Can You Fly in Your Dreams?
Just wondering how many people out there can fly in their dreams. I mean flying just you, your body, without an airplane. It just started happening for me this year. Usually, I'm traversing these great jagged mountains that are hard to navigate, and then I finally realize that, hey, I can fly, and I lift up in the sky and soar through the air. At first, it was hard to fly, but now I can do aerobatics like a jet fighter. It's so much fun! I wish I could do it every night!

It seems like little children would be able to do it easier, since they don't have a lot of stress and cares in their life at that age. I never did it as a child though.

Sometimes I can.

It's just like the Hitch Hikers guide to the galaxy.

Sometimes I just miss the ground, when I fall.

I used to be able to fly in my dreams, I was always being chased by someone/thing and could never fly fast enough.
That was when I was a nipper, I don't remember having a dream like that since being an adult.

Re: Can You Fly in Your Dreams?
When I was a kid, I would have recurring dreams where I was falling... It produced that feeling of having your guts in your throat.

Of course hitting the ground meant waking up.

Then, as I grew older, I had a few dreams about flying.

Usually, I had to accomplish something in the dream to attain my flight. And it was always somewhat lucid.

You just have to keep telling yourself that you can fly.

Get a running start, and jump. Practice, and eventually you will be able to lucidly fly in your dreams....

Yes, and you can actually feel the sensation of flying. I don't have these dreams as often as I did when I was a kid though.

I have also twice dreamed that I could fly, and I could feel the physical effort of it to begin with, and then once I was airbourne it was the easiest thing in the world. Gravity was a bitch though, both times.

Re: Can You Fly in Your Dreams?
I have flown several times in my dreams. It is an awesome experience! ... Actually, it seems normal in the dream -- it's just after you wake up that it seems so fantastic.

Once (in my dream) I was in India (flying dream), and helped locate a lost child.

One time I was able to go through concrete walls, etc. Now that was really something. Only did it once, though. Wish I could have another dream like that.

Have you ever tried to develop lucid dreams?
After you have enough experience you can...do....whatever....you....want to do..even fly.
You are in total control and decide what to dream.

I've died quite a few times in my dreams too. In different ways.

And each time it was like "oh... so THIS is what it's like to die"... no panic, no fear... just a very detached, peaceful feeling.

Re: Can You Fly in Your Dreams?
[Jumps into air]

[Flaps arms]

[Sinks back to ground]

["This is a LUCID dream! We can definitely fly!"]

[Jumps into air]

[Flaps arms]

[Gains traction]

[Gains speed in the air]

[Gains incredible speed, whizzing by forests at dizzying speed]

[Has gone so far that there is nothing to see anymore, tries to see something but all visual input is gone. Feels like I'm zooming or falling at an incredible speed however]

Then the inevitable happens; waking up, and I can't reverse it. ALWAYS happens if I go this far.

If however, I decide to not "fall off the earth" but explore the landscape... I always have to shake my head and say, "Who DESIGNED all this?" I'm not anywhere as skilled as a designer, yet there are these gorgeous buildings and if I explore the rooms they have so much character and so many items. Did I somehow imagine/design this on the fly or am I actually exploring a place?

Those are my longest lucid dreams ever... when I focus on exploring what is around me.

Re: Can You Fly in Your Dreams?
I fell asleep and found myself standing on the roof of a ranch house with a long porch roof. Out in the distance, I saw a cyclone fence. Closer to the ranch, there was a graveled parking area in front of the porch with a few cars parked there. Suddenly, I felt the urge to lift myself up above the roof, simply by forcing my mind to lift me up.
I started to glide above the roof toward the cyclone fence. As I grew closer, I had a difficult time slowing down.
I finally landed safely.

In another dream, using great mental strain, I lifted myself from the ground and started propelling my body toward a street with trees. I was at the level of the top of the trees and dared go no higher. There was a breeze that was pulling me closer to the trees. I fought hard to avoid the trees by shifting my weight. I gently landed.

Another dream, I was walking down a street and approached a section of sidewalk that was under water. I mentally lifted my body up by taking one step forward. That lifted me up and glided me over the sidewalk that was under water until I reached a safe part of the sidewalk, whereas my other foot resumed my walking gait.

Still another dream, I was in the city at night walking and suddenly I started floating up. I was frightened because I was approaching high voltage wires. I managed to stay just below them and floated for a while before decending back to the ground.

I haven't had those dreams since 1996. I still think I can fly.....somehow
