i know we have a diverse group that covers the planet. if it really is a snapshot of the world, they are in trouble.

for so few ppl compared to the total world population,we have had the extremes. long haulers, family who died, sick from vaccines, recurring covid, etc. and those are off the top of my head. i think i heard someone had covid twice too a ways back.

I'm not giving up. I've come this far and through SO much, I'm not letting anything I can control from stopping me. I just need a kick in the pants occasionally! LOL I count on you guys to do that. Sorry, it's probably not very fair.

I really am more concerned about things in Ukraine, right now. Might want to add some different things to our preps quickly. We've all prepped for the virus and shortages, but I know we don't have things like painter plastic and enough tape to seal off a safe room. We don't have a basement.

I try to NOT be a nervous nellie. My family thinks I overreact to things like this, but I feel like I still have a bit of control if I've thought out and prepped for the possibilities. I don't panic, but I don't ignore, either. It's hard being the only prepper in the family.

I was kind of concerned Wednesday night with the meteorite over WPB...
I didn’t see it...heard about it on GLP, of course, lol....

Riff Raff is the authority on survival with respect to radiation...
I wish he would do a thread on it, or maybe post on here...Ik he’s been on the Ukraine thread and I saw a couple of posts but I can’t keep up it with all these threads these days...

Ik he said if you are far enough away to survive the initial blast and take precautions for a few weeks, it is survivable...not sure I want to, tbh...

Growing up in Virginia near the navy and whatnot it really wasn’t a viable option....maybe I should move away since Maralargo could get friendly fire, so to speak....

I am hopeful the aliens will pop up before it gets that far...
Btw, I did get spooked driving on the turnpike yesterday when one station played 99 red balloons...driving on the highway reminded me of the scene from the day after when the guy ducked in his car on the highway...

We aren't very far from Davis-Besse, a nuclear power plant. It's an old one. They built it when I was in high school in the 70's. Darn thing has been down more than up over the years.

If things go hot, I'm not sure we'd make it. DB used to be on the hit list. I don't know about now. Wright-Patterson almost has to be. I think the first targets would be DC and somewhere on the west coast.

I'm going to get some of the heavy plastic that you put down when you paint and a bunch of tape. Hopefully, there hasn't been a shortage of that. I still remember some of the stuff I learned living in Europe during the Gulf War. I'm going to look up some videos this weekend to make sure I haven't overlooked something.

I'm not too sure I want to live after that, either. I said years ago, when I lived even closer to DB than I do now, that I would take the kids and sit on the back step to watch the fireworks. I still kind of feel that way.

By the way, off-topic personal update:

I completed my final day at my employment this past Tuesday. It was very cordial with no bridges burned.

I have a second interview for a Safety Manager position with a utility company on Monday, and a third interview upcoming for an IT position with an international corporation.

I'm honestly torn between the two. The Safety Manager position is what I really want to do, but the IT position would allow me to work from home and would have better benefits plus retirement.

Going to be a tough call if I get offered both positions.

Raffette gets her second shot this morning, and goes back to work next week in a rotating one-week-in-one-week-from-home schedule.

Dude. Two hours to get fluids ... even Gatorade .... it is too long.

At minimum, call 911... you can ask them to triage her..... that’s better than waiting.

I know that none of us like hospitals right now.... but those symptoms are not wait it out symptoms.

My wife is having a very strange condition. She is experiencing extreme vertigo and is dry heaving. She cannot walk to the toilet without aid. She had the Moderna jab 1 about a week ago. Any ideas? All I have is drink as much water as she can, even if she throws up 10 minutes later. I am worried.
 Quoting: Lago

You need to make her take in electrolytes, and go to an urgent care or doctor in the morning.

Go buy some Gatorade or pedialite if you don't have any.
 Quoting: R. Wordsworth

Done. Should arrive in two hours. Petrified of commercial building recirculated air in hospitals.
 Quoting: Lago

 Quoting: CleverCreator

We both have a fear of hospitals, relatives go in but they don't come out + Covid now. She woke up this morning, the vertigo is gone. A 12x12x12 bucket was half full and she drank 3 bottles of Gatorade. Thanks again RW for that recommendation--(Gatorade or similar should be added to preps!). Her oxygen level was 97% this morning. She cancelled her beloved weekly massage as her stomach was queasy but her colour is back and she ate a little bit of dry toast which, so far, has stayed down. Thanks for all the help last night everybody, I got a little bit panicky with this fucking virus so prevalent in LA.

Oh man. This ain’t good. Only 7 positive tests. Where are they hiding them?

Less than 50%

The Iowa Department of Public health on Saturday reported seven new COVID-19 positive tests and eight additional deaths.

Since the start of the pandemic, as of 10 a.m., the health department reported 388,331 total positive tests, 399,990 total recoveries and 5,878 total deaths. Twenty-four hours earlier, the health department reported 388,324 total positive tests and 5,870 total deaths.

Thankyou Moniker! She is not 100% yet. The dry toast came up, she has a stomach ache, but she is sleeping now. Blood oxygen is still 97% and her BP is OK. As I did all last night, I am closely monitoring her which is pissing her off! Too bad in this age of covid. She just woke and is not feeling well at all, holding the dreaded bucket again. But her oxygen and BP levels are good.
