Commandment means Law, yes we only had the one.

It's not a sin to not go to work, you just go hungry.
 Quoting: IfYouInsist

No, commandment doesn't mean law. And neither of those are capitalized.
 Quoting: -Kate-

The ten commandments are the laws of God - Torah in the old testament.
Even Jesus refers to them as the Law.

Matthew 5:18
18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.
 Quoting: Spur-Man

Presumably, since saying not to eat from the tree is a command, you will also forgo pain management while in labor as he says to 'bring forth in pain,' right?

Re: Let's talk about God

All man had was one Command from God - "Don't eat from the Tree of good and evil"
 Quoting: Spur-Man

Yes, and God knew they'd eat it before creating them, but still chose to create them, and the tree, and the snake. Which means he directly caused it.

That is, if you actually believe this story happened.
 Quoting: -Kate-

I believe the story, and it all began in the Heavens, the Angels and us were all given Free Will. Why? How deep is Love if you force it? Not genuine right? God wanted genuine Love from us, so He had to give us Free will to do this.
 Quoting: Spur-Man

God KNEW with 100% certainty that Adam would eat the apple when he made him, right? Therefor it was not possible for Adam to not do it. So he didn't actually have a choice at all, just the illusion of choice.

God could have created a scenario where Adam didn't eat the apple, but he chose the scenario where Adam did eat the apple, so that he could torture billions of people in Hell, then sacrifice his own son to himself. Just coz.

An irrelevant point, because the 10 commandments didn't exist in the Garden of Eden.

If by 'learn' you mean blindly accept stories about magic, talking snakes, and blood sacrifices, then yes.

In reality, I do want to learn. Probably more than you. That's why I read the entire bible, before I was 10 years old. I was raised in a Christian community, and educated in Christian schools, and I was indoctrinated like you.

Re: Let's talk about God
Great thread OP. I laughed a lot actually. What a funny conversation to have with a bunch of people with differing viewpoints. Great entertainment. Lighten up people. God's watching you, after all. Don't be mean to other parts of God else be smited by your own blade of ignorance.

To echo what has already been said by some:

People obsess with God saving man, but few focus on how we might help ourselves. How about self-responsibility over ongoing victim hood and obsession with the savior complex?

Regarding the raping/torturing/trafficking/murdering of children: JUSTICE PREVAILS. TRUTH PREVAILS. LOVE PREVAILS.

Ideally we would sufficiently numbers wise take a stand against this shit and bury it today. It is 100% unacceptable that these atrocities go on.

Secondarily it will return to balance eventually. Justice doesn't miss a beat. Those engaged in ongoing harm against others WILL PAY THE PRICE.

That's my perspective anyway.

The living God is opposed to magick and witchcraft. But you already know that, since you have read the entire Bible, right?

Why was David called a 'man after God's own heart' and the 'apple of God's eye'?

Where is it written that God asked if ANYTHING isl too hard for Him?

Where is it written that God sung?

How is it that God can turn a heart of stone into a heart of flesh? And what does it mean?

Where is God when we sing praises to Him?

Who brings Light to darkness, and what does it mean?

Who flees when we submit ourselves to God?

Is it written that when we "fear" God, that we fear nothing and no one else? Is this why a young shepherd boy named David did not fear that big ol' bully Goliath even as the king and his entire army hid and cowered and shook in their boots as Goliath mocked them?

Does God grant courage and a fearlessness to those who fear Him and believe Him?

What does it mean to have child-like faith in God?

What, in Isaiah, might offer comfort and solace to someone devastatingly crushed and wounded almost beyond repair?

And why he doesn't seem to ever help people in need, especially children. Assuming God is real, how can he let people suffer so much? No loving God would do that. All the wars, murders, rapes and diseases and God never lifts a finger to help anyone.

Religions always blame Satan for all the bad stuff but is God so weak that Satan seems to be winning? And don't come back with 'free will' because it's nowhere in the bible.
 Quoting: NDFarm

If the world is anything like Israel...

