Yep I haven't eaten Tilapia in a few years after hearing that its all farm raised , in China Our seafood as a whole is likely carcinogenic or chronically toxic Last Edited by TheTruthMonger™ on 08/29/2015 07:04 PM |

Anyways google doesn't seem to show useful information anymore so I can find nothing about the origin of this seafood! Can any body point me in the right direction because I have avoided seafood all together unless I know for certain it wasn't from the pacific.. Thank you so much! Quoting: Tasty THC If it has mercury in it,it is from the atlantic, and if it has strontium 90 in it,it is from the pacific. If it gives off a blueish light when you mix it with mayo, don't eat it. |

Quoting: Tasty THC In Australia we are trying to bring in laws where it must be stated. Fresh fish shops must display country of origin. The problem we have is there are so many loops hard to trace. For instance, if fish is imported from New Zealand, a so called "safe" country to us it is labelled as NZ but the seller here is under no obligation to state whether it was imported into New Zealand from another place. The other problem is restaurants. It is near physically impossible, too time consuming and adding to the cost for them to state where exactly everyone of their ingredients that goes into a meal came from. It freaked a lot of Aussies out to hear that some of the fish being imported into Australia were grown in farm pens on rivers where the locals were to scared to drink the town water and the biggest import into that area was fresh Australian produced bottled water to be used as local drinking water. Hmmmmm Point being, a lot of stuff here has been shut down because it is too expensive to produce because China is so cheap. We need these products and there are not many places to go to. This is part of the reason why if China collapses, we rely on them so much we will have nothing for a while. |

User ID: 70093489 United States 08/29/2015 07:36 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | In the US, the country of origin must be stated on the packaging. This doesn't really help in the case of seafood, as the origin location specifies where it was processed and canned, not necessarily where it was harvested. There are lots of 'country of origin marking' laws that are exploited or ignored by producers and vendors. US Customs turns a blind eye to it, unfortunately. It is all laid out in Title 19, Part 134 of the US Code of Federal Regulations, if you are up for a read. We have been getting hot rains and those concentrate in ponds and lakes. Radiation tends to settle to the bottom and fish eat the irradiated particles. So I would suspect a lot of bottom feeding fish, like catfish, will have higher concentrations of Alpha particles. You ingest enough Alpha particles and you become toast.... |

However is it marked as dolphin friendly and if not wtf you eating it for? Tbh this is the least of your worries with radiation. Start looking at antibiotics and steroids in the other meats and dairy you enjoy. They will probably have a much greater influence on your health in your lifetime than a small dose of radiation. Don't get me wrong radiation is bad, but antibiotic resistant microbes are so much worse. |

Talapia and Swai are essentially sewerfish, able to thrive in Chinese and Asian sh*t filled waters - seriously just google their rivers, its disgusting. Tuna is fine, as its hard to farm raise (if you do its farm raised in the ocean). Unless of course you're one of these Fukushimatards. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 69025038 This is part of the reason why if China collapses, we rely on them so much we will have nothing for a while. I think I would be OK with that. Here in the US, corporate greed has moved virtually all manufacturing and production to other countries, most notably China. Hard goods as well as foodstuffs. This has resulted in a tremendous economic downturn due to a massive loss of jobs. Now our populace cannot even afford to buy the cheap Chinese goods and food that they lost their jobs for. I could certainly do without more Chinese imports, as every time I see, "Made in China", it reminds me of how our government has thrown the citizenry under the bus in the name of corporate greed. It should be a crime. It probably is. Last Edited by Crunch62 on 08/29/2015 07:48 PM I've been married so long, I don't even look both ways when I cross the street. |

They will mostly pass straight through you but alpha will interfere with the immediate tissue. |
