I posted last week that all signs pointed to another surge, but no action being taken by the USA. Michigan is in bad shape, but they aren't closing down. Do we think this is going to be the protocol going forward? Will it get bad enough for them to shutdown again? I can't wrap my head around the logic/agenda anymore. It's baffling. I'm curious why suddenly this vaccine will create some crazy deadly version and we don't see Super Rabies, or Super Mumps. I'm curious why this is suddenly a worry. Quoting: NawtyBits It's been a worry ever since the vaccine trials showed the vaccine doesn't have a high effectiveness in preventing infection when exposed to the virus. That's why the AC brought up the example of a non-sterilizing vaccine. The vaccines for covid are non-sterilizing which means they help to prevent symptoms from an acute infection but aren't good at stopping the infection itself. This is a worry because so long as the virus has a chance to infect, it will have a chance to mutate... and when it mutates the evidence we have is it can mutate into something more aggressive, pathogenic and has a better chance at immune evasion also. It's not straightforward to make similarities between this virus others like those you mentioned because this is a coronavirus and the others are a different type of virus. One big difference is the vaccines that they use for those viruses very likely give people the sterilizing immunity which means people won't be getting infected after vaccination. Those viruses might also be naturally much slower to mutate, or mutations have a harder time surviving/being successful. SarsCov2 is not that kind of virus though, it is mutating quicker and the mutations are successful. The other thing is the viruses you mentioned have been around for a couple thousand years. When a virus has been in a human population for that long there is not as much room available for the virus to evolve compared to the time when it first emerged. He had feared it as he saw the reckless crush of hundreds of people taking part in large wedding parties over the past months, feared it as he saw the maskless faces of shoppers at the market, feared it as he witnessed thousands come together for political rallies in the ongoing elections in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, where he is the president of the state medical council. But despite his growing sense of foreboding, the second wave of coronavirus that began to engulf India last month has confounded even Senthil’s worst expectations. “People became so complacent, acting as if the virus had vanished which was absurd,” said Senthil, who is a urologist in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. “Now we are experiencing a wave of coronavirus infections that is far worse than the first and the magnitude of the spread is getting worse and worse. In Tamil Nadu it has taken just 15 days to reach the same level of cases in hospitals which was the peak last time. In the big cities in the state, the hospitals are already almost full.” Over the weekend bodies piled up outside the government hospital in Raipur, in the state of Chhattisgarh, because the hospital had “not expected so many people to die at once” from coronavirus and could not cremate them fast enough. In Surat, in the state of Gujarat, crematoriums became so overwhelmed with coronavirus victims that families began burning their dead on open ground. “This sheer tsunami of cases has already overwhelmed the healthcare infrastructure in the state,” said Dr Shashank Joshi, a member of the Mumbai Covid taskforce. “This time we are seeing younger people between 20 and 40 getting seriously affected and even children are now being hospitalised with severe symptoms. The capacity for the healthcare system to hold on is fast dwindling.” Kshitij Thakur, a local politician in the Vasai-Virar municipality of Maharashtra, made a desperate public plea for help with an “acute” shortage of oxygen in the local government hospital, which had already led to the loss of three lives. The next wave already started, cases going up in most states, while many states are still waiting for their 'boom' moment. Michigan has had it, Minnesota is still in the process. I don't think the current wave is going to be as strong as the winter one, but the asymptomatic infections could be larger due to the summer months, more people spending more time outside meaning the dose of infection you get is lower compared to inside. But if the fucky P1 variant gains a real foothoold then all bets are off... Even if there is a terrible wave in the U.S. to the point where there SHOULD be lockdowns, I don't think there will be lockdowns again... because that would shatter the illusion that people are holding dear that the pandemic is nearly over. Thats interesting, I have not heard that one before. Would you care to elaborate? Sure. About a year ago, give or take, it was reported that one of the things that the Wuhan lab was working on was a vax for HIV. They were using CoV as the building block for this HIV vax. This would explain why there were portions of the genetic sequence that may resemble HIV genetics. And would explain why SARS2 can cloak itself from T-cells, like HIV. This research was partially funded by several 1st World Countries, including the US. Which is normal. The US funds and collaborates with labs all over the world. This, too is normal. There is no big conspiracy here. It just looks to me like an accidental lab release. Occam's Razor. (As an aside, viruses make VERY BAD bioweapons. Even if you have a vax, once you release it in to the wild, it will mutate. Possibly around your vax. No major world power would use a virus as a first strike weapon. There are too many unknowns, and you could kill all your own troops in the process.) WWJBD-What Would Jimmy Buffett Do "If it's wet and not yours, don't touch it." Oregon H1N1 Summit speaker |

Tetanus vax. 2 examples. Both require boosters. Both have been around a long time. Influenza, even though vaxxed for, causes the majority of pandemics. New strains appear, not because of previous vaccinations, but because of natural selection. Personally, I think the vax for COVID will do more harm from a psychological point of view, giving people a false sense of security.
