My first thought was that someone named their router xfinitywifi.

Everyone should change their router names to something derogatory towards the service.

So is this just for people renting the Xfinity router? I'm assuming they can't do this on other brands of router.


However, I will piggyback others at will. cell phones towers will be obsolete in urban areas soon. just use an android or tablet and combine with skype, etc....

Every time I get pissed about my service with AT&T DSL, I think of the alternative with comcrap and suddenly AT&T isn't so bad anymore!!

no one can use your router without you knowing about it.
Comcast has great internet, I just got boosted to 57mps,
silly fast.
But seperate wifi broadcasters are transmitting the public signal.

Hell! I just noticed the same xfinity link the other day and I've got sbc global! I get a lot of stalled pages!

It doesn't have a lock on it (xfinity) but when I tried to log in with it, it didn't work.

As a former ATT DSL sub. I feel for you, if yours works fine for you, that's great, they literally forced me to get U-verse internet.

They are phasing out DSL in favor of U-verse, that's what i was told on the phone when signing up.

DSL service was horrible!
but now, with U-verse, everything is great, getting my advertized speeds and have no problems at all after 3 months.

Comcast has turned my router into one of those public hotspots. Fuck that. IT WILL SUCK your bandwidth if you get some asshole freeloader hogging your signal. Won't count against your usage, but will slow YOUR PAID service down. I found a phone number that went DIRECTLY to a U.S. based Comcast Tech service person. No hold, no wait. The call took 5 minutes, I simply said that I wanted to opt-out of the free wifi on my router. The number is 855-308-9452.

This is why you buy your own router. Dont use the wifi on the modem, disable it.

So let me get this straight. They are allowing THIER customers to log on to your routers wifi which is powered by and paid by your electric bills. Nice!! That almost sounds like theft of your electric service by Comcast.

You won't see or even notice any drag on your end.

Since it's only for comcast customers who have an account to log into internet there won't be any freeloaders.

Just for everyone's info I work for Comcast. There are 2 separate signals that come into you home with this new system. One is for your private network and the other is for the public network. they do not share bandwidth with each other. Just letting you know. At the same time however I would never use a public network myself for other reasons.

This shill is spreading bullshit information. That shit will slow your connection down for sure. You are responsible for any sick shit someone may download on your modem.

Also if someone downloads something on the xfinity wifi it does not show as you, they have to log in as them retard.

Now at the same time I do not use comcast because it's network as a whole is not as secure as other providers. On a cabled network you can read traffic from anyone on the same node as you.
