Help me with pain from surgery, please please please | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 72463119 United States 01/05/2017 01:11 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Bear in mind that this is part of your past karma you're burning off, so there's a positive benefit to it. We all go through a measure of pain/suffering in life to burn off our karmas (effects from past deeds). I've known terrible pain (on a scale of 1 to 10, was around a 15). Was so bad it literally put me in shock. Thought it was going to stop my heart. So I have a lot of empathy for those in pain. Hang in there. Lots of prayers being sent your way by everyone here and I did QE for you, which I've never known to not help in some way -- usually miraculously. Try this: 1. Rate your pain level on a scale from 0 to 10 with 10 being the worst. 2. Mentally "welcome" the pain by simply becoming fully 100% conscious of it. Awareness helps turn off the pain signal in the brain. It's like a red warning light in an airplane cockpit. It needs your full attention (awareness). So don't try to avoid it or distract yourself from it, and don't try to "think" about it. Just feel fully the visceral SENSATION of it without a mental story. Feel the sensation consciously full-on without resisting or wanting to change or get rid of it and even without any labels such as "pain", "hurt", "torture", etc. Just the sensation. 3. As you welcome it, you may notice your mind becomes quieter. Shift your attention 100% onto that and away from the sensation of pain. Just quietly observe the quiet or peaceful or other "good" feeling. It may deepen, lessen, or change to another feeling. Doesn't matter. Just keep watching it and if your mind drifts, come back to it. 4. After a couple minutes, rate your pain level again and see if it dropped from the initial. If so, start again at step 2 and keep going to see if you can drop it even further. -- Also, we each have our own built-in, natural opioid system. It get depleted, but we can rebuild it. Traumas and stress deplete our natural ability to produce pain-killing chemicals like endorphins. Amino acids like D-Phynylalanine help rebuild the system. Speak with a knowledgable healthcare practitioner (preferably an integrative or functional medicine provider) to see if it's okay to follow this protocol given the drugs you're on and medical history: Restoring the Natural Opioid System with D-Phenylalanine (DPA): A Novel Therapeutic Approach By Julia Ross MA, MFT Published in Practical Pain Management, Nov/Dec 2009, Vol. 9, Issue 9, pp 29-31 The body produces its own powerful pain-modulating neurotransmitters. Chronic pain and other chronic stressors, combined with a diet low in protein, can create deficiencies in the three most critical of these pain-modulators: serotonin, gamma-amino-butyric acid (GABA), and endorphin. (1-3)In earlier articles in Practical Pain Management, we discussed the use of diet and amino acid supplementation in promoting optimal levels of serotonin and GABA. This article targets the use of diet and amino acids in the optimization of the endogenous opiates, the endorphins-our most potent natural analgesics. Endorphin is a term used to identify a group of naturally-occurring compounds that can powerfully reduce pain.(1) Primary among them are the beta-endorphins and the enkephalins. These endogenous opioids, molecule-for-molecule, are thousands of times stronger than morphine.(2,3) ... His results: "93.1% of my patients using a combination of electromagnetic current, proper diet, nutritional supplements with amino acids and meditation/relaxation experienced significant long-Iasting chronic pain relief without any pain medication. Most patients took a minimum of 1000mg of DPA four times a day initially and didn't require it for pain control after 14 days. Anonymous Coward User ID: 73719499 United Kingdom 01/05/2017 02:23 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It has been 30 days since I had bi-max MMA surgery to fix a topological defect in my airway. The procedure is defined by the detachment and re-attachment of the upper and lower mandible, after moving both forward a set distance and the reattching them with titanium plates and screws. In my case it was ~ 12mm. It has, thank God, well and truly cured my sleep apnea. I was averaging 70 episodes per hour in which I would hold my breath for 30 seconds or longer. Quoting: Apocalypse Troll I was dying a little bit every night. Imagine seeing a coffin instead of a bed... The procedure required my face to be peeled back from inside my mouth. During the procedure my surgeon noticed my nostril airways were also constricted and bored them out with some kind of roto-rooter bone burr saw and then sewed all the skin back together. I was bitten by a black widow on a nerve plexus in my left arm about a decade ago. I thought that was the most pain a person could endure. It literally slowed my perception of the passage of time it was so intense. That was nothing, I now clearly see. I have developed atypical neuralgia in my maxillary v2 and mandibular v3 branches off my trigeminal nerve. I close my eyes and can see the skin peeling back from my lips and chin as it is turned to ash by intense heat and fire, only to regenerate and it starts all over again. That is juxtaposed with the sensation that the skin is covered by constantly agitating and bursting pustules cause by exposure to acid or some biological agent. It absolutely has not stopped since the surgery, not even for a moment, and today is the worst day yet. I fear walking too fast because the wind of my passage, on my face, is an inferno. Baby spoons are made of Constantino wire. The whiskers of my dogs are electrified whips. The prognosis is good, they say, as I have recovered some feeling in the areas that were so abused by the surgery, but the possibility of 5 more months of this has despair folding me into the dark abyss of its clawed, leathery wings. In the meantime, rub castor oil on, and massage the insides of your wrists... I am so sorry you are going through this... Prayers for your relief.... My surgeon will write me a referral / script for acupuncture tomorrow. I agree that will give me the greatest relief. I must manage the cause, not the symptoms. DMSO and opiates and Kratom and Tylenol are all fine and good, but pain is a symptom. The source of pain, the raw, tortured nerves that are like guitar strings wound to breaking and being played manically, those must be soothed and urged to repair themselves and their electrical flow. With the exception of time, nothing else will do that as well as acupuncture. Have you looked into Benfotiamine? It is the only water soluble B1 vitamin, developed in Japan. It is essential for healing damaged nerves. I had bad nerve pain in my wrist and an old doctor prescibed it here in Germany. It healed my nerve damage. Painkillers only help for the symptoms but you need to heal the damaged nerves! |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1550123 United States 01/05/2017 11:08 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | OP, the trigeminal clearly was damaged during the surgery. It was almost unavoidable in your case; it can be damaged even during routine oral surgery. Typical synthetic opioid pain killers don't do much for damaged nerve pain, as you're seeing. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73707055 You need to get on top of this pronto, or it could become a permanent pain situation -chronic neuralgia, and all its attendant issues. Need to reverse the neural pathway of the pain ASAP. And it *can* be healed. Do this: Get Benfotiamine, 300 mg. Take one twice a day, every single day. Get *SUB LINGUAL* methylcobalamin, 5000 mcg. Not cyanocobalamin; it is far less bio-available. Dissolve one under your tongue every single day. This combination will vastly accelerate healing of the damaged nerve, putting a stop to the neural-brain path. Clinical studies (not widely reported in this country, cuz big pharma would rather sell their drugs) bear this out. Have myself observed the healing of a doctor-predicted permanent neuralgic problem in someone who followed the protocol. Pretty amazing. Just do this, along with the DMSO. It at least won't harm you, and I feel certain it will help. BTW, stay far far away from anything containing acetaminophen. It is notorious for causing chemical-induced hepatitis. My sincerest sympathies, and God speed! Please try the protocol. Very interesting. Never heard of Benfotiamine. Learn something everyday. Sounds like very good advice and it is not expensive. That stuff is good for diabetic nerve pain also. |
