i doubt it. Russia has working fleet of hypersonic delivery capability. England would be glass before your "state of the art western supremacy" would be halfway. And likely Russias S400 and S500s will intercept yours too. I dont think the west is willing to play that hand for a lost cause. Ukraine is their dumpingground for obsolete equipment, not a place to die for. Whatever the outcome will be, Ukraine will cease to exist the coming days. Either the west dies with it or not, they make their own beds.

The airspace over Moscow city centre is never open for commercial flights

Yes..flights are landing BUT there are ZERO flights DIRECTLY over Moscow itself.... I have no idea if that is "normal" or not and frankly I doubt you do either.

I realize that but the airspace directly over Moscow itself is EMPTY. I have no idea if that is normal or not but it seems odd to me. I know every major city has planes flying over them all the time....Moscow, as we speak, does not.

As mentioned above, no commercial flights are ever allowed over Moscow city centre. The main issue right now is that the Russian airspace near the border of Ukraine is restricted to all flight must move to the east first to then go down to the west towards Turkey and other countries, but far from Ukraine.

I suspected this might just be normal flow but have never seen a city forbid air traffic over them as a routine. Seems like a very intelligent system if that is the case. Appreciate the info.

Duma Defense Committee chair Kartapolov says new amendments don’t mean a draft

Amending the criminal code with provisions for mobilization, martial law and wartime doesn’t necessarily mean Moscow is about to declare a draft – or war, Russian lawmaker Andrey Kartapolov clarified on Tuesday.

Kartapolov, who chairs the Defense Committee of the State Duma, was the co-author of the amendments the lower house of the Russian parliament approved on Tuesday. Among other things, they establish criminal penalties for crimes committed during “wartime,” “martial law,” or a “mobilization period.”

Fears that this means a mobilization are “absolutely unjustified,” Kartapolov told the Parliamentary Gazette. “There will be no general mobilization. The president has spoken about this more than once and is directly speaking through his press secretary Dmitry Peskov and many other politicians at the federal level.”

The adopted amendments include harsher punishments for looting or going AWOL during wartime, or committing any crime during a period of military mobilization. They also criminalize the sabotage of defense contracts.

Kartapolov also confirmed that the militias of the Donbass republics would be integrated into the Russian military, in case Donetsk and Lugansk vote to join Russia later this week. This would “significantly change the situation in a number of ways,” he said.

I have to give it to them then...it's an incredibly smart move not to allow flights over the city....wish more cities would do this.