Isaiah 5:1-6
5 Let me sing for my well beloved a song of my beloved about his vineyard.
My beloved had a vineyard on a very fruitful hill.
2 He dug it up,
gathered out its stones,
planted it with the choicest vine,
built a tower in the middle of it,
and also cut out a wine press in it.
He looked for it to yield grapes,
but it yielded wild grapes.
3 “Now, inhabitants of Jerusalem and men of Judah,
please judge between me and my vineyard.
4 What could have been done more to my vineyard, that I have not done in it?
Why, when I looked for it to yield grapes, did it yield wild grapes?
5 Now I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard.
I will take away its hedge, and it will be eaten up.
I will break down its wall, and it will be trampled down.
6 I will lay it a wasteland.
It won’t be pruned or hoed,
but it will grow briers and thorns.
I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain on it.”

And Jesus said,

John 16:33

"These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."

God PROMISED tough times on Earth. This is not Heaven, there should be no doubt!

Our sin separated us from God. God cannot look at sin! This all started in the Garden of Eden. Open your Bible, it is plainly written what God's stance is on the people he created.

Jesus died on the cross FOR OUR SIN, as He was sinless himself. By believing he did this for us, we can be saved from the 2nd death. EVERYONE must go through the first death. God does not stop death as it must occur.

They say God does not change. John 14 describes the meaning of love.

Deuteronomy 7:9-11
Know therefore that Yahweh your God himself is God, the faithful God, who keeps covenant and loving kindness to a thousand generations with those who love him and keep his commandments, and repays those who hate him to their face, to destroy them. He will not be slack to him who hates him. He will repay him to his face. You shall therefore keep the commandments, the statutes, and the ordinances which I command you today, to do them.

That would be me, I've had some miracles happen in my life after I cried out to Yahusha a few years back and I've never been the same. I know it's all true.

Snakes and all that is symbolism, you learn about all that when you study the fulfilled prophecies and they match what happened in real life history.

The destruction of Tyre prophecy was mind blowing, it was filled with symbolism....but real life revealed what that symbolism meant.

It’s a test.

Basically God LETS it look like evil/Satan is winning to see which people retain their values and remain on the ‘good side’, and which people sell out to evil(and thus would betray God if given the chance) for some worldly gain. It’s all an illusion.

God was betrayed once, so now He needs to test us to determine conclusively which people He can trust for eternity, and which He can’t. Earth is that test.

If you wake up in Heaven some day, and God says you get to spend eternity there, are you gonna complain about a few decades of suffering? Lol

Same here....i've had miracles as well. It is a miracle that i even BELIEVE in God. i believe i was born into a family entrenched in generational curses. i should've died many times. Isaiah 54 was an anchor and a light for me in a swirling sea of darkness. it was as if God showed me WHO He is through those words. He taught me to trust Him, against all odds (and that might be one of the most profound miracles of all). i didn't trust Him or anyone else at the time. Why should i? i understand what the OP is saying and why. My father was a raging psychotic drunk. He lined all of us kids against the wall in the basement once and was gonna shoot us. i don't remember what happened...i must've been like 2.

i didn't want ANY "father", including a "heavenly Father"..why would i want one of them???!!! Ugh!

i didn't trust ANYBODY. And i didn't NEED anybody.

it wasn't until much later that God reached my heart.

"Love makes your soul crawl out from its hiding place." -Zora Neale Hurston

i was like a spooked horse. He was the only One Who knew what was in my locked-away heart, and why i was that way. He knew WHY i struck out at Him, and told Him to go away. He also knew that amongst those i hated, i hated and loathed myself infinitely more.

His patience and His grace towards me was un-ending and inexplicable.

He shone what it says in the book of Jeremiah, 33rd chapter, 3rd verse says, when i was a crumpled up soul on the floor of a very dark place.

He was the Lifter of my crestfallen, dragging head.

