They are building a HUGE brand new Meijers store by my house. It is almost done have no idea what the hell they are going to fill that huge place with.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80351937

Fred Meyer and

Fred Meijer are two different people/companies.

As a grocery supplier I wont say Meijer is perfect.

But they are a much better operation than kroger and wal mart
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80515647

Oh, I always thought it was Fred Meijer, not Meyer.. I always wondered why a company from Grand Rapids had any stores in the PNW, lol. That's weird because Meijer (originally called Meijer Thrifty Acres) was started by Fred Meijer.
 Quoting: thinking...

Yeah Old Fred Meijer was really a good ole guy.
I had the pleasure of meeting him before he passed away.
The positive culture he started a Meijer has faded away yet.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80515647

Are you in the GR area? I noticed the other AC mentioned the new Meijer going up and I'm near that, too.

I need to make some red pilled, local friends, and I'm not kidding. I'm worried about not having any RL contacts with all of this shit coming down. My husband almost refuses to acknowledge what's going on so just rides and works on his Harley and watches CNN!

The best quote I read today was:

"If this were a real pandemic, we would not be firing hospital staff."

Similarly, we would not be firing anyone in the trucking or food businesses if this were a real pandemic.

Wasn’t Kroger a Seattle supporter?

Kroger is parent corp for QFC and Fred Meyer…two major grocers in the Puget Sound.

I appreciate the heads up, OP.

If Safeway comes out with the same news I will become very concerned.

While I have nothing to back this up, I kind of think that online orders w/curbside pick up and to your door delivery - Walmart and Amazon - may be putting pressure on in store inventory. The delivery thing is very "Great Reset" and was kicked into high gear with the commencement of the scamdemic. Even if that's the case, though, it should still be the same amount of product for the same amount customers, right?
 Quoting: thinking...

A couple months ago, the only way I was finally able to buy chicken wings was to order it off Walmart's website and then drive to the store for free pickup a few hours later. There would never be any on the shelves, it seemed like they were just reserved for online orders. Same thing with certain condiment sauces, shows in stock on their site...but empty shelves.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80643023

Wow, so there's some proof of my suspicion and what a bunch of bullshit it is. I like to shop in person, for various reasons, and do not want to buy everything online, "Great Reset" style. What this online shopping will lead to is the closing of brick and mortar stores and further consolidation by the huge corporations like Amazon and Wally World. Once they control the market, they control the prices and terms and, if you don't like them, there won't be any local grocers left.
 Quoting: thinking...

I think Walmart loves it because they now don't have to worry about merchandise walking out the door with the online orders. They REALLY are trying to push people to order online. It's really becoming a hassle to shop in person, not just Walmart. I only hate it because you have to spend $35 minimum, even with the Plus membership.

Kroger: ‘Organized crime’ among contributors to higher food prices

Kroger grocery chain will raise food prices from 2-3% this year, more than what they expected, Rodney McMullen, the Kroger grocery chain’s chief executive officer, says.

On Kroger’s earnings report call on Friday, the chief financial officer, Gary Millerchip, said higher supply chain costs, rising levels of theft, and increasing food prices all will play roles.

“We are being more aggressive,” Millerchip said on the call. “Our general counsel is also working with some trade associations to try to start working on it in a broader group, not just Kroger-specific, when you look at organized crime.”

Cincinnati-based Kroger touts itself as one of the world’s largest retailers with more than 2,700 stores in 35 U.S. states.

[link to www.wishtv.com (secure)]
 Quoting: Anon Braveheart

Millerchip went on to say that Home Depot and other major retailers also are experiencing something similar to people stealing products before they get to the store. “We do believe it’ll be important to partner with the government and the way products are able to be sold in the marketplace.”
"
"Partner with the government?!!! WTF does that mean? The last thing we need is a grocery retailer partnering with the govt (which is fascism, btw). What on earth can he mean by that?

IT'S FROM SEPTEMBER 10TH, 2021 (CNBC)

VIDEO IS 4:31 IN LENGTH.

THE KROGER CEO ONLY SPEAKS BRIEFLY ON THE SUPPLY CHAIN, AND THE COMING INFLATION. HE ALSO SPEAKS ABOUT "ORGANIZED CRIME" STEALING SIGNIFICANTLY FROM KROGER.
---------------------------------------------

MY ANALYSIS: There seems to be many indicators that all kinds of goods are becoming more scarce for many different reasons. I believe it is part of the Agenda 2030 Plan.

The drought in the Western U.S. is bad, and that means a lower agriculture yield. Many ranchers cannot afford cattle feed for this winter, and will send many cattle to the butcher this fall. Meat might go down in price over the winter briefly due to the increase of available meat, but by spring meat might get very expensive. Consider getting canned meat or jerky now, so you might have beef in the future.

Shipping expenses from China have increased DRAMATICALLY. Is this by design?

U.S. oil production and pipelines has been slowed by Biden, hurting production and industry of all types.

Why is lumber so expensive suddenly, the trees grow in the U.S. Maybe not enough workers working? Transportation issues? Any Biden Public Policy on forestry?

These are just a few signs of the Agenda 2030 Plan in motion. Many more issues and tyranny coming soon.

And you know it!drevil

Thank you for finding this.

The way I hear it, Mr. McMullen is using supply chain issues (and he's referring to COSTS, rather than supply failure) as a partial explanation for Kroger's quarterly earnings being a bit short of what was expected.

I heard nothing about a looming supply chain crisis.

Moreover . . . it's not something they'd announce, no matter how honest they want to be. That would simply incite panic buying/hoarding, which wouldn't serve anyone's purposes well.

We're going to have items that are occasionally unavailable, no question. There'll be longer-term supply shortfalls, too, and that'll have an ugly impact on prices. But that's how scarcity is rationed in a free market.

Re: Tonight NBC Nightly news… “Kroger announces major supply chain interruptions”.
The same Kroger that is doing a billion dollar stock buy back. I guess they are taking a little extra on top of the inflation and supply chain "interruptions"

LOL wow, I should have read more of the thread before the comment just above.

So a story about supply chain issues could cause some to dump the stock just in time for it to be cheaper for the buyback. Pretty sure Martha Stewart went to jail for less.
