(OP) User ID: 24517903 United States 11/03/2012 08:41 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I truly feel your pain... Quoting: Simple_Man about 8 months ago my black baby ...smitty bittys .....slipped out the door unnoticed ....she was an indoor cat and she was my buddy =) I would drive thru the neighborhood everyday for weeks looking for her .... Praying while I was driving with tears streaming down my cheeks I would ride up to the humane society every 3 days and see if she was up there .... at first I was angry with God for allowing this to happen but eventually I prayed and I told him that I knew that he allowed it to happen for a reason that was beyond my comprehension I started to get a tiny bit of peace about it after 2 months and I decided to an adopt a kitten from the humane society because my other cat " honey bunnies" was acting lathargic and depressed since her playmate was gone I went an adopted a 6 week year old kitten ...I named her " baby girl" and soon I realize how much of a blessing God had turned my grief into I know some people will make fun of me and call me gross but I am a animal lover.....his kitten would come and lay with me and give me kisses ...and when I say kisses ...I mean French kisses ..like a pet dog would do...I had never seen this or even heard of a cat doing something like this....only dogs she is the sweetest cat ever and even now she still comes up to me a purrs ....lays down on my chest and gives me affectionate kisses As much as it hurt and sometimes it still hurts when I think about my smitty bittys being gone.....I never would of gotten a new kitten if she never ran away....and as much as I lived the previous cat....my new cat is way more affectionate and loving .... sometimes hope can spring out of the darkness mourning is a natural process ..... This is ok and normal ....infact there is something wrong if you don't ....just don't getstuck there here's aliitle word of advice too..... when I got my new kitten I immediately went to the pet store and bought two collars with pendants that were inscribed with their names ...and my phone number incase hey ever ran away .... at firstbtheybhated the collars but now they are fine with it .... my two cats are females and I like to honk that they enjoy wearing them because they thik they are accessories =) I will say a prayer for you I am on a cellphone and is hard for me to post right now but what you said was so true and I know we both have experienced the same thing. I am so sorry to hear about smitty bittys, and can relate to the crying while driving. i have cried more tears these past few days than i have in years. So glad your new kitty is bringing you so much happiness. xoxo Last Edited by oh_yikes on 11/03/2012 08:56 PM |

It will discourage staying out for long periods of time and looking for mates. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 4545733 Hoping your reunion is soon. Thank you for your kindwords. Yes,when I first took him to the vet to get his injuries fixed up i got him neutered and vaccinated at that time. He has never been a "tomcat" in terms of roaming or spraying. He just liked to wander our backyard (5 acres) usually within earshot of us. |

