That's a tough thing to go through - especially when you've got such a stretch of memorable years that you've spent together.

I've been there, too, and I feel for you. I figure w/o a doubt that I'll be there again down the road.

It's the price we pay for such a loyal and pure friendship.

We lost ours a little over a year ago

A day doesn't go by that we don't miss her

A good dog is worth many people for companionship

Haven't gotten to getting a puppy yet - maybe next year

She can't be replaced so easily - will have to be a different color and totally different personality dog - which is certain

Mine died in my arms too

Sad but comforting for the pet to know he is loved

I lost my dog after our 14 years together. It’s horrible going through the pain of losing him. I started a journal and entered memories about him nearly everyday for awhile and that helped me a lot. I’m so sorry for your loss. Hugs to you.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your dog. The only thing that helps is time. I know it's so hard in the beginning but each day it gets a bit easier and in time you'll reach a place where the good memories will replace all of the pain that you are feeling today.

I lost my 12 year old cocker in December 2017 and my 15 year old spits in march. Loved them both dearly. Went and immediately got a puppy. They want it that way. Go get another one today.

I'm so sorry. I've been through it twice and will have again in the next 1-3 years probably. It is so very tough on the soul.

Take solace in knowing you provided them a loving and safe home all their life, that is a lot more than many receive.

He was given a medication that caused side effects. here he started having complications with coordination, and mobility. To the point that he was not able to walk. I took him to the vet they did a flush to cleanse the toxins from his system. It did not work. The symptoms remained. So we decided to do charcoal to detoxify his body and it backfired. Somehow when he swallowed the pill it caused some sort of breathing problem and he had the breathing problem for about two three hours then he just gave his last breath today. I tried to fit it in but it's been a week of fighting for him to recover till today when he gave his last breath. If you have a dog never allow your dog to take Cisapride as a medication they never warned me of the side effects but if you read the toxicology report regarding that medication each side effect my dog went through. I did everything to fight for his life because he did not deserve to go out like that. I lost the fight.

Our pups are like our family.
I lost my little Jack Russell, Lily in
2008...she was only 9. I'm still hurting.
She was like a soul-mate. No being understood
me like she did.
Try to think of the good times and just know that
you will be together again at some point.
I'm a firm believer that all our beloved pets will
be there to greet us in heaven one day.

Very sorry for you loss Devildog. Losing your dog is like losing a family member. I'll tell you what: I don't have a lot of time myself, (stage 4). I will reach out to your best friend once I'm on whatever plane of existence he's on, and let him know he's missed and loved. Maybe a toss the ball around too.

I'll do this for anyone, just ask.

I love animals . I had a cat my best friend for 13 years when He died I cried harder than losing my grandma . I cried for that too . I’m just saying the cat was amazing. Came to me when I called him woke me up in the morning for work he could sense when I was sad and would try to be funny . Amazing cat . I still pain to this day . Just know you are loved and God feels your pain . Also maybe get another pet in a few months not to replace but to grow with in another chapter of your life.

A prayer of comfort for you. So very sorry for your loss. Dogs and Cats are the best buddies (and family) any person can have.

When they die it sucks and breaks your heart.I lost 2 within 6 mons.I got another at a shelter and had to put him down a year later.The only thing that helps me is go to the shelter and save another one.Now I have a 6 yr old jack russel shelter dog.
