Anonymous Coward User ID: 76102966 United States 02/26/2018 10:56 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The U.S. Supreme Court declined Monday to hear the Trump administration's appeal of a federal judge's ruling that requires the government to keep the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program going. Quoting: TheWiz111 Under a lower court order that remains in effect, the Department of Homeland Security must continue to accept applications to renew DACA status from the roughly 700,000 young people, known as Dreamers, who are currently enrolled. The administration's deadline of March 5, when it intended to shut the program down, is now largely meaningless. [link to www.nbcnews.com (secure)] It's not a legal law. Trump can do away with it the same way it was created - with his pen. Illegals are law breakers. There is a law against that. |

Apparently they have convinced him that he doesn't have the power to end this on his own. Trump needs to ignore the lower court's ruling and have the dreamers removed after the deadline. He has the power to do it. |

The Supreme Court has made no ruling of any kind, all they have said is they are not going to entertain arguments at this time deferring to allowing (As the ALMOST ALWAYS DO) the Appeals process to take it's normal course.... again, this was totally expected... Quoting: MultiStrada SCOTUS isn't there to interpret executive orders. Make sense? DACA is not an executive order. DACA is a memo directing an executive agency to make a policy to not enforce the laws as passed by Congress. Trump could simply revoke the previous memo and end DACA. That is the proper method, but he instead went down this road of playing games and is allowing the precedent to stand that the courts have this much power. Which they don’t in actuality. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74033525 Exactly! He will use an EO - but only after he exhausts all other PROPER avenues. As POTUS - he has the SOLE right to determine immigrant policies. He can close the doors and not allow ANY in at all. It's also his right to remove unlawful non-citizen residents from within our borders. Congress can't stop him. SCOTUS can't stop him and the Justice Department can't stop him. Everything he is doing from DACA to Obamacare to Tax Reform - he is trying to do through the Legislative branch, because supposedly, Congress is the voice of the PEOPLE. But if Congress won't represent US, then the POTUS will - as a last resort. I love our POTUS!!!! God Bless President TRUMP! GOD BLESS AMERICA!! |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 75547016 United States 02/26/2018 11:41 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The SCOTUS has only taken a case that was still being litigated in a lower court, something like 10 times in the last 100 years. Once the lower makes a decision, then the SCOTUS will take the case. |

The Repubs can't be seen on the TV ripping families apart (at it will...you know it) and the Dems can't be seen as doing nothing. It is just one big game.
