Has any men here started families in their mid 50s?
Probably should post anonymous, but who cares, right?

I'm feelin' bad today. As a man, I'll soon be moving from 51yo virgin to 52yo virgin. The problem I face, is that I'm still in the place I never progressed from nearly 40 years ago. And with that, I still want not only an intimate experience, but also a family and all the things.

Specifically the last year I feel like I've lost the last bits of attractiveness I may have had. Where as just a year before, I could at least get a smile out of woman in passing. Now it's like I'm absolutely invisible or they go well out of their way to avoid eye contact and misinterpretation.

I figured as I got older, I'd just gravitate further into hobbies or maybe some type of business, but it's not the case. Women are on my mind 24/7 and crushes all other interests. I thought men dry up in their 50s?

This is kinda like hell. Would it be different if I had all of the desires fulfilled and long behind me? If your thirsty, you drink. If you're hungry, you eat. If you're tired you sleep. If you crave intimacy and your old, you...

So, any older guys here that jumped in late and made it happen? Love, family, etc? How low did you go with your standards and what is worth it?

Re: Has any men here started families in their mid 50s?
i haven't personally. i've been tempted lately and i know several guys who have.

i might have done it if the world wasn't going bonkers. i know a few parents of elementary age kids that are completely lost about navigating the impact on the internet on their kids. sounds awful to me.

if things go madmax-ish? i would have a family in a lifeboat community if the opportunity arose.

If you haven’t been able to make it work yet why is now different. Gets harder each decade. Not easier. Plus to have kids you need a woman a decade younger or more. Why does she want to have kids with you? Good genes, dough, nice house?

You have to emotionally enslave a woman for her to stay.

Unless she's a woman of God.

There's levels to all of these things.

Seek God genuinely.

It's taken a long time to unwind some destructive thoughts and beliefs, I suppose. Maybe I can embrace my person, where previously I was never comfortable with myself.

Best advice.

All women (and men) are fucked up..

you have to find the one thats the least fucked up!

thats who you marry and have kids with!

If you're looking for trophy wife (husband), you'll have years of heartache, stress and pain.

Trying to keep up with the competition and maintenance will kill you faster than a broke-tooth Mexican hooker.

You will come to terms with it, no matter what happens.

I know a guy whose younger wife had a child when he was 61 or 62. He's doing fine and so is his kid, he's almost 80 now. That's about where I'd put the cap on it, though.
Early 60s. Chances are good you will have 20-30 years, and that's worth doing.

That is why he would need to take out a good life insurance policy to provide for wife and any kids should he die. Draw up a will. Anyone having kids should have a life insurance policy.

Be very involved in the child’s life. Educate them at home. Have a savings account for each for braces if needed and a used car when they start work. Help them get a scholarship if they want to go to college. Or a trade school. Or just go to work somewhere.

Let them stay at home as long as needed. Also take them on vacations. Give them some good life experiences. Don’t have kids if you can’t make their lives fun and interesting. Do not have kids if you can’t even provide for yourself. Be entirely and mentally stable.

If you can’t do this just save up for an assisted living. Maybe foster a child if you really want to help out.

Why do you want kids? They are a lifelong project. Especially if they are born with or develop disabilities. They can also die early and not be around in your old age. They could also hate you and move away. Think before jumping.

He had boatloads of money to raise them. And he didn’t need them to stick around and take care of him. It wasn’t a drag on him to have them and it not work out. He could also hire people to take care of them. Very different wing wealthy and having kids. And poor and having them. No one has to have kids anymore.

No but in having a family later that love, energy and responsibility may just add years to his life that he wouldn’t have had without a family.

He has lived responsibly to this point.

Let him follow his path.

I had a daughter at 42 and sometimes think it was a mistake.

This is no world to bring children into for one thing.

Also, I will be 60 when she graduates high school. Too old. Never wanted to be an old parent.

I love my kid though, so I do the best I can.

It's not just the kids. I'd like the whole experience. A woman that adores me, children that at least love me some of the time. I think I spend my old man hobbies as a young man, so I'm sitting here looking at what is incomplete. The love, intimacy, family section is still wide open.
