Quoting: dmefoc23 I’m willing to bet CTE (or the doctors refusal to diagnose CTE) is more responsible than skin color. I’ll cede that it’s not generally the case It's tough for me to believe they can't make the helmets concussion proof. They’ve actually made the situation WORSE with the helmet design changes. The illusion of protection given by them has altered the way players play the sport. Where there were once huge shoulder pads and weaker helmets, a player made every effort to duck their head out of the way. Now, it’s completely different. To further my point...I don’t think there is any such thing as ‘concussion proof.’ No matter what they do with the design to soften the blows to the head with padding and impact plates, you’re still always going to have a fragile organ (the brain) floating inside a hard shell (the skull.) Any violent and sudden stop of the head won’t stop the brain from continuing to travel...until it smacks against the skull. As I noted, they made the situation WORSE when they upgraded the helmets. I agree 100% |

I guess we will never know Quoting: Bloody Peasant! The first article I read and posted mentioned he had injuries including a concussion. That will be the excuse, and I refuse to accept that crap. His family and the media will blame it on his "health problems." My heart breaks for his family, but we will hear the same old same old. "He was a good boy" but had a head injury. My opinion? ..... he wasn't a good football player, went from team to team (I listed teams above), and was frustrated, so he took it out on the good doctor and his family. Can you imagine the parents of the 9 and 5 year old thinking they were having fun and were safe at grandma's and grandpa's house? Last Edited by nutmeg on 04/08/2021 10:53 AM |

(OP) User ID: 76388104 United States 04/08/2021 11:04 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The physician sounds awesome! He wrote a series of books, "Angels in the ER." Some reviews on Amazon: Editorial Reviews Review "We meet an amazing cast of characters who come through the doors of a South Carolina hospital emergency room. Professional wrestlers, distraught mothers, gunshot victims, travelers from off the interstate highway...just to name a few. But Robert Lesslie is also there, a faithful, empathetic physician with a heart for compassion and a keen eye for the presence of God in the midst of human need." Thomas G. Long, Bandy Professor of Preaching, Candler School of Theology, Emory University "Angels in the ER is hard to put down. You are right there with Dr. Lesslie in every circumstance, and each situation shows the spiritual dimension of life and death in a way most of us will never experience on our own. I can only compare the demand for moment-to-moment decision-making with my time on the basketball court. I enjoyed every story." Bobby Jones, co-founder 2XSALT, four-time NBA All-Star, and member of the 1983 World Champion Philadelphia 76ers "Intelligent, insightful, professional, honest, compassionate...personal stories that allow the reader to view the patient from the mind and heart of the physician... "In an age when patients are viewed as social security numbers, Dr. Lesslie recovers the fading image of a caring doctor for whom the patient is center stage. We are left with the impression that angels belong to our lives, both in and out of emergency rooms. That is a conviction worth holding, and this is a book worth reading and rereading...If I ever land in an emergency room, I hope Dr. Lesslie is there waiting for me."
