It's called innovation friend. It's what we do as software engineers.

Like seriously! Who the fuck tries to recruit devs on GLP?

The stupid burns sometimes.
 Quoting: Debug

My motivation comes from the realization that:

1) GLP people have above-average intelligence and intuition as well as a great inquisitive spirit.
2) We need all of these traits in addition to the raw/boring ability to code...

Additionally many of the developers and interview candidates I come across are totally faking it in hopes of landing a visa of some sort. I think GLP people can do better.

Seriously? Do you guys support H1B visa?

Hundreds... probably thousands. We need talent however we can get it, yes even from GLP.

Lol. I thought you were serious, but then you said python.

Any other languages? I've been developing for over 30 years. I know at least a dozen different languages but my current job has me in Perl, C, java, and JavaScript most of the time.

How do you even go about this without putting your contact information in GLP?

I like my current job, but double 99k? Sounds good to me.

Don’t know leetcode though. Sorry.

Anything is possible. The deciding factor would be your familiarity with Linux systems... Have you worked with the kernel, service configurations, firewalls, VM's, images, bootloaders, partitions. Do you enjoy that kind of thing?

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79407989

By "leetcode", he probably just means that in the interview they'll ask you questions on obscure data structures until they find one that stumps you, and then ask you to write a checkers program in 30 minutes. The checkers program in 30 minutes part would normally be easy, so what the interviewers will do is have you implement it in parts that could probably be skipped, making it so you have to read their instructions and do each part exactly as requested... thus making it difficult to finish in the time limit. Stuff like that.

I have been in those interviews, but no we don't play games like that. If you can think of a solution to a problem and write that solution in code, you should be alright.

A degree doesn’t make anyone an engineer. You are an engineer when you build stuff. Complex software required engineering skills just like building a House, a Skyscraper or a car.

I know Linux and Python, but I'm more of an embedded engineer specializing in robotics. I don't know the deep details of an OS, no experience with kernals, but I'm sure I could pick it up quickly if I put in the effort.

Re: Software Engineers Looking for a Job
Not going to put the details here, but if you know Linux and python and have some experience let me know. My company is hiring.

You can work remotely (big plus!)

The interview will not be easy... Hope you can leetcode...

Salary will be more than you're getting paid right now, perhaps double.

It is a contract job. If you're interested in a full time job, that's a possibility too but not remotely for now.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79387251

OP, if you're serious, you don't want to hire anyone who would self dox on a conspiracy forum after we've just been labeled domestic terrorists.
 Quoting: Depluribus Unum

win
I'd hire you now for that response.
Whatever you're making now, double it, cut it in half, then subtract half.
That's my final offer.

Love it! I'm very familiar with most modern Linux/Unix variants and even some aged ones. In addition to applications, I've been automating, administrating, and monitoring Unix environments since 97. Currently I have 103 centos servers under my care ( 24x7 support ).

I can interview someone and within 10 minutes know if they are any good or not.

I don't need you to write a single line of code. I just need to know how you think. The rest can be taught.
