True, no more authority than the US would have if Mexico wanted to sign a mutual defense agreement with Russia and host Russian troops... But pretty sure US would claim they had a say in that authority or not.

The Russian army has lost at least four warplanes over the past 10 days, and about 55 since the beginning of the invasion.

“Russia has highly likely lost at least four combat jets in Ukraine within the last 10 days, taking its attrition to approximately 55 since the start of the invasion,” reads the intelligence update on Ukraine of the UK’s Ministry of Defence as of September 19 posted on Twitter.

According to the British intelligence estimate, the uptick in losses is partially a result of the Russian Air Force accepting greater risk as it attempts to provide close air support to Russian ground forces under pressure from Ukrainian advances.

“Russian pilots’ situational awareness is often poor; there is a realistic possibility that some aircraft have strayed over enemy territory and into denser air defence zones as the front lines have moved rapidly,” reads the report.

It is also noted that Russia’s continued lack of air superiority remains one of the most important factors underpinning the fragility of its operational design in Ukraine.

As reported, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Russian army lost 251 aircraft in Ukraine from February 24 to September 18.

You're damn right we'd have something to say about it. Hell, we blockaded Cuba over exactly that issue. I don't know why anybody wants to go through that exercise anymore, though. This is international politics. We can talk all we want about International Law. None of it means jack squat when massive armies and agendas are in play. It's the Law of the Jungle and the guy who brings the biggest gun wins.

Russia may not have a right, under international law, to say who gets to join NATO, but they damn sure care who gets in and they're not afraid to break international law to do something about it. Clearly, nobody else believes international law holds much sway, either, or they'd just try the case in the Hague trusting that Russia would abide by its decision instead of sending billions to Kiev. If you're laughing after reading that last sentence, there's a good reason for that.

Nope...I thought it might just be that their airports are all on the outskirts of Moscow but there have been several what appear to be deviations of various flights and as I keep checking the entire area of Moscow proper has ZERO airplanes over it...not one.
