I find it very hard to believe that a regulation like that exists. I know it does not here for students. This is exactly why I needed help in the first place. I've been searching like crazy, but can't find anything. I didn't grew up here and I'm really not familiar with many important details of living in US. I assumed someone might give me a hint where I could possibly find such a policy. I also really doubt such a thing exists. I feel like maybe there could be RECOMENDATIONS from the state/school district and because as I said the director is a "know it all" and SHE BELIVES that putting sunscreen is the correct thing to do and...she is just bullshitting us. |

Its very had to be vitamin D deficient during the summer. Quoting: solar2004 65644072 That is under 'normal' atmospheric conditions - meaning without a weakening magnetic field and associated atmospheric changes. The time is much shorter - 5 minutes on average depending on the individual. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 58686169 United States 06/09/2015 04:51 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | On the vitamin D: mushrooms manufacture and store it. They can be used as little vitamin D powerhouses if you expose them to sunlight gills up. Check online for info. As per the school: doctors note and check your rights on discrimination for health reasons where you live. Private or not there are certain rules they have to abide. Good luck :) Quoting: Anonymous Coward 67534740 :fyn: I'll try to get a note from his doctor. I love and use mushrooms. My son is very picky eater, he would never eat a mushroom. I buy dry wild mushrooms of all varieties I could find and with my Vitamix blender I make a flour and use in everything I cook. Mushrooms produce Vitamin D2. Not same as D3 that we produce. Forget mushroom and stick to D3 supplement if needed. I give my 10 years old 3000 IU a day during "school year". Depending on the time of the year and location, your body won't see enough sunlight UVB to produce vitamin D in the skin esp late fall-winter-early spring. |

I homeschool now. I'm sorry you have to deal with idiots that care more about policy than your child's well being. It's sickening. And the LORD spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it. I am an evil giraffe, and I shall eat more leaves from this tree than perhaps I should, so that other giraffes may die. |

Your torso is the best place to get some sun on for vitamin D. If you were to sunbath between 10am and 2 PM, you'd get 20,000 IU after 15-30 minutes. It's much longer for black people though. 6-10 times longer... |

User ID: 55970666 United Kingdom 06/09/2015 05:09 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm honestly sooo pissed! Quoting: Lilac.Nights My son goes to a small private school in WA, he is in second grade. I was just informed that the school's policy is "no sunscreen/no play in the sun". My son is made to stay in a tiny corner of the playground that provides shade for every recess, just because I refuse to put sunscreen on him. I've already explained that he suffers from eczema and the last year haves and I will not put anything on him. I don't even use soap. Nothing.... First of all our kids are so low on vit D that they need some sun exposure, second we are not on the equator for god's sake, we are in the Northern WA, you can barely get enough sun if you expose your whole naked body to it. The only naked parts on my son are his face, hands and bellow the knees. This is just retarded. Don't you hate it when the school tries to be the parent? This resembles to the T how we were treated during the communism. I emailed his teacher and that's her reply: "Yes, you may send your own sunscreen. It needs to have a manufacturer's label showing the SPF. Our licensing policy prohibits us from allowing kids to play in the sun without sunscreen. If you have any further questions, please contact..." Any help is greatly appreciated! If you don't agree with the school policies you can home educate. If you cannot do this then I am afraid you will be subjected to the rules of a fascist state. |

If you have no choice but to send your child to a school try to find some kind of sun screen that is safe for sensitive skin to shut them up, otherwise they may make you out to be mentally unstable. If your child reacts to the sunscreen THEN you have a case and THEN if you think it is best to take your child out of school it will be questioned less. These people are robots and conditioned to follow a set of rules, play along with their bullshit half way and then GET OUT to save yourself hell. |

Quoting: Lilac.Nights The Earth is closer to the sun between May and solstice, than it is in August/September... Couple that with the fact that the Northern hemisphere is pointed at the sun (longer days) right now, and you have a disaster waiting to happen... Your kid's eczema isn't going to be worsened by Bain de Soleil Orange Gelèe #4... Such a parenting fail... |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 2075397 United States 06/09/2015 05:16 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Stop lying. Humans have been living on Earth under the sun for eons, & have NEVER at any point dropped dead en masse from skin cancer. Truth is, you have a 0.017% chance of getting skin cancer, even if you tan regularly. People who avoid the sun have a 0.012 chance of getting skin cancer but much higher risks of getting internal cancers from lack of vitamin D So just STFU with your sun scare cancer BS |

What do you guys/girls think of raw shea butter, virgin coconut oil with a touch of aloe vera. it will look white, creamy and spreadable. or the spraying kind from just aloe very juice with avocado oil? But didn't they say the sun screen has to be government approved? If you make your own 'perfectly safe' sunscreen they will write that off as you being an awkward/ attention seeking Munchhausen bi-proxy candidate. Just meet them half way and then if your child's skin reacts you have a case you can hit them in the balls with and leave. It will make them look bad and you look like a good mother who 'tried' their best. If you can't beat them, fuck them up. |

Oils will speed up the burning of the skin. That is why people use them for cooking. Animals by nature go in the shade. I don't agree with sunscreens or sitting in the sun for too long, even with sunscreen. Mud is best, otherwise shade is safe and sun rays still penetrate shaded areas so your child will have vitamin D. |

My sister was beside herself because she didn't want her child joining in massage classes with other children but the school was making out that she was depriving her child of physical interaction. My advice was for her to meet halfway. In the end nature had a mysterious way of handling the situation when my niece said a child was trying to rub her bottom and she didn't like it but the teacher wanted her to do it. Now the school has a reputation for encouraging children to touch each other whilst teachers watch. The classes mysteriously fizzled out not long after and the school has now shut, maybe for other reasons, but by meeting these robots half way it can be a fun experience. |
