They won't feed you in the ER. My mom had the same experiences. Most of the good nurses were forced out because they refused the vaxx. Sleep with one eye open when that blue haired dyke is working. Hang in there, you'll be free from that hell-hole soon. |

Why the glorification? I don’t get it, every time I’ve been in the ER I’ve been largely ignored, I almost would rather die at this point than go back to the ER. Good luck getting a cup of water while the nurses are laughing amongst themselves. Yeah such an honorable job. Worst thing they do is deal with bed wounds and they get paid handsomely for it. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 82212880 There are no " the nurses". You are sharing one RN with 10 other patients and she is run off her feet with stuff you don't understand. The staff you see hanging around in the hallway are not nurses, they are minimum wage workers who have no health care training and cannot help with anything. They certainly are not going to get pressed into being assistant nurses nor try to help. No way. They don't care if your nurse is drowning and so overloaded with critical stuff that she cannot push past it to deal with your bullshit. Unfortunately, the criminals in hospital management have been able to get away with slashing nurse numbers and throwing untrained, non-nursing minimum wage workers on the wards instead of nurses. They get away with it (and kill patients doing it) because you stupid fucks cannot tell the difference between a nurse and an orderly. It's amazing how patients and visitors will observe untrained non-nursing staff in the area and think what those people are doing is somehow indicative of how busy the nurse is. The minute I hear someone say "the nurses" I already know I am listening to a dipshit who 1) doesn't understand that they are sharing one nurse with 10 people and 2) uses the word 'nurse' to describe any staff member they see from an orderly to a lab tech. I also realize that I am talking to a dipshit that doesn't understand acuity. You are sharing your nurse with acutely ill complex people and all of your probably need you own one to one RN to get what you need when you need it and be safe. Administration will let her go to jail if any of her patients get killed because she lost time because others were on the call bell or making requests of her. As I said, the minimum wage workers hanging around on the unit don't do shit and have no liability. Four patients per nurse is dangerous and impossible. When administrators cut down the allowed nurse numbers to make it 10 patients per nurse they did it on the orders of the CMS to save money and cause harm. That was me I wasn't logged in. Right, I got charged $94 for a rubber heel 1/4th inch insert, the kind you buy at Walgreen's for $5.00; later my podiatrist found out I was almost a complete inch off in my heel. I take my thyroid Dr. blood tests in with me to show them so that they don't order them and charge me a fortune. Last time I had thyroid panels, D3, Parathyroid, and CMP at hospital it was $1600 and my share was $367. At Qwest Diagnostics I paid $172.00 for same tests, WIth Ulta I got all the tests on sale above for $100 last month for my next visit, can take them to Qwest for draw. Can go to local health dept. and get most for about $100 too...screw these hospitals their costs are OUT OF CONTROL! |

Four patients per nurse is dangerous and impossible. When administrators cut down the allowed nurse numbers to make it 10 patients per nurse they did it on the orders of the CMS to save money and cause harm. All true. They’ve been running nurses like a 3rd world shit hole for decades. You wouldn’t believe how nurses and therefore patients are treated in america. Yes I do. It's more abusive to be a nurse than to be a patient. I have done enough of both. So many patients are getting killed by other patients causing medical errors. When they don't get whatever it is they are fixated on when they want it the first thing they do think that the nurse is ignoring them (especially if they are seeing non-nursing staff hanging around) . With that they end up distracting their nurse away from cardizem and insulin drips and causing fatal errors. The other shitty thing is the computer system that the government mandated. The nurse has no way of getting a hold of your (or the other 9 patients she is responsible for) medications or anything else without doing hours of computer shit. It could take her 45 minutes of abandoning her respiratory distress patient just to get her hands on the pain meds you are demanding so that she can give them to you. To the pain patient, this translates as " the nurse is making me wait". And even when management has cut the staffing levels so low that 10 patients are sharing one nurse who has no help these fucking people are like "the nurses, the nurses, the nurses". They literally think that there are herds of nurses around who can just give them undivided attention and instantly produce anything they want. Then the universities lie and say there’s a shortage so more people try to get a job as a nurse. That just lowers the wages and they ship people in from other countries. |

