Wal Mart blocking cell phone signals inside their stores.

This. People walk through our store all day long and scan the bar code on the products and buy them online. It really sucks to talk to someone for half an hour and tell them exactly what they need and they scan it and buy it at amazon. I get it its cheaper, but without me you wouldnt have known what part to get and that is killing business. People call in and ask for part #s . I tell them no. They get jacked but I dont get paid to sell parts for Amazon. amazon sells to the public for the same price my distributer charges me. In some cases my actual distributers sell directly to the public for the same prices they sell to me for. Its going to kill retail. The waste is so high with amazon, people trying to figure out the parts they need and sending back product 3 or 4 times trying to get the right parts instead of paying me a measly 20 or 30% markup to get the right stuff the first time and be done.

They want to stop all of those "The shelves are empty' videos.

Just went to Wal Mart with the family.
We usually separate and do our own shopping.
Always before I would usually be done before the wife and I would call to see where she is to meet up.
Today, for the first time, I tried calling, and just went to voice mail.

So my question to you is. Why are they doing this?

I am so sick of it and I already know the legal angle, actually about 3 of them that make this very illegal.


It happens in no other stores of the same size. You can go to target or Bass Pro Shops and your signal is fine.

I think brining in a software defined radio dongle in the cell phone carrier bands should pick up the interference.

We use Walmart Pay, basically we pay for our purchases in store directly from their ap.

Do you use their wifi, they try to push people onto it and I wouldn't login to that with my enemies device.

Second, and this sounds nuts, but I have been unable to use amazon in their store but found the Walmart app works ok.


I also noticed on my cell tower app that lets me see what towers I a talking to, there is a tower right next to the store, despite the shit service.


So could they be running some advanced site filtering using a tower on their property? Seems far-fetched but who knows.

I did just think of a legal loophole that would let them do this without messing with the FCC.

What if they design their stores to block or significantly degrade cell phone data service?

Right right that's it. They're always doing shit like jamming my signal when I'm in a parking garage too. Or in like solid lead boxes. No fucking signal it's amazing. Sometimes when I drive in very remote areas in the country they also jam my signal. I don't seem to be able to connect. Another oddity is when my phone gets to 0% battery I think they jam my signal then too because I just can't seem to use it after it hits zero it's probably so I can't price compare. you're right
