Bezos was watching Meta arrest their fall, and their small rise, IMMEDIATELY following their big layoff announcement. Amazon’s stock wasn’t following, so now it’s time for them to cut the SAME number of heads. Yes, the economy is in the shitter and only getting worse..but that’s what this is. 2023 will be the year of MASS layoffs, BTW. “A person is smart, people are stupid.” “Nobody knows until everybody knows” |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 84704430 There is a huge demand for grunt workers at amazon. Just in my area hundreds of amazon warehouse jobs are open. Exact point I was gonna make, there’s no way they are going to layoff warehouse or delivery drivers this close to Black Friday and Christmas. Sounds like they are getting rid of coders and other white collar jobs, because they put in the work to make the company more profitable and are no longer needed. Amazon loves to spread the shit around to all its employees equally CuriousSkeptic20 |

If these layoffs were related to warehouse stocking, shipping, and delivery service, then I would be concerned. I'm ordering more from Amazon now than I ever have, and for multiple reasons. 1) Local retail stores no longer stock some of the things I buy, or they are constantly out of stock on some items, such as cat food. I have 8 cases of cat food coming from Amazon this week because Walmart is constantly out of the Fancy Feast my cats eat. 2) I moved away from the big city for country living 2 years ago. Nearest town is 6 mile drive away. My vehicle gets 15 MPG. I spend very little on gas now. Also, not as many retail choices out here. Easier to just order what I can from Amazon. Free delivery! Walmart, try to beat THAT! Amazon is the new Walmart now that Walmart no longer stocks everything I need. 3) Reduced risk of getting COVID or any virus by avoiding going to the stores whenever possible. Reduced risk of car accident going to the store. Reduced risk of being shot or robbed by a crazy angry libtard. 4) Can avoid winter cold by not shopping locally. That's a big plus for me. I hate winter. And, it snowed today too. 2 inches on the ground now. And it's damn freezing outside. F'k going anywhere until next spring. 5) Walmart prices are no longer low. Amazon is now less expensive on certain items than Walmart. Love Amazon. Those people they laid off deserve what they get for creating those f'n Echo spying devices anyhow. |

How will this impact the 'experience' of using Amazon to purchase presents? I HATE going out to shop and Amazon helps me. Bezos isn't the sharpest knife in anyone's kitchen drawer. JDawn |

It feels much safer and I know the demand is there from trying to hire folks, takes 3-6 months to get a person in, and salary demands go higher and higher each time, entry-level with 0 experience is 85k+ now. |

IOW, a good portion of them are Karen-Gestapo Liberals. . |
