Quoting: MonkeyWrangler I was a space cadet growing up, trust me. But this launch has me questioning the whole thing. #1- While watching the launch, I get they are seated backwards, but I am confused about their seat belts. There was multiple times when they were showing them and they were loose. #2 -Still with the seat belts, why are they not locked in with seat belts on a roller coaster ? To secure them in, in case of an event ? - But I guess I could answer this my self as you are going to say the g-force keeps them in place.. but still #3 - When they launched... and were experiencing g force.. how could their arms and hands move so freely ? #4 - When they got in to "space" with zero gravity, how come only the teddy bear was moving ... they were in the beginning letting their arms "float" , but their legs were not "floating" and then all of a sudden their arms did not float and they were fist pumping like before. #5- Can you explain the plastic looking back right behind the rocket, I am sure it is heat resistant...but.. wow.. I am seriously not trolling, and although I was a space nerd growing up, I am confused. Ok I am trolling now because I really want you to answer these questions.. Like seriously what am I missing. You have answered questions before and after mine.. like WTF ? I consumed too much alcohol in celebration to answer that many questions in one post. In general the answer is simple, your preconceived notions don't dictate reality. If someone's rubber boots are sitting up against a foot pedestal they're not going to float off that necessarily unless they release the pressure in their muscles. Just because their arms are floating doesn't mean they can't fist bump. Just because they hit three or four g's doesn't mean they can't move their arms. And the seatbelts didn't look that loose to me, but the forces they experience both in launch and potential splashdown are all through the chest anyway. What plastic looking back? You mean the nozzle? It's not actually plastic... |

Not the rum part. They had to drink massive quantities of rum to convince themselves they were doing the right thing. The right stuff. |

HOW are they going to shit and piss? Do their suits have accomodations for this? They're only in pressure suits during launch and entry, and if there's a risk of cabin depressurizing from a known space debris conjunction. |

Even without the suits, there would have to be some way to evacuate their bodies in a zero G environment without having stuff floating all over. Maybe they have some kind of vacuum toilet machine. Then again - toilet paper would have the same problem. |

I hope the weather is good so we can maybe see them. That would be so cool! Or would they be too small to see with the scope? They aren't really putting off any light, are they? Anonymous Coward User ID: 80843485 United States 09/16/2021 12:40 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Ah, so you think this private space mission is fake too, I assume? So no one will be able to track it in orbit, right? Why do you track it, Astro? And what happens when you can't? So I can get video like this and prove it's really up there. :Isscrew2: If I can't do it personally, some other amateur astronomer probably will. Do you have video of other satellites in space? |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 76509910 United States 09/16/2021 12:47 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | That was amazing…hopefully leads to a whole new era in space. Is there any footage of stage one actually landing ? I know it’s dark but have loved watching those rockets come back and landing. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77341289 And Astro…maybe a dumb question…but have you ever been able to get actual time with the Hubble Telescope ? Not sure how that works nor who you have to be but seems like you have made some contributions that could lead to at least a slot on a team ? Never had any time on Hubble, I'm just an amateur astronomer, but maybe one day they'll point it to my comet. Who knows? That would be an awesome experience, hopefully they do just that. For what it’s worth…I have learned a lot from your threads and enjoy your insight and knowledge so thanks |

Thanks for putting this thread together Astro. "There are known knowns. There are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns.
