Did you know Shut Down in Windows 10 don't actually shut down your computer ?

You need to cut it off from the power source to actually shut t down. That means shut off the power bar (strip) or unplug the computer. No lights on.

What does it benefit by having your computer completely shutdown and turned off before turning it back on again? I usually just use restart but just changed it to this other setting and am wondering what it will benefit by completely turning off my computer instead.

I use camera covers, I disable all mics at the hardware level, and limit open TCP/UDP ports. All unnecessary software is eliminated. I audit my security weekly. Every device not in use is powered down. At night, I unplug my router when not in use.

At one point in MS/memory available, it opened areas in RAM previously allocated to any previously run application, no matter how HUGE.
Full reboot gives largest swaths of virgin RAM for any purpose.

Whether that still holds, not sure, but highly suspect it does.

Also why any MS system needs full reboot at least once a moon.

Stop installing in UEFI mode, and install in Legacy. Windows.

I accidentally stuck a mag mount directly on top of my usb hard drive and it did jack shit to it.

In the search windows type : Control Panel

Select Hardware and Sound

In the power options click : change what the power buttons do.

At the top of the window click : change settings that are currently unavailable.

This would allow to uncheck the boxes that are greyed out at the bottom of the window.

Uncheck : Turn on fast startup. If the option is not there for you, that means your computer doesn't have that feature and is already turning off completely by default.

Done.

Now when you shutdown your computer, it will actually do it completely.

You can fix this permanently by installing Linux. And even then only if ACPI is functioning properly.

Latent weak wifi could still keep idled rather than truly off.

Fully disconnected and faraday blanket only way to be sure.
