My Dog Passed Away Today | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 74226725 United States 09/03/2018 10:59 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Been there--I had a 120 pound buddy for 13 years and a few months. I know it hurts. You are lucky to have had such a dog. In years to come you will remember him--and smile. I have hope that dogs have an afterlife and are waiting for their masters on the other side. BTW, although no good dog is replaceable completely. However, I have another very good dog again--consider it in time. |

I was 11 or 12 years old and he was with me til I was 25. I've never known a loss like it. I stayed off work for three days drinking gin. When I went back to work songs would come on the radio and make me think of that dog. My best friend throughout my teenage years and my first years into adulthood. Its tough but you'll be okay. User ID: 76756058 United States 09/03/2018 11:22 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | He was given a medication that caused side effects. here he started having complications with coordination, and mobility. To the point that he was not able to walk. I took him to the vet they did a flush to cleanse the toxins from his system. It did not work. The symptoms remained. So we decided to do charcoal to detoxify his body and it backfired. Somehow when he swallowed the pill it caused some sort of breathing problem and he had the breathing problem for about two three hours then he just gave his last breath today. I tried to fit it in but it's been a week of fighting for him to recover till today when he gave his last breath. If you have a dog never allow your dog to take Cisapride as a medication they never warned me of the side effects but if you read the toxicology report regarding that medication each side effect my dog went through. I did everything to fight for his life because he did not deserve to go out like that. I lost the fight. Quoting: Jarhead3024 Tears for you and your dog. So very sorry that he went this way. Prayers for comfort and reduction of the pain in your heart. |

User ID: 76423514 United States 09/03/2018 11:42 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm sorry for the loss of your best friend. If you study Genesis carefully, you will see that that Lord God created the four-footed furry beasts as companions for Adam before Eve was created. They have always been intended to be our close companions, and there is a reason we love our furry companions so much. I think you are right that those of us who have enjoyed a close relationship with a furry beast will indeed see them again. Here is a comforting video made by a minister and pet lover who makes a good Scriptural-based case that our loved pets do go to Heaven, and are waiting for us there: [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] |

Adorable looked like a smokey bear. This sucks. I love that little guy so much. The bond that we had was something that would seem unbelievable. And now he is no longer with me. He is my best friend my little brother since I have no siblings and my child since I have no children. This is gonna be difficult to get through without him. Quoting: Jarhead3024 13 years old is a long life for a German Shepherd. You must have taken excellent care of him. I'm assuming he started having GI issues, it happens with Shepherds and it's a common way for them to pass. Don't feel guilty or wonder if you shouldn't have given him the medication. It sounds like you tried your very best and there was nothing you could have done. He knew that you tried your best to save him. At some point, once the pain has passed, I hope your guy sends you a Shepherd in need. Sure it sounds corny, but after the loss of my GS at 14 years old, I eventually adopted a GS rescue. I can't imagine life without one next to me. Many people have experienced their pets visiting them after they pass. I'm hoping your guy finds a way to let you know he is okay now. Stay strong |

Know that the life and friendship and love that you provided him was better than he could've ever gotten from anyone else. He had the best life possible. Take comfort in that. It's tough right now, but as time goes on a bit, you might want to head down to the local pound and see if any of the dogs down there catch your eye or if any of them connect with you. Unless you have loved one of these creatures you can't understand what that closeness is. It is not as simple as a piece of paper. Where you throw it to the garbage and get another one. It is a bond a love that has no boundaries. It is a closeness and trust that is established though time. A trust and a protection that happens. It is not so simple as oh well this dog died I will just go to the store and get another. If you have a heart it does not work that way. When you love these creatures he/she becomes part of your family a loved one that can't be replaced. Unless you have loved one of these creatures you can't possibly understand. He is not some material to be replaced by another material. He was a soul that I Loved and will love till I die. Jarhead3024 |

User ID: 75988672 United States 09/04/2018 12:04 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Thank you for sharing about medication. Sounds like you were a great pet owner and sharing helps others. Medication can be very dangerous for pets and please research like you stated. I have adverse reactions to two different pet meds ( one was for bladder) when I researched I saw how bad they were and immediately stopped after one day. My dog is 16 1/2 next month and eats primarily people food ( Stella is the dog food as it has great product easy to bring she likes) Eating people food meats- vegetables if you can is really smart as long as you keep your pet in shape. Read the ingredients in pet food. The large bags also go bad quick if you have a small dog. I know there are always exceptions to medicines that work and we are thankful you shared with. Make sure to do your research and pets are important part of your family. Sending prayers at this time. |