She always tells me if I have any little problem with anyone while in a hospital's care to contact the hospital's ombudsman, and that person will move mountains for you and your well being. I've never had to call on one, but perhaps you should see if you can....because you're getting the shaft, and you need help. I'm sincerely praying you get some health, some answers, and you can get home as soon as possible, lovey.... You never change things by fighting the existing reality. Seems crazy for inventory control. They are also likely tagged and would set off an alarm if they went out the door. I haven't been in a hospital in 35 years, so I guess they changed. I had cute white nurses that waited on me hand and foot. I had chicken pox as an adult and could not have had better care. Saved my life they did. Zovirax had just been released as an experimental drug. I was hours away from being dead. They put a bunch of that stuff into an IV and I could tell I was cured almost instantly. Probably had 100 times the normal dosage. Burnt like fire going in the vein. DOn't they have the Healthmaster Inferno yet? :) Last Edited by JustmeTX on 06/08/2022 05:17 PM Justme |

Other than that, they took real good care and NOTHING BUT YOUNG BEAUTIFUL NURSES took care of me. I couldn't believe it. On my third day, they said they we're going to let me go home. So I asked a nurse if I can remove my catheter as I wanted to pee on my own. As I was getting ready to go and yank it---SHE DID IT! I just looked at her and said 'oh, that's much better' and went to the RR. Then a BIGGER nurse came in later, never seen her before. She did the same thing, 'I need to check your scar' and I had put on my underwear by then. She started yanking my briefs to take them off, I said 'it's right there, you can see it' as I was holding my underwear from being yanked off. She said 'oh, it's healing'. Weirdo! Damn! That was really uncomfortable. But yeah, great place, they let me come home and I was so happy. I figured 'if I die, God can take me from here.' HOSPITALS ARE LONELY!!! That's the reason it sucks. Not that I disagree with your assessment in general here but that hospital you are currently in may have been good but no longer is that is for certain. In the last 10 years hospital managers have: 1. cut down RN numbers by about 60% and taken away their support staff. Seeing orderlies, transporters, and phlebotomists hanging around the unit is not indicative of correct Nurse staffing. 2. Cut food service to the bare bone. I could not get food for my patients, which is something I was trying to juggle while managing 8 or 10 critical patients with no help. The catering staff are non English speaking illegals who ignore the nurse and don't do their jobs. They don't care if patients are screaming at the nurse and pulling her away from critical patients because they didn't get their food. 3. They cut housekeeping to the bare bone. They outsourced cleaning to some shitty company that hires illegals who stand around and don't clean. I guess that is cheaper than having in house cleaners like we used to have. The people who make these decisions know that you guys will lash out at the nurse rather than management. 4. They cut ICU beds and staff even though there is a demographic time bomb with elderly and chronically ill/ complex patients. These people need one to one RN care 24/7 yet they are getting turfed out onto general wards with no nurses and no resources on the orders of management, who then refuse to respond to the nurse's request for help. 5. The nonclinical helper staff have IQ's of 30 and help with nothing. The nurse is drowning with no help. #2 and #3 have really escalated within the past two years. I believe any patient who says their room is dirty and that they didn't get food. Then, you're gonna see a "Hospitalist" DR on the floor because Doctors in private practice don't want to make "rounds" anymore, or their group has been bought by a Big Group that has Hospitalists on contract and the Private practice Docs have to cede control to the Hospitalist. Nothing but old people where I was. Very depressing. If you have a wound site of any kind your nurse has to check it at certain times and document on it every few hours or she gets in a huge amount of trouble. Quoting: Countryboyseein 81450974 6 years ago I had a massive heart attack, wife not home so I drove to closest hospital(barely made it to the door). I wasn't at all impressed with my Pakistani doctor, but my nursing care was beyond impressive, in the critical cardiac care unit. They checked on me so often, I asked them to stop. I was fed basically anything I asked for... and if I was still hungry, they would get me more. Maybe, as some have posted that's a crap hospital... can't say I've ever or will ever be there, but it's not fair to say all hospital staff are BAD It's not like that now because of all the cuts and they are working short staffed, barely hanging on to being on top of critical tasks. Went to hosp yesterday and found one that treated me great. Belly button injury. They got me right in, did blood work, wisked me to cat scan and had fluids and pain meds soon as I came back. I never ask for pain meds so was very glad. Got a prescription for antibiotics and they sent results to doctor already. All I did different? I didn't complain once. Busied myself on phone and answered their questions truthfully. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 83196887 Belly Button injury … |
