovered and divulged about the BLM shenanigans.

I-Team: Madeleine Pickens' Mustang Monument in jeopardy

[link to www.lasvegasnow.com]

"...The BLM didn't like the first ranch she chose, so she spent $6 million to buy two others in Elko County south of Wells, more than 20,000 deeded acres, and nearly 600,000 acres of public allotments attached. BLM documents show Pickens was prepared to take 30,000 wild horses out of government pens.

Pickens and her team say they not only had the backing of members of Congress, but also the head of the BLM itself...."

"Plus they were excited about it and he told everybody at the wild horse and burro meeting that I was doing this project. He shook my hand and said thank you very much," Pickens said.

"I was there, with other members of the team, and he made assurances to Madeleine that it was a great project and that they would support her," Jerry Reynoldson said.

The ranches she bought were located in beautiful country but had been neglected and overgrazed for decades. Pickens jumped through every hoop BLM put up, spent millions more to restore the ranch structures, along with a few dozen wells and springs over the vast range so that she could grow enough hay to feed her mustangs and still lease out some land to other cattle ranchers, an income source that would mean her foundation could be financially self-sufficient forever.

But along the way, the BLM changed its tune. First it asked that Pickens suspend all grazing for three years so the range could recover. She agreed. BLM said it would require a comprehensive study of her allotment even though the bureau has been managing this same range since the agency was created. BLM documents show such a study would take 18 months. Seven years later, Pickens is still waiting for BLM to finish it.

"You've been studying this land the entire life of BLM management. If you don't know what's going on here, no study is going to help you," Pickens said...."

Re: Wild Horse Shenanigans - Management Into Extinction - UPDATED
Internal documents from BLM show the agency concluded years ago that the Pickens model would save the taxpayers more than $100 million, but it hasn't allowed a single horse to be transferred to her operation. Pickens bought a herd of more than 600 mustangs that were bound for a slaughterhouse. BLM won't allow them on any of the 600,000 public acres, so Pickens takes care of them on her deeded acres, or did until vandals trespassed onto her property, slashed her fences, and disabled all the water for a herd in the Goshute Valley.

Pickens says she doesn't expect much from the official investigation into the crime, and has concluded the BLM will never allow her eco-sanctuary to open.

"They keep moving the finish line, while saying this, and how do you work with people like that?"

The I-Team filed a Freedom of Information with the BLM to obtain internal documents which migh show why the Pickens project has been stymied for so long.

A reward of $100,000 is still being offered for information about the vandals.

I-Team: Madeleine Pickens' losing battle with the BLM

[link to www.lasvegasnow.com]

"...An obscure road is an example, Pickens planned to use it to transport tourists from her guest accommodations to deeded property on the other side of her range for cookouts and to see the herd of horses that was living out there, that is, until vandals cut the fences and the horses either died or ran off. BLM won't allow the use of the rarely traveled access road.

"BLM has given her four or five pages of questions about what she would do on the road which include, where would people go to the bathroom? The answer is, it's a short enough drive they wouldn't go anywhere but they don't want to know where, they want to know how many times would they stop, how many times would they need to use a facility. Silly questions," Reynoldson said.

A road that's been trod for a century by cows, sheep and horses can't be used to transport visitors because someone might have to pee."

"...In public statements, BLM said it wanted to work with Pickens, but privately, it's another matter. Public records obtained by the I-Team show that BLM staff plotted the demise of Pickens plan from the beginning. A 2008 white paper discusses how the law could be used to prevent the project. BLM blacked out the details as being privileged information.

BLM declined to be interviewed for this report, but in a written statement explained why, after seven years, the bureau still has not completed an environmental review. We need more information, the BLM told the I-Team and since there are "unresolved issues" with the Pickens plan, no such analysis would be appropriate.

In one candid memo, BLM admits an unspoken concern that the proposal would be politically perilous in cattle-friendly Elko County.

BLM staffers imposed ever-changing conditions that they knew would stir up opposition, not only from ranchers but also from wild horse advocates, such as forcing the roundup of existing horses on the range, making all of the Pickens horses sterile, and putting fences around the entire public acreage...."

Looks like they tried to get her to sign away the water and grazing rights to the properties, they meaning THE BLM. So happy George Knapp is uncovering the shenanigans.

So obvious that the local community and government were shenanigating the opening of this wonderful project for the horses and humans. I am so thankful for George Knapp, he is uncovering what needs to be shown to the public. It didn't escape my attention that Madeline hired locals, which was probably to her detriment.

I-Team: Elko County's strict building codes raise questions

[link to www.lasvegasnow.com]

"A California businesswoman who invested $25 million in creating a tourist attraction in rural Nevada says she probably wouldn't make the same decision again.

The founder of the Mustang Monument wild horse sanctuary in Elko County says that further investment would be a waste of money because she's been blocked from opening, not only by the BLM, but also by Elko County officials who say they don't want to support anything that keeps wild horses on the range.

Madeleine Pickens is rich, blonde, female, and is from California, and those are four strikes against her in some circles.

But the fact that she wants to create a sanctuary for wild horses in a county known for its ranching industry is what probably doomed her Mustang Monument project. Ranchers are not fans of the BLM, but animosity toward wild horses is the one issue on which both of those camps can agree.
"

The video is worth watching. I am amazed no one is commenting on these recent discoveries here. Guess real conspiracy isn't interesting anymore....? Check out the kitchen they made her build, that she isn't even allowed to use....
