TEXAS UNCENSORED User ID: 538327 United States 10/29/2008 08:02 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | OP, RAM Idle SE is a program I have used for years. It is a freebee. It puts an icon on your task bar that shows how much RAM is being used, and allows you to free up more as you need it. Highly recommend it ! [link to www.download.com] Another program that I liked so much, free edition, that I bought the upgrade. Worth the small price if you like the free version, and you will ! ACE Utilities Tools include Unneeded File Remover, for regaining valuable disk space; Registry Cleaner, for preventing application crashes; Startup Organizer, for preventing spy applications from running behind your back; History Eraser, for ensuring your privacy; Duplicate File Finder, for finding and removing duplicate files; Dead Shortcut Fixer, for fixing and removing shortcut and Start menu errors; Uninstaller Plus, for uninstalling applications correctly; Disk Analysis, for analyzing your hard disk; Secure Delete, for deleting files permanently; and Cookie and Plug-in managers, for erasing the history of more than 200 applications. Your computer will boot faster and run applications more smoothly. The program will help you delete your Internet cache, cookies, temp files, visited page history, and all other recent document info. [link to www.download.com] Another cleaner I use is Registry Repair Pro, free version, have to do a lot of clicking after the first 15 deletes, but it isn't a problem. A new one that I like, Advanced WindowsCare Personal 100% Freeware [link to www.iobit.com] |

Anybody have a clue as to where all my 'controls' went? tia I've never heard of that one. I wouldn't know where to start fixing that problem. "why in the hell would it do that" does CONTROL + ALT + DELETE work? What os? C-Alt-Del was the very first thing I learned...on Windows 95! Right now I have Windows 2000 and C-A-Del brings up TaskManager , although I've begun using Rota's trick, lol! Anyway, either of those brings up TaskManager. The problem I'm having is that the only thing I get is the graph page...with no menu up top. And no Close or Cancel button at the bottom, etc. My machine went a wee bit wonky the other evening, and I'm not sure why. I've got it back to working again...'cept for this pesky little detail... I use TaskManager a LOT! LoL! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Fear is no policy and surrender is not an option ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace with Justice ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 534182 United States 10/29/2008 08:46 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | For the last couple of days whenever I use youtube my computer really slows down. The video starts skipping and goes real slow. My computer follows with the slowness. I close the youtube page and it stops. I have never had this problem before. Anyone know why this happens? Quoting: **Scor~Pios**Easy fix, Step one, open up your case (or one of the slots on your notebook), inside is a little guy called a Gremlin. be careful, he is a nasty little fella, you grab him by the neck and strangle the little S%$&^ until he turns blue (the same color as a smurf). step 2. then, open one of your door or window and throw the %$#$$%% out. make sure to tell him never to come back. Warning, If the Gremlin returns, smack his little head on the desk or table repeatedly until the snot drains out of him...then throw him out again. he is not too dangerous in computer, however on planes you might have something to worry about. Hope this Helps |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 538050 United States 10/29/2008 08:48 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Just a little suggestion: If you follow all the advice given here you'll end up spending the next couple of weeks learning a lot more about the inner workings of a PC than you want to know. In the end you may get a little better performance out of your computer. You might also end up with a case of gonorrhea. There's also a high likelihood that your computer will need professional help and you'll need therapy. A few months from now, you will have forgotten all you learned except one lesson - DON'T GO TO A LUNATIC FRINGE CONSPIRACY FORUM FOR COMPUTER ADVICE! |

Go to this GLP rock video page, and click on the play button of any embedded video. so that it plays in the page, instead of opening the YouTube site. If you experience the same thing, it will be indicative of a system problem. If the slow-down does not occur, then it is safe to say it has to do with YouTube site. Thread: ~^* The Official *80s COCK ROCK* Thread *^~ Of the Win2K Task Mgr problem (missing buttons): Is the user account you are running under an account with limited, or full priveleges? Limited often does cause exclusions of window functions. Someone also missing dlls - very probable as well. Do you know how to run System File Checker? It will scan your computer for missing/corrupt files. Problem is, if you have no install CD, you will have to write down what files are missing, then install them. I don't recall if SFC (that file check) will allow you to navigate a path to where the backup files, if I am thinking correctly (pphhfftt) it wants the CD - period. If that's the case, installing the missing files would have to be done manually, which involves adding them to the registry (done via command prompt) That will be $95 please (eh, inflation man !!!)
