Once they lose their trail they stop coming. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14408911 You don't live in the south..or in the country do you? We have fire ant beds about every five feet down here. They love flower beds also. Having them in the house isn't so much the problem...but not being able to walk across your yard is. Note: To stop them from coming in, put a little line of baby powder across the bottom of your doors. If they do get in, a little baby powder spread on their line will kill the ones you see, and stop new ones from getting in. Of course, baby powder is safe for pets...at least I think it is. Someone here will probably tell me how baby powder causes birth defects or somethong though.... saltyone USMC 0341/0331 |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1281779 United States 04/26/2013 10:31 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | "Aspartame Aspartame, distributed under several trade names (e.g., NutraSweet® and Equal®), was approved in 1981 by the FDA after numerous tests showed that it did not cause cancer or other adverse effects in laboratory animals. Questions regarding the safety of aspartame were renewed by a 1996 report suggesting that an increase in the number of people with brain tumors between 1975 and 1992 might be associated with the introduction and use of this sweetener in the United States. However, an analysis of then-current NCI statistics showed that the overall incidence of brain and central nervous system cancers began to rise in 1973, 8 years prior to the approval of aspartame, and continued to rise until 1985. Moreover, increases in overall brain cancer incidence occurred primarily in people age 70 and older, a group that was not exposed to the highest doses of aspartame since its introduction. These data do not establish a clear link between the consumption of aspartame and the development of brain tumors. In 2005, a laboratory study found more lymphomas and leukemias in rats fed very high doses of aspartame (equivalent to drinking 8 to 2,083 cans of diet soda daily) (1). However, there were some inconsistencies in the findings. For example, the number of cancer cases did not rise with increasing amounts of aspartame as would be expected. An FDA statement on this study can be found at [link to www.fda.gov] on the Internet. Subsequently, NCI examined human data from the NIH-AARP Diet and Health Study of over half a million retirees. Increasing consumption of aspartame-containing beverages was not associated with the development of lymphoma, leukemia, or brain cancer." I'm just stating the results are inconclusive. For every study that says it causes cancer there's one that says it doesn't. Personally I have never known anyone to get cancer from artificial sweeteners of any kind. I have known 4 people that died of cancer a varied ages and nether of them used diet products. as for me...I've been drinking diet coke since 1992 and have had no problems ever. |

Stirred the ant beds up, then sprinkled with 8 - 10 packets of sweet n low. This morning they are gone. Will let you know if moved. Last year, I killed a mouse with a little dish of aspartame. is this a thread about the hazards of aspartame or getting rid of ants...if it is about getting rid of ants, try the instant grit packets, sprinkle a little around the ant hill, DO NOT DISTURB OR DESTROY the hill, the ants eat it, it gets in the gut and expands and kills. if it rains w/i a few hours/day, you have to spread around the hill again |

Started to research and found out about aspartame, stopped chewing gum and felt better in a week or so. Stuff is shit, wrigleys even add it to their regular gum, so you have a gum that contains sugar & asparteme, question is why? Because aspartame is delivered into the body through the gums in a higher concentrated form. Reason is to make people ill, simple as that. Keep the masses in a state of reliance on doctors and pharma medicine. |
