Can You Fly in Your Dreams? | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 483402 United States 08/25/2008 03:13 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Just wondering how many people out there can fly in their dreams. I mean flying just you, your body, without an airplane. It just started happening for me this year. Usually, I'm traversing these great jagged mountains that are hard to navigate, and then I finally realize that, hey, I can fly, and I lift up in the sky and soar through the air. At first, it was hard to fly, but now I can do aerobatics like a jet fighter. It's so much fun! I wish I could do it every night! Quoting: MichelleMy favorite lucid dream ever was where I was at this tropical island paradise resort. There was what looked like a water jet ski, but which was able to fly into the air too!!! It was incredible flying up, down, around, skimming over water, zooming past an island mountain... just a total exploration of the pleasure of flight. |

We can definitely fly!"] [Jumps into air] [Flaps arms] [Gains traction] [Gains speed in the air] [Gains incredible speed, whizzing by forests at dizzying speed] [Has gone so far that there is nothing to see anymore, tries to see something but all visual input is gone. Feels like I'm zooming or falling at an incredible speed however] Then the inevitable happens; waking up, and I can't reverse it. ALWAYS happens if I go this far. If however, I decide to not "fall off the earth" but explore the landscape... I always have to shake my head and say, "Who DESIGNED all this?" I'm not anywhere as skilled as a designer, yet there are these gorgeous buildings and if I explore the rooms they have so much character and so many items. Did I somehow imagine/design this on the fly or am I actually exploring a place? Those are my longest lucid dreams ever... when I focus on exploring what is around me. I've never flown that long before. Do you always have to flap your arms to get off the ground? I can't remember doing that. I think actually I may do one arm flap and then lift off, or I just lift off without the arm flap. The soul knows it can transcend problems with a simple intent to fly. This is what flying dreams intend to remind or demonstrate to the consciousness. Of course the lucidity is part of it, linked to intent. You always are lucid in flying dreams. Part of the struggle. I can fly, no I can't, I can fly, no I can't. etc... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 422858I used to be able to fly short distances when I was younger, I'd launch myself off a hill and glide hundreds of feet. When I grew older I dreamed I was flying a small Harrier-type aircraft which seemed very real, piloting the craft seemed natural to me and I even kept in contact with control towers while flying from city to city. I associated both the gliding and flying with freedom. Haven't had a flying dream in years though--go figure... |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 490940 United Kingdom 08/25/2008 04:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I often have dreams where I can fly. Often, it's not so easy at first, but I soon get the hang of it. It's more like soaring though sometimes - I can float around and not hit the ground, but I need to exert some force to actually move upwards through the air. It feels completely natural, and like it's something I've always known how to do... just not done it in a while. I also have many dreams where my legs just won't work properly. They get 'tangled' over each other, and feel like lead - I just can't get them to 'unlock' and it feels very real. |

I realized I was dreaming after doing a reality check in the dream and then imagined my self flying, which caused my to fly at will in my dream. but then I woke up like 10 seconds later since I realized I was dreaming, but man those 10 seconds were pure bliss. Unfortunately I've lost my ability to lucid dream. maybe all that fluoride has calcified my pineal gland... |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 379467I used to be able to fly short distances when I was younger, I'd launch myself off a hill and glide hundreds of feet. I had similar dreams when I was a kid. We had a terraced yard. I'd run up to the edge of a terrace & then launch into the air and glide for about 50 yards. Now I frequently dream of gliding along with my feet a few inches off the ground. I can go higher, but it takes intense concentration. I'm always afraid that if I go too high and my concentration breaks, I'll fall. |
