Can You Fly in Your Dreams?

Just wondering how many people out there can fly in their dreams. I mean flying just you, your body, without an airplane. It just started happening for me this year. Usually, I'm traversing these great jagged mountains that are hard to navigate, and then I finally realize that, hey, I can fly, and I lift up in the sky and soar through the air. At first, it was hard to fly, but now I can do aerobatics like a jet fighter. It's so much fun! I wish I could do it every night!

[Flaps arms]

[Sinks back to ground]

["This is a LUCID dream! We can definitely fly!"]

[Jumps into air]

[Flaps arms]

[Gains traction]

[Gains speed in the air]

[Gains incredible speed, whizzing by forests at dizzying speed]

[Has gone so far that there is nothing to see anymore, tries to see something but all visual input is gone. Feels like I'm zooming or falling at an incredible speed however]

Then the inevitable happens; waking up, and I can't reverse it. ALWAYS happens if I go this far.

If however, I decide to not "fall off the earth" but explore the landscape... I always have to shake my head and say, "Who DESIGNED all this?" I'm not anywhere as skilled as a designer, yet there are these gorgeous buildings and if I explore the rooms they have so much character and so many items. Did I somehow imagine/design this on the fly or am I actually exploring a place?

Those are my longest lucid dreams ever... when I focus on exploring what is around me.

nah...I fall like a brick off a 10 story building. My dreams are more realistically grounded I think.

I'm going to try and see how high I can go next time. Highest I ever made it was past the earth's atmosphere, and then I got scared.

Yea but , I allways have to float where I'm at first.
I'm still to scared to just jump off the edge with out
making sure I can still do it first.

I used to be able to fly short distances when I was younger, I'd launch myself off a hill and glide hundreds of feet. When I grew older I dreamed I was flying a small Harrier-type aircraft which seemed very real, piloting the craft seemed natural to me and I even kept in contact with control towers while flying from city to city. I associated both the gliding and flying with freedom. Haven't had a flying dream in years though--go figure...

Oh, that's odd. Whenever I have a dream that I'm piloting an airplane, it's always disastrous results. I used to be a pilot too. When I don't have the airplane, I fly perfectly.

I often have dreams where I can fly.


I also have many dreams where my legs just won't work properly. They get 'tangled' over each other, and feel like lead - I just can't get them to 'unlock' and it feels very real.

I hear ya. I'm the same way. Why should we be scared though? We know it's just a dream.
