What? Grow up. That is what happens in Genesis and you know it.
 Quoting: Spur-Man

In spite of everything, God LOVES you and me. Hs loved me as He taught me and made it possible in my heart, to love and forgive myself, and thus to love and forgive others. He loved me ALL through this, even as i snarled and cursed at Him and told Him to get the h*** away from me and told Him to go to h***. He NEVER EVER got angry with me. He KNEW how utterly damaged and wounded i was and even if i didn't care if i lived or died, He did.

i don't know what happened in your early life that hurt or disappointed you, and that skewed anything at all about this God Who LOVES you, and i am truly sorry for whatever happened.

Find the song called My Deliverer sung by Rich Mullins (it can be found on Youtube) and give it a listen. It's just a suggestion.

My suggestion for you is to read something OTHER than the Bible. Did you know that Yahweh used to have a wife?
 Quoting: Spur-Man

Why? What would you suggest i read, and what would be the purpose of it? Please elaborate. Thank you.

By the way, the living God, El Elyon, God Most High, never had a wife.

Are you referring to what the Gnostics believe and their god?
 Quoting: canyouhearmenow?

What would be the purpose of reading something other than the bible? What a sad question. The universe is unimaginably vast, and you're obsessed with one book of bronze Age, middle eastern myths written by men that thought the earth was flat.

I'm not talking about gnostics. I'm talking about the pre Christian history of Yahweh. When he was part of the Cainanite pantheon, he had a wife named asherah.

Here's some biblical questions for you: in what book does Yahweh condone genocide, and taking virgin girls as sex slaves?
 Quoting: Spur-Man

What have YOU been reading? Can it SAVE you?

What is SAD, is that you have NO Hope for the future, do you? Your future is that from dust thou wast taken and to dust thou shalt return. Is that not true?

What do you want written on your tombstone?

That which is self-created is itself it's own creation.

Thus because God is all that is, all of our collective might, collective presence, and collective knowledge, are present within God and is why God is called Almighty, omnipresent, and omniscient.

Sin. Evil. An abhorrence/hatred of the living God, Followers of the very "origin" of the hatred of God, Satan himself, who is/was the father of lies and a murderer from the beginning.

We are fallen creatures, with evil inclinations, and we prefer the darkness rather than the light. We have an aversion to the living God. This is why we all need a Savior, and why it is written that the living God sent His only begotten Son to us, for only HE is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

Sin IS ooooogly and evil, and it is the very antithesis to the living God. Sin and evil merely highlights WHY we need God.

i know I did/do.

i'd be a monster without God changing my heart of stone to a heart of flesh.

It is written that those thoughts we have, which is right there in our hearts, when they are evil, have, as it were, already been committed by us.

THIS is why we repent. We can be evil with a big ol' smile on our face. God looks on our hearts. He sees the evil that lurks in there, and THAT is what He intends to root out as we recognize it, and repent of it.

Just because I don't follow your religion doesn't mean I don't believe in an afterlife. But to be honest, I don't know what happens when we die, and I don't think you know either. My hope for the future is based here in this reality, not in some afterlife that may never happen.

You raise a good point. Sin and evil is insidious. On that note, God HATES sin, in particular the shedding of innocent blood, as it is written in His Word, in the book of Proverbs, 6th chapter. Speaking of the shedding of innocent blood, the most helpless and vulnerable comes to mind. Do you know what i am referring to?

Who/what is at the root of this evil? Where did it come from?

You raise a good point. Sin and evil is insidious. On that note, God HATES sin, in particular the shedding of innocent blood, as it is written in His Word, in the book of Proverbs, 6th chapter. Speaking of the shedding of innocent blood, the most helpless and vulnerable comes to mind. Do you know what i am referring to?

What also comes to mind is baby and child sex trafficking. Is this what you were referring to?
 Quoting: canyouhearmenow?

Isaiah 45:7I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.

God killed every human on earth during the flood, including the children. He commanded the israelites to kill all the male Midianite children, but to take the female children as sex slaves.
 Quoting: Spur-Man

Is God evil?

(i'll come back to the rest of your post.)
 Quoting: canyouhearmenow?

According to the Bible, he created evil. The god of the old testament does things that seem evil to me.
 Quoting: Spur-Man

Fair enough. Yes, it might appear that way at first sight. He IS Creator, and yes, He even created Lucifer, who was without sin. Lucifer, however, didn't remain that way. He is a created being. He DID however choose to undermine and attempt to overthrow Him. HE wanted that throne, and he wanted God ousted from it. HE wanted to be the Most High God.

This is sin and darkness and evil. Lucifer had NO "tempt-er". God created this being that embodied the epitome of darkness and evil and destruction, who was re-named Satan, God's adversary, and ours.

Of course the world is full of corruption and evil and greed. More reason for God to step up to the plate and help people in need, especially children. God does nothing.

That shows Christians never want to look at the dark side of the Bible. They just ignore it and pretend it's not in their holy book.
 Quoting: NDFarm

I look square at the darkness and what hides in that darkness that skitters and scatters when light is shown right smack into the middle of that darkness. I am not naive regarding spiritual warfare, and the fact that it is raging as we speak. i am a shiner of light into the darkest of places.

Darkness and evil originated with the creature Lucifer, who committed high treason against El Elyon, God Most High.

We who believe in and love God through His only begotten Son are not naive. We trust in the One Who empowers us to see with clarity the wiles of the devil, and his demons and minions, and agents.

Only through the living God can we stand against those wiles and tear down strongholds and all that rises up against the living God.

This is why we are admonished to put on the full armor of God. It's because spiritual warfare is raging as we speak. And there is the devil going about roaring as a lion, seeking whom he may devour, and lying and deceiving along the way.

The bottom line is, is God evil?

The Old Testament god El/Yahweh was one of the Canaanite war gods and is not the One True God. That’s obvious by his words and actions.
Most of his orders and commandments are made illegal by our current laws.

Our current laws?

Are they just, righteous, and wise?

Haven't "laws" changed with the wind throughout history?

It’s good that most countries today are not ruled by the laws found in religious holy books.

Reading it made me reject religion and become an atheist for almost 10 years. Since then, however, I am able to ‘handle it’ by knowing that most of it is not in any way a portrayal of the One True God. It’s easier to read knowing that, ‘God didn’t really say that, God didn’t really do that,
that was just another personation of Baal, calling himself Yahweh’.

No, I do believe in the Creator.
After 10 years of being an atheist I suddenly got turned back to believing in spiritual things by reading many other books and eventually realizing the True God is over and above all religions.