But I am heartbroken over this and was hoping that if anyone "saw" anything, maybe psychically or whatever, it would help me. Quoting: oh_yikes We rescued an adorable black and white tuxedo kitty last year, and he quickly became such a bright spot in our lives. He was so friendly and smart, and he came running when you called him. He would tug on my leg when he wanted a treat or to be let out...it was the sweetest thing. He was an outdoor cat, which we understood came with risks, but he was so unhappy when we kept him confined inside, so eventually we started letting him outside. For 7 months we had a routine of when he went out and then showed up at our door to be let back in. But on Thursday Nov. 1 he never showed up at the door, and I haven't seen him since. Calls to animal control, neighborhood flyers, postings on Craigslist, and hours of wandering the neighborhood have turned up nothing. I am having trouble eating or sleeping, and cannot seem to walk past his food dish or toys without feeling a wave of sadness pass over me. I don't know if he was attacked by a predator, or taken in by a neighbor. Not knowing if he is dead or alive is adding to the anguish. Is there anyone out there who can take a little break from the serious doom and say a little prayer for my kitty, Oliver? Or maybe if they are psychic and get any kind of impression, they can let me know? Thank you in advance. If you have a really good picture of Oliver, load it as a custom smilie and post it in this post....just posting a pic that "looks like Oliver" won't do it for most psychics. I've had cats for years and used to breed Maine Coons (beautiful cats). My big orange cat, "Jackson" came home yesterday--an indoor/outdoor kitty--with what I am terrified is anti-freeze poisoning. He is terribly sick. Will probably be taking him to the vet today. I would appreciate prayers for "Jackson" while you are sending up prayers for Oliver, maybe having both of our hearts breaking will get results. And don't let anyone tell you that cats are not worth your emotional investment. When you are invested in a little guy like you are, because you were involved in his rescue--you have a special bond. Do whatever your local Human Society instructs for locating you cat-- go out at dawn and dusk and call for him, put up fliers, physically walk the territory he would wonder and look for places where he might get stuck--I had one get in someone's car once and they went camping with my cat! (We found him later, though.) EXPECT that your cat will come back and visualize Oliver with a beautiful purple mist of protection around him. My heart goes out to you as we deal with our own crisis... I feel really sad just seeing his little furry mouse laying in the middle of the room...and he isn't there to play with it. I'm really with you on this. Please keep us informed. Can you give the area of the country where you live without giving your address? Was your area effected by Hurricane Sandy? Peace SK I am not premium, so I don't think I can do a custom smilie, but I will be sending healing thoughts for poor Jackson. If you can give him some boiled chicken breast and rice it might help, along with some water from a can of water packed tuna if he is not eating or drinking but needs liquids. I live far away from the ravages of Sandy, a blessing. I live in the Chicago suburbs. It is a weird coincidence, but Oliver got really sick a couple of weeks ago and spent 24 hours crouched in one spot under the kitchen table without moving. I thought I was going to lose him then, and in my desperation I imagined white healing energy traveling down into my body and through my hands. At the moment I imagined it entering his body, he let out a little squeak. The next morning, he woke up, got out from under the table and began looking for breakfast, none the worse for wear. My husband thought he had eaten something bad out there somewhere. For what it is worth, I will do a meditation and picture healing energy going into your dear Jackson. It can't hurt, right? Please keep me posted on how your dear kitty is. I completely share your anguish and worry. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 26931650 United States 11/03/2012 11:07 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | So sorry, OP. I know how attached we can get to them. A few years back I was standing outside with my dog and he took after a another dog who was chasing a deer across our property. Normally he would have been in house or in his fenced yard in back. I did all the things you mentioned: call shelter, lost classified ad, flyers, checking with neighbors but couldn't find him. So I took out a display ad with his picture (1/4 page ad) on the 3rd page of our local newspaper with reward. I started getting calls of sightings of him and finally found him after 3 weeks. I know it is expensive but it worked for me (the display ad). As far as reward the man who finally contained him until I could get there refused to take the reward. Also, I used to be an animal control officer. Don't just call shelter. Go down there and look for yourself. We had the dispatcher from hell in the office who also did all the paperwork so the descriptions of animals we had were way off. She'd put down "shepherd mix" for a lab mix, etc. I used to go through her list of animals that came in and would match it to the animal to correct list but didn't have time to do it everyday if I was out in field all day. If I was in between calls and in office and happened to answer the phone for some one looking for their animal I wouldn't rely on list. I went in the kennels & looked myself. But most won't do that and only went by a list. Go look yourself - even if it's for months. By law (in our state) we only kept strays for 72 hours and then our kennel worker put them down due to overcrowding. Sometimes in winter we were able to keep them a few days longer if room permitted. So go at least once every three days (or whatever the law states in your state for how long animal control has to keep it) for as long as you can. Also, outdoor cats are known to sometimes have more than on household in neighborhood feeding them. There's a possibility that someone within a half a mile of you has made him an indoor cat. Saw that happen more than once. I'm assuming you kept your cat indoors at night to sleep even though you let him out during day. Many reports of missing cats we had were owners that left them out at night. One more possibility is that he was hit by a car or otherwise injured and taken to a vet. It wouldn't hurt to call all the vets in your area. And also check with the animal save groups to see if they have him. A vet or some well-meaning neighbour who thought he was a stray may have given him to one of the non-profit animal groups. And don't tell them you lost a cat. Tell them you are looking for a b&w puss 'n boots and go look at what they have. Those groups have been known to not return pets because they figure if you lost it then you don't deserve to have it. Animal control often had to intervene to get a pet back from some of the more radical save groups by threatening them with theft charges. If you do get him back and for future reference only get the cat collars that have the elastic that will break if the collar gets hung up on something. Also, take the bell off. The bell alerts night predators of where cat is. Sorry I'm rambling here but wanted to put all possibilities out there hoping it might help. Anyway, good luck. |

I realize that is not as long as Oliver has been away but I understand your heartache. I couldn't sleep, eat...anything! I was walking the neighborhood at all hours of the night calling for him, I only wanted him home and safe. It was a terrible 10 hours!!! He may just be having a few days "out on the town" like my kitty Big Chief did :)! I will pray that he comes home to you OP! |

Death was - one big smell. I remember the sky and as Ancient Cat diverse Dusted himself off, and went as the map. Not as earnest as I - Wild To see that there is On the pavement. And then the smell of honey and mint I flew into the grass on the ears And decided that in the new life (ninth) I will be the same that in past only better. I was kitten not beleiving in the tales And then forgotten - like we all forget. There is always wide open door This place is called Paradise. Cat paradise - until the last outskirts - Grace to those who settled here. But too grieved for me my master - I almost immediately back to be born. All limp from surging boredom - Walked the Paradise in search of home And buried in someone's warm hand - Hands smelled strangely familiar. Do not remember the face and painting - Only hidden face in the collar dress. There was peace and quiet kindness .. And then we met the brothers. It was the sun (just not in the window) Golden, like a fish on a platter. And we were here - the general cat. And we, of course, have the general masters. We casually with older cats Came out in a circle - measure their strength. Me and purring kitties is gentle, Because I'm big and beautiful. It is always warm, and clean and dry - There is no rain or snow storm. I once broke up, then Gray's ear - Healed, and regret not yet. Grey is cool, he probably died in the fight. Grays - exactly my brother. At night he dreams about all the dogs. He growls at them in his sleep, but not much. I also dream, I flee Field. Every blade of grass - Different. I'm sorry, this is probably not making you feel better. Your tuxedo cat sounds like a gem. I will send my prayers for Oliver. And yes you were right to let him out.
