POLL: ARE YOU ANNOYED By YOUR NEIGHBOR'S CAR HORN CHIRP EVERY TIME HE SHE LOCKS OR REMOTE STARTS THEIR CAR?

Ive had one of those remote door locker / unlockers on my keychain for about 20 years now. The only time i ever use it is if im in a big parking lot. Ill press the door lock button causing the horn to go off and it guides me directly to my car.

The only other time i use it is if someone is walking by my car ill pres it to scare the shit out of the person.

Shit. I do that every day. Hope I am not pissing someone off enough to attack me. It is a nice feature when not at home though so everyone including me knows it is locked and alarm is set.

I don't have neighbors where I live either, but hate hearing it when i go to the store or doctor's office. Especially if its loud and you dont expect it.

You know those little short car horn honks that you hear all over the city all day long? When people remote-locking or remote-starting their vehicles? How do you feel about the noise pollution it creates?

Please comment in a reply if you feel laws should be created about banning the feature of car horn chirps for repeated and common remote features in a car, because of its public noise pollution nuisance.

See if you can figure out how to do everything without honking your car horn. I challenge you to do it for the sake of less noise pollution.

Some think the horn is a alarm they set when it usually isn't.

I think it's noise pollution.
There's enough noise in the city without constant car honks going off.

And it's not my neighbors. It's cars all day long as you drive past them and their car horn goes off. You don't know if someone's honking at you for some emergency reason. To me, a car horn honk should be reserved for some kind of emergency, usually a driving emergency.

So, if you hear these car horn chirps all day long everywhere all over the city, you become desensitized to car horns honking, and you will ignore an important car horn honk.

I have built in car alarm for my Jeep Grand Cherokee. I turned off the annoying horn sound when the car locks. I don't need to broadcast to my neighbors that I'm special.

Besides, the way things are going, the Jeep will be repossessed by fall. :)

Hit the damn door lock before you close the door. I have a neighbor who hits the remote door lock 6 or 8 times. You know what I'd like to do with their damn key fob.

Yes. I have 2 cars constantly all day long locking their cars with the chirp. My car locks and if I hit it twice it beeps. I only ever hit it once. Also my boyfriends car he can turn the sound off. Which he did. Haha I agree 100% we need less noise pollution.