NO ONE had EVER done that for me. i was like those "invisible" people out there that might as well blend into the background, as throngs of people pass them by.

He was sooooo patient with me....that's why i love Gideon so much. God NEVER lost patience with him.

What was another miracle, is that i was able to forgive my mother before she died. i wrote a small piece on it. i might share it here.

THAT is when i "grew up", so to speak.

The miracle about that is that i had NO intention of forgiving my mother or anyone else.

God knew that i NEEDED to.

THAT is what breaks and demolishes those chains and snares of generational curses.

God knew that, but i didn't, at the time.

Yes, I've read the entire bible. According to the myth of Genesis, death entered the world because a man made of dirt ate a magic apple, after a woman made from a rib was tricked by a talking snake.

If this was in any other book, you'd say it's obviously a fairy tale.

Does God grant courage and a fearlessness to those who fear Him and believe Him?

What does it mean to have child-like faith in God?

What, in Isaiah, might offer comfort and solace to someone devastatingly crushed and wounded almost beyond repair?

The Bible tells us to kill witches, which has caused many people to burn each other at the stake for no reason.

You expect me to answer all those questions? No thanks. I don't have to prove anything to you.

What are the 4 nucleic bases that make DNA?

That's a question that actually matters, unlike all the imaginary bull crap you're talking about.

Who created DNA in the first place?

No one has a gun to yer head to answer ANYTHING.

You are the one who said that you read the entire Bible, is that correct?

From what is written in those pages, why do we die?

No one created the DNA that exists in my body. It came from my parents via meiosis, replication and mutation. Do you have evidence that someone created DNA?

Yes, I've read the entire bible. According to the myth of Genesis, death entered the world because a man made of dirt ate a magic apple, after a woman made from a rib was tricked by a talking snake.

If this was in any other book, you'd say it's obviously a fairy tale.
 Quoting: Spur-Man

That's not what the Bible, God's Word, says.

What triggered you? God's adversary? Satan? (formerly known as Lucifer?)

When did you sell your soul?

Is it worth it?

You've been snared by the father of lies, and the very one that committed high treason against the one true and living God, eh?

Howz that workin' out for ya'? Can ANY of what you spouted off in here SAVE you?

i wrote a short poem about hell (regardless of whether you claim it's real or not and attempt to cushion yourself with denial, it's very real, and irreversible, and inexplicably and profoundly tragic, in particular, because God did as it is written in John, 3rd chapter, 16th verse, to rescue ALL of us from that place of anti-grace and full-on cursings.)

Would you like me to post that poem?

In spite of everything, God LOVES you and me. Hs loved me as He taught me and made it possible in my heart, to love and forgive myself, and thus to love and forgive others. He loved me ALL through this, even as i snarled and cursed at Him and told Him to get the h*** away from me and told Him to go to h***. He NEVER EVER got angry with me. He KNEW how utterly damaged and wounded i was and even if i didn't care if i lived or died, He did.

i don't know what happened in your early life that hurt or disappointed you, and that skewed anything at all about this God Who LOVES you, and i am truly sorry for whatever happened.

Find the song called My Deliverer sung by Rich Mullins (it can be found on Youtube) and give it a listen. It's just a suggestion.

My suggestion for you is to read something OTHER than the Bible. Did you know that Yahweh used to have a wife?

Why? What would you suggest i read, and what would be the purpose of it? Please elaborate. Thank you.

By the way, the living God, El Elyon, God Most High, never had a wife.

Are you referring to what the Gnostics believe and their god?

What would be the purpose of reading something other than the bible? What a sad question. The universe is unimaginably vast, and you're obsessed with one book of bronze Age, middle eastern myths written by men that thought the earth was flat.

I'm not talking about gnostics. I'm talking about the pre Christian history of Yahweh. When he was part of the Cainanite pantheon, he had a wife named asherah.

Here's some biblical questions for you: in what book does Yahweh condone genocide, and taking virgin girls as sex slaves?
