Re: Help me with pain from surgery, please please please
It has been 30 days since I had bi-max MMA surgery to fix a topological defect in my airway. The procedure is defined by the detachment and re-attachment of the upper and lower mandible, after moving both forward a set distance and the reattching them with titanium plates and screws. In my case it was ~ 12mm. It has, thank God, well and truly cured my sleep apnea. I was averaging 70 episodes per hour in which I would hold my breath for 30 seconds or longer.

I was dying a little bit every night. Imagine seeing a coffin instead of a bed...

The procedure required my face to be peeled back from inside my mouth. During the procedure my surgeon noticed my nostril airways were also constricted and bored them out with some kind of roto-rooter bone burr saw and then sewed all the skin back together.

I was bitten by a black widow on a nerve plexus in my left arm about a decade ago. I thought that was the most pain a person could endure. It literally slowed my perception of the passage of time it was so intense. That was nothing, I now clearly see.

I have developed atypical neuralgia in my maxillary v2 and mandibular v3 branches off my trigeminal nerve.

I close my eyes and can see the skin peeling back from my lips and chin as it is turned to ash by intense heat and fire, only to regenerate and it starts all over again. That is juxtaposed with the sensation that the skin is covered by constantly agitating and bursting pustules cause by exposure to acid or some biological agent. It absolutely has not stopped since the surgery, not even for a moment, and today is the worst day yet.

I fear walking too fast because the wind of my passage, on my face, is an inferno. Baby spoons are made of Constantino wire. The whiskers of my dogs are electrified whips.

The prognosis is good, they say, as I have recovered some feeling in the areas that were so abused by the surgery, but the possibility of 5 more months of this has despair folding me into the dark abyss of its clawed, leathery wings.

Re: Help me with pain from surgery, please please please
Op I have had a real tough haul recently with my own pain and I started a supplement and its been about a week and I am honestly feeling so much better, it might be just the natural waxing and waning of my issues - OR - I found something that really really helps me.

SERRAPEPTASE

You can google it, I think it might help you - I am very serious - this pain I thought was going to do me in seems greatly relieved after a week. Maybe a fluke - maybe real - maybe something that will help you.

"Serrapeptase is used for painful conditions including back pain, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis, fibromyalgia, carpel tunnel syndrome, migraine headache, and tension headache.

It is also used for conditions that involve pain and swelling (inflammation) including sinusitis, laryngitis, sore throat, ear infections, swelling after surgery, swelling of a vein with the formation of a blood clot (thrombophlebitis), and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) including ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease"

Sweet Jesus the DMSO stopped all the facial twitching...

Edit to add that as much as I would like to try marijuana or whatever, I get hair follicle tested at work on a regular basis.

Got to keep it 100% legal, prescribed by a physician for any opiates, etc..

I still have the orthodontics, which are exacerbating the problem. They come out in 2 weeks to be replaced by normal orthodontics.

I am currently in Pain management, taking ~2000mg Gabpentin/day. It is completely ineffectual.

I am not having suicidal thoughts, I am just on the edge of despair.

A note about DMSO that I hope you already know, OP: make sure the skin to which you apply it is clean as the DMSO can push microbes into your blood.

Try acupressure too. It cant hurt, and may really help. [link to www.acupressure.com]

Strangely enough, I may have to go through the same procedure. My sleep apnea is starting to cause me heart problems. I hope you keep us all updated on your progress.

GOD BLESS AND THE LORD JESUS CHRIST HEAL YOUR PAIN I ASK OF OUR LOVING GOD.smile_hear

Dear one I had severe shingles which was terrible, and now four years later am suffering from a severe Brown Recluse spider bite. I'm on the third week and the pain has gotten so much worse. The body releases an inflammatory substance after the first week that throws the entire leg up the hip into horrible pain and spasms.

The Doctor gave anti biotics right away and Silvadine cream used for BURN patients. It has helped.

As for YOU however . . I can't even imagine how horrible your pain is. I think the advice on this site may be helpful. The one suggesting 5/325 OXY is great and you can build on that. It's what I'm doing. It helps quite a lot.

You are very brave I commend you . . . be at peace. Jesus has all power over every pain known to human kind. Just ask Him to help and watch a healing begin in your body. You don't have the "earn" Gods Love, He IS Love and you are special to Him.

Re: Help me with pain from surgery, please please please
Lost almost a year of my life to non-stop pain after a major surgery. Had horrible neuropathic pain 24-7. Was finally put on Neurontin...gabapentin...after 8 months. It took about a month to begin working. It saved my life. I had been suicidal for a couple of months before the Neurontin kicked in. Give the gabapentin a chance. Don't stop taking it yet. Keep it up along with your other meds. I was on it for about a year and a half while my body slowly continued to heal. I was still in some pain, but I could function fairly normally with just over the counter pain meds to supplement.

The advice here is good but be very very careful. People OD all the time seeking effective pain management.

Additionally see if they can readmit you until it is under control. Technically you never should have been released until it was...

Oh and professionally I have found treating patients for nausea in addition to pain meds helps tremendously when dealing with neuralgia. Phenergan if they'll give it but even Zofran seems to help even though on its own it has no pain relief properties.

Re: Help me with pain from surgery, please please please
There are many cheap homeopathic remedies that can help for pain after surgery.

Arnica is one of them, but it covers more of a bruised feeling.

For burning pain, there are other remedies.

google "homeopathic remedies for pain."

