I agree with you. Whoever the vandal is, it is a sick, radicalized person. I also think that any law enforcement agency investigating this crime should be looking at the cases in Idaho and considering the possibility that these crimes are connected. These crimes occured in areas only 3-4 hours by car apart. I was unaware of the Rupert case until now:

Dee had a wound in her side and her nasal cavity was shattered, according to the AP report.

Now Armstrong is raising money on a GoFundMe page for a reward to find the people who killed Dee. By Thursday morning, the page raised more than $3,000.

She’s also recalling another abuse incident from last year. Just about an hour away from where Dee died is Rupert, where Patches the Shetland pony was brutalized in 2015.

In September 2015 a Rupert pony named Patches was mutilated so badly he had to be euthanized the following day, according to a Times-News report.

The old pony was a pet to Hugo and Daniela Lopez, who had three young children: Ethan, 6, Derrick, 4 and Jacob, 3. The children and their neighbors would ride Patches and the pony helped keep the neighbors’ weeds at bay.

One night an unidentified suspect took the pony and dragged it behind a vehicle for almost a mile and a half. Patches’ eyes were beaten, his skin was slashed from his hindquarters and his abdomen was punctured, according to the report."

Whoever this person is, they are beyond sadistic. This is definitely terror type crime against wild horses. Is the FBI involved with the investigation, yet? If not, why not? Is this false flag terror committed by someone who want to further inflame tensions among the horse advocate, rancher and gov't agencies who are already ready for war over the issue? I personally know thousands of people on all sides of the controversy. I don't know any one even close to messed up enough to brutally murder horses over it, though.

We had a Night-blooming cereus and one night the bats came. They would fly from plant to plant in a flash and shake the entire plant when the landed in the flower and wallowed in the pollen.

It was one of the most amazing things I had ever witnessed. Even though one could not even see the little buggers fly. They were so fast.

Though one time I did stop on the side of the interstate having seen some dust like something coming down from the side of a mountain. I thought yes, maybe, yes. Then sure enough, wild horses ran by.

A lot of ranchers have no clue what is going on. They just know that the BLM is using conflated issues like endangered tortoises or sage grouse to cancel their grazing permits entirely. If you look at some of the Bundy threads on here there is a lot of info on how and why the BLM does what it does. I feel like the ranchers and wild horse people could and should get along and try to work together. By using divisive tactics, the BLM and those multi national corps interested in exploiting the natural resources will defeat them both easily. That is what I was trying to get at before. Are these crimes against horses committed by someone trying to ignite a bigger war between ranchers and wild horse advocates in order to justify taking them both out? All the BLM would have to do is round up the remaining mustangs, cancel all grazing permits and it's over for everyone.

I remember now, and no it wasn't a barrel cactus, one of the lobed kind, and in my yard one is 20 feet high which is the one that was blooming. How are you doing ? Nice to see you on the thread!

It broke my heart to bury my adopted wild horse of 32 years a few months ago. And it makes me furious what Government has done and continues to do to animals land and people in their addiction to control and self serving quest.

Horses are never wild or free.

The government kills thousands of horses each year. When they own half the west coast, and people can no longer afford to feed/provide medical care to 1000s of horses, they can't use them for dog food, or glue, as the government shut them down and they can't release them onto public lands (which is a majority controlled by the BLM in Washington).....

the end result is hundred of thousands of horses (and other wildlife) die each year because of BLM in Washington.

I removed several posts that had nothing to do with wild horses. Nothing really to be concerned about. I thought I was being shilled at the time, because I guess one of my regular posters on here though I was Madeline or associated with her closely. No worries.

I am glad to see interest in the thread today. It is really overdue, and almost too late, to do anything. I got so depressed after the roundup last year, deeply sad about the loss of life when those horses saved me in so many ways.

I ran into an interesting case as well. "Louisiana Army Base Infested With Plague of 700 Wild Horses." Those horses had been on that base for decades and then all of a sudden "headlines" like that and then it all kinda went silent. Very odd.
