Because Abortion is the final (Grand finale) attempt by Satan to stop the end time prophet from growing up to an adult and receiving instruction .. It first happened with 1- Moses.. Pharoah ordered Kill all firstborn Hebrewed males to prevent the (Deliverer) he heard about from growing up to a man and would confront his rule.. 2- Jesus ,Herod ordered Kill all male children up to 2 years old to prevent the messiah from growing up to receive kingship over him.. 3 - The prophesied end time prophet Elijah from book of Malachi who would come just before the horrible day of the Lord.. Abortion (Today) is / was to try to prevent Elijah from being born- grow up and receive instruction from God.. It has cost many, many millions of murders as this is Satan's great (last) effort. The world has reached it's end moment. And Satan knows his time is short for the past 60 years.. It is all out war for him. It is no different than Moses or Jesus.. Kill kill kill.. For some reason (Which we do not understand) Satan believes he can (Kill) his future executioner by (retro actively) killing him before he can be raised up to adult hood (as a human) and receive instruction from God.. If you watch the 1984 movie (The Terminator) this same language was used.. Do not laugh.. God works in mysterious ways and parables to show examples... This (male) end time prophet is here (now) and about to launch .. He did not get aborted.. Satan failed.. so stop worrying it is just a matter of who he is.. will we know him.. be on the lookout.. In the end abortion will be judged by God as (They know not what they do) so to all the aborters out there you will have a chance.. so there is that!

In purely pragmatic terms, if it were illegal, it could become an excuse for extreme intervention.

Why should we pity them when they impose on society and create unwanted children?

Mostly because I know good men who were robbed of their chance to be a father by an ex who didn't want to be a mother.

But on the grand scale, it only hurts those that shouldn't have children and prevents those would-have-been children from being turned into weapons.

So while I would never turn down the opportunity to punish an abortionist or a person that participated in an abortion, I can't in good conscience say I'm not glad on some level they're happening.

What if according to natural law... procreation or carrying on of your genes is a type of self preservation and thus infanticide is contrary to natural law.

We're against it because it is the violent destruction of an innocent human life. But besides that, it's bad for society for a lot of reasons. How can a society have justice if it will not protect even its weakest citizens? The demographic problem we're facing now is due, in large part, to abortion. Additionally, there are a lot of assumptions in your post that should be reconsidered. It seems you're not even considering the thousands of quality parents out there who want to adopt. We have at least 3 families at my church right now that stand ready and willing to adopt, and help pay for the girl's healthcare throughout the pregnancy. There is so much misinformation and tunnel-visioned lies presented by the media today--come out to the country and see real love and strong families raising the children who will keep this world going as leftists try to tear it apart. That's why they hate us--we have answers and hope where they have only hate.
