Quoting: Debug The stupid burns sometimes. My motivation comes from the realization that: 1) GLP people have above-average intelligence and intuition as well as a great inquisitive spirit. 2) We need all of these traits in addition to the raw/boring ability to code... Additionally many of the developers and interview candidates I come across are totally faking it in hopes of landing a visa of some sort. I think GLP people can do better. Seriously? Do you guys support H1B visa? |

I've been developing for over 30 years. I know at least a dozen different languages but my current job has me in Perl, C, java, and JavaScript most of the time. Would not want to work for someone as dumb as this. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 70443625 It's called innovation friend. It's what we do as software engineers. You are NOT an engineer. Why not? Not arguing just would like to know what your logic is when making that assertion. |

I know at least a dozen different languages but my current job has me in Perl, C, java, and JavaScript most of the time. Anything is possible. The deciding factor would be your familiarity with Linux systems... Have you worked with the kernel, service configurations, firewalls, VM's, images, bootloaders, partitions. Do you enjoy that kind of thing? |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 79235101 United States 01/25/2021 07:04 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | How do you even go about this without putting your contact information in GLP? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79407989 I like my current job, but double 99k? Sounds good to me. Don’t know leetcode though. Sorry. By "leetcode", he probably just means that in the interview they'll ask you questions on obscure data structures until they find one that stumps you, and then ask you to write a checkers program in 30 minutes. The checkers program in 30 minutes part would normally be easy, so what the interviewers will do is have you implement it in parts that could probably be skipped, making it so you have to read their instructions and do each part exactly as requested... thus making it difficult to finish in the time limit. Stuff like that. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 79962910 Austria 01/25/2021 07:08 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | OK please stop calling programmers engineers because they are not - thanks! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79348925 some of us are, in fact my degree was computer engineering specialty of EE A degree doesn’t make anyone an engineer. You are an engineer when you build stuff. Complex software required engineering skills just like building a House, a Skyscraper or a car. |

User ID: 77079815 United States 01/25/2021 07:13 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Not going to put the details here, but if you know Linux and python and have some experience let me know. My company is hiring. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79387251 You can work remotely (big plus!) The interview will not be easy... Hope you can leetcode... Salary will be more than you're getting paid right now, perhaps double. It is a contract job. If you're interested in a full time job, that's a possibility too but not remotely for now. OP, if you're serious, you don't want to hire anyone who would self dox on a conspiracy forum after we've just been labeled domestic terrorists. I'd hire you now for that response. Whatever you're making now, double it, cut it in half, then subtract half. That's my final offer. Freelance Superhero with only a minor personality disorder.
