There's a reason for everything, although we usually don't see it at the time that it's happening. I think THIS is the year when REAL changes occur. Anonymous Coward User ID: 327736 Canada 10/29/2008 11:40 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I dont know if you fixed the prob , got lazy after page 3 lol. wow, 48 processes,.. I only have about 20 goin on at any given time ,..max. you tried the flash re-install, and hopefully nixxed out all of your unnecessary programs that start at start up, one service that should be shut off for certain is messenger, not ms instant messenger, but "windows messenger", its in your services list, shut it off , its a back door used by microsloth techs to service/ talk to a machine they are not directly in front of , hackers know of and have taken that into light when programming/making nasty little things that like to slow our comps down. I suggest trying to surf youtube with different browsers, explorer(not recomended tho) , firefox, and safari, hell even Winamp has a browser :). And possibly you could call your isp and ask if they have a bandwidth limit for youtube viewing, its not likely but not implausible . good luck. :) |
TEXAS UNCENSORED User ID: 538327 United States 10/29/2008 11:52 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Hey Scorpios...did you just download some new software? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 512435Or get some recent updates? I HATE the updates, they ALWAYS seem to do something to screw up my machine... :( Best of luck... Yeah..mine too and even lately it shuts down by itself,..and restarts again...always with some anomaly there after... Sorry to have to tell you this, but your hard drive is probably in need of retirement. The same thing happened to me a week or so ago. After what you describe, it then started booting up & shutting down, over & over again. I tried repair from XP CD. It worked one boot up. then I tried reformating and repair. Got one boot up. then I reformatted & repaired 3 more times. When the reformat was at 2% after 8 hours, I knew that the hard drive was done. I bought an 80 GB hard drive at Frye's Electronics for $40. Great Deal. I installed it myself while I was cooking dinner. It took 15 minutes from opening the case, install, and closing the case. It was easy. Two screws in the top of bracket, 4 in the harddrive to bracket, unplug , slip the new one in, screw it down, replace the thing in the case bracket, 2 screws, plug in the hard drive plugs, replace the case, and Voila' ! It won't speed up the Ram, but it gives you a nice stable system again. |

TEXAS UNCENSORED User ID: 538327 United States 10/30/2008 12:31 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The hard part was plugging in all those cords again at the back of the puter. I replaced the cd player/burner a few months ago, nice Memorex 52x. It's a cd burnin' fool, it is, came with Nero OEM. Next step, upgrading the 256 Ram to as much as the mother board can handle. |
