Jesus died and went to hell for 3 days?

Jesus died for all human sin, including all sin before his incarnation, during, and after. When you say hell, it's not like the dead were in a place of torture, they were just in a place. Jesus went to that place and preached the Good News (the Gospel) to the dead , about who he was and what they could do for eternal life (accept him), which was the same for them as it is for us.
OP, I'm going to conclude that you don't know much about the tenets Christianity, but I guess that most people don't.

Jesus shows there were two sides of Hell before he went to the Cross, then descended (remember he told thief he would be with Him in Paradise?), then led captivity captive when he ascended. Now Jesus Christ sits at the right hand of God.

Jesus did not go to hell. Hell is judgment, there is no hope for people there, there is no reason for him to go there.

He went to Abraham's Bosom.

Some people believe the souls in Abraham's Bosom are awake and I believe they are not awake.

Be went to Abraham's Bosom. He was resirrected 3 days later. He did not preach or need to preach to anyone in Abraham's Bosom. They will accept the Messiah whoever he may be, he didn't need to go and begin a convincing campaign.

Abraham's Bosom is inside the earth and bordering hell.

There were no commas in the manuscripts. Move the comma, and you change the meaning:

"Verily, verily I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise."

or

"Verily, verily I say to you today, you will be with me in paradise."


I lean toward the later.

Jesus uses the phrase ""Verily, verily I say to you" several times.

And He never used "to day" afterwards....though He could have.

Week before last I attended a funeral for my father in law. He was a Vietnam vet and all around good man.
During his funeral the pastor (I really don't know the domination) said Jesus died and went to hell for 3 days before being resurrected into Heaven.

I've never heard of such a thing. Ever...
The rest of the service was pretty normal, lords prayer etc.
That just hasn't set well with me since.

Anyone shed some light on this?