They are cheap, and they work well, if you get the right remedy. Since with homeopathy , like treats like, try to match as many symptoms as possible.

You can also go to www.abchomoepathy.com and get a free consultation by any one of their homeopaths in their forum.

Or, you can see a homeopath if you have one in your area.

Hypnosis can also help with pain relief.

Did your surgeon not give you any pain meds? If not, call him and tell him how much pain you are in!

EXTREME PAIN VETERAN HERE!
I've suffered with Chronic Pain for 18yrs now due to back neck injuried from sports and car accidents when I was young. I've have 4 Vertabrae fused in my neck and one in my lumbar spine. Also shattered my lower right leg afyer a fall from a 20ft roof fixing Hurricane leaks back in '04.
I was started off on Tylenol w/Codeine but after so many years in extreme pain your tolerance goes up. I ended up on 30mg Oxycontin 3x a day 8yrs ago. It was then I found a miracle medication, at least for me it was, called Suboxone which is a thin film you place under your tongue tiol it dissolves. This medication in the U.S. Is given to patients to help ween them off strong narcotics, bur in Europe it is prescribed as a Pain Medication. I can tell you I had better, more reliably constant relief with this medication than any narcotic. I was kept on this for a few years until I tappered down enough that I could discontinue using it and believe it or not, the best over-the-counter pain medication I've found for me (i'm 6'2 260lbs) is Goody's Orange flavored powder. {has Acetaminophen & Caffine) It kicks in within 15min and the extreme pain becomes a discomfort rather than a debilitating pain.
I feel so bad for you as I know exactly what it feels like to live with an all consuming pain. I pray that God delivers you from this pain and gives you the same ability to cope as he gave me. During my time I managed to maintain my very demanding career as a Sr. Engineer for a Fortune 500 company for 34yrs now. Stay stong and stand firm with your doctors when you get, like one earlier poster said, "The Talk". They'll try to make you out to be a drug addict when I can already tell that all you want is your life back. Stay strong and know people care about you and you are never alone. Keep talking about it with others who have lived it because I don't care how much compassion and empathy someone has, until you've lived at least 1 month in extreme constant pain that you fear will never go away you'll never truly understand what CHRONIC LEVEL 10 PAIN is.
God be with you OP!

Don't take that in a high dose, that could cause you to stop breathing since it has codeine in it and too much is bad 4 u. It is very good you're not having those thoughts, lol had me worried for a second. Anyway when you see the Surgeon tommorow, tell him about the pain, how severe it is, how badly it is affecting your quality of life and ask him what you can do since regular PM with just Gabapentin is ineffective. If he offers Opiates, do NOT go for the full strength super powerful ones. They will reprogram your DNA right quick and you'll get addicted faster than you can think.

If he offers Opiates for the pain, get either Tyelenol #3, Vicoprofien 7.5/200, or Oxycodone 5-325. Don't get anything stronger. This is because you can use the painkillers as a Base you can expand upon to make that 5mg pill work a hell of alot better with minimal, risks. An example would be mixing Oxy 5-325 with 1,000mg of IBprofien and 25mg of Diphenhydramine hcl. It would raise it's painkilling ability without more oxy in your system.

Basically, if the pain is horrid, research dextromethorphan for pain relief on google. I can't really tell you what to do cuz im not your doc, but TL;DR? Raise hell at the Surgeon, Raise hell at PM, get your voice heard.

Goodluck

It has been 30 days since I had bi-max MMA surgery to fix a topological defect in my airway.

It absolutely has not stopped since the surgery, not even for a moment, and today is the worst day yet.

I fear walking too fast because the wind of my passage, on my face, is an inferno. Baby spoons are made of Constantino wire. The whiskers of my dogs are electrified whips.

Another DMSO fan here, never used it for that sort of pain, but if you pull your back, it can fix you up in a day or 2 (really fix you up) vs. your back never being quite right again after years of muscle relaxants, chiropractors, heating pads, etc.

So it may be great for this too.

Your doctor cannot recommend it to you because that would be malpractice. It's approved for human use in Europe (at least it was 20 or 30 years ago when I checked) but not in the States. That's why you get it from a farm supply store.

I also recommend that you treat your flesh by rubbing DMSO on it.. The gel.. It does burn.. But you can mix it with water and dilute it.. It also heals nerves and tissues. You can order 99 percent pure DMSO on Amazon or if you are too impatient go pick up a jar of it at your local Tractor Supply in the horse section.
Google "DMSO pain relief"

God bless you and may you find the True God of the bible through this trial. And May you be Saved and Healed and protected. In Jesus Name.

GLP has power because the members believe.

Please send me healing thoughts and prayers, I beg you.

Keep this in mind, OP... No matter how bad it is, there's somebody out there who has it worse.

I was bitten by the same Black Window three times on my elbow. I understand. I believe in calling on the name of Jesus -- that name above all other names.

I'll be praying for you OP.

Strangely enough, I may have to go through the same procedure. My sleep apnea is starting to cause me heart problems. I hope you keep us all updated on your progress.

You might try a didgeridoo first. My husband has sleep apnea and I just bought him one for Christmas. I was going to give you the link for the one I bought on Ebay for $29.90 and free shipping, but I just looked and they're sold out. It was a 48" handcrafted bamboo didgeridoo. They sale many other on there so you might find a deal as good as the one I got. Anyway, Google sleep apnea and didgeridoo. Also, lots of instructional videos on youtube.
