Seeing this makes me feel sick to my core but I have to acknowledge the cognitive dissonance because I eat meat. I have no idea what the cow's treatment is like before I get to eat the steak that came from it or the long list of other things factory farmed and killed for the convenience of having it packed and ready in my local supermarket. Still, those poor doggos.

Horror dog festival in China where thousands of dogs are killed and eaten

Thousands of dogs will be murdered and eaten over 10 days at the annual Yulin Dog Meat Festival in Guangxi. The festival goes on despite outcries from campaigners who say it is cruelty to animals and a public health risk. The Yulin festival first launched in 2010 where as many as 15,000 dogs were killed. Chinese and international pressure has seen this figure reduce to around 3,000 dogs. However, it is estimated that around 10 to 20 million dogs are slaughtered in China every year.

The Chinese tradition of eating dog meat dates back around 500 years and is believed to ward off the heat of the summer..

Last weekend, activists intercepted a dog truck packed with 68 dogs heading for Yulin’s slaughterhouses...

Many of the dogs were in poor physical health after travelling a long way with no food or water. They were crammed in so tightly that they were found panting and traumatised..

this response is pathetic. these devils torture the dogs before finally killing them. it makes the dog secrete hormones that these devils think give them power. in the past they skinned the dogs alive then boiled them while still alive.

the communist govt not only allows this practice but went after the activists trying to end this barbaric savagery. to compare this to an american slaughter house is absurd.

People in America have no clue how cruel the rest of the world is

the difference here is that cows, pigs, chickens,turkeys, fish have always been acceptable food sources since the beginning of time.....dogs have not been an acceptable source of food.

and these dogs are tortured on purpose because these subhuman scumbags think it makes the "meat" taste better.
