Quoting: dmefoc23 I’m willing to bet CTE (or the doctors refusal to diagnose CTE) is more responsible than skin color. I’ll cede that it’s not generally the case It's tough for me to believe they can't make the helmets concussion proof. They’ve actually made the situation WORSE with the helmet design changes. The illusion of protection given by them has altered the way players play the sport. Where there were once huge shoulder pads and weaker helmets, a player made every effort to duck their head out of the way. Now, it’s completely different. To further my point...I don’t think there is any such thing as ‘concussion proof.’ No matter what they do with the design to soften the blows to the head with padding and impact plates, you’re still always going to have a fragile organ (the brain) floating inside a hard shell (the skull.) Any violent and sudden stop of the head won’t stop the brain from continuing to travel...until it smacks against the skull. As I noted, they made the situation WORSE when they upgraded the helmets. Agree, and I've noticed the same trend in hockey. Guys don't learn to protect their own head from a young age. The speed and strength of the athletes has increased dramatically over the past 3 decades, which also contributes to the problem. The equipment makes them feel invulnerable, so they are less likely to protect themselves. Football also has a huge problem that tackling fundamentals are mostly gone. Defenders fly head first into a tackle going for a knockout blow so they can get on sports center highlights instead of breaking down and wrapping up. RB's in particular put their head down to "truck" a defender. Even when successful, each collision adds on top of one another, which is why RB's have such short careers. |

I would think the majority of inmates are black, as are the majority of guards. He might have been treated as a celebrity since he played for the NFL. I'm sure OJ was treated well. He felt he could never do wrong. My theory has always been that these athletes are heroes in grade school, high school, and heroes in college because of their athletic ability. Some aren't accustomed to having difficulties in life. When they do, they lose it and consider themselves "victims"....the poor me attitude. And Democrats enforce the "they are victims" attitude.
